Post Classical Trade 3.1
Improved transportation technologies and commercial practices led to expanded trade networks during the post-classical era. Existing trade routes like the Silk Road and Indian Ocean routes flourished and promoted new trading cities. New technologies like the compass, astrolabe, and larger ship designs, along with economic innovations like bills of exchange and new coins, enabled the growth of interregional trade. Larger empires also expedited these developments in communication and exchange.
