This document discusses PortNet Company's contributions to Morocco's environmental commitments through digitizing procedures and reducing paper usage. It notes that companies waste over 2% of turnover on paper management and outlines PortNet's initiatives like electronic archiving and workflows to eliminate printing. Statistics are provided on the environmental impacts of paper usage and the significant annual resources savings from making import/export documents, customs paperwork, and vessel tracking paperless. The document concludes that continuing to expand paperless procedures will further benefit the environment.

Green shipping refers to the use of resources and energy to transport people and goods by ship and specifically concerns the reduction in such resources and energy in order to preserve the global environment from GHGs and environmental pollutants generated by ships.
With more than 700 000 fleet cards in circulation, the South African fleet management industry is already a major force in offering fleet management solutions. The use of pioneering technology is also seeing the industry evolve to being better able to better control risk for customers, says Standard Bank.

ABSTRACT
This project provided information on the issue of ship-generated waste in the Tin Can Island Port, Lagos Complex and made recommendations based on findings. Using port-of-call and population statistics, the researcher was able to estimate the amount of ship-generated produced by the vessel traffic in TCIP.
In Nigeria, since 2004 port reception facilities in Tin Can Island port have been made available for control and containment of ship generated wastes or pollutions from ships, based on the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL 73/78). The numbers of ships calls to the port and their disposed wastes have been continuously recorded in the Nigerian Ports Authority Annual Abstract Statistics Reports since then. The main goal of this research is to forecast the amount of different waste collected from ships that called to the Tin Can Island Port for next four years based on the data collected between 2008 and 2012 using ARMA forecasting model with NCSS software tool.
According to result obtained with the model, the current data remain between the upper and the lower limit values of forecasting data.

In this edition of Seaview we interview some of the leading names in international ro-ro, tanker and dry bulk shipping business and learn first-hand how they are addressing the current competitive market through increased efficiency while adopting environmentally friendly policies, can this be achieved, yes it can! Is LNG the marine fuel of the future, how is ship design changing to accommodate the particular storage challenges that this new “green” fuel brings and has the whole issue of LNG distribution been properly addressed? We take a look how the new generation of seafarers are going to be trained and the new cost saving tools that they will
use. And as always we will focus on safety and the latest initiatives that will ensure safe passage on ro-ro shipping. Lastly is the ConRo concept about to change the face of container shipping, read on and find out more in this edition of Seaview.
Carbon emissions are depleting the ozone layer. Globally, we need to half the carbon emissions by 2050. The Ship Emission Rating Index (SERI) helps ships to compare their emission rating with similar ships. SERI also helps to motivate ship owners to be the best they can be by striving to be on the leaderboard for being in the top class for environment friendly rated ships, demonstrated through their Ship Emission Rating. SERI will motivate ships to reduce their emissions as no ship would like to be at the bottom of the ratings. Ships with good Emission Ratings will have an advantage when seeking bank loans and insurance cover as banks and insurance companies will prefer to insure and lend environmental friendly ships that are highly rated and ranked.

Study on Financing of zero-emission trucks and their infrastructureEuropeanCleanTruckin
Although zero-emission trucks (ZETs) have gained substantial momentum in recent years across the EU, fleet owners and operators still face significant barriers to their adoption. Financing mechanisms and innovative business models for ZET adoption must address the high upfront capital cost of both vehicles and their infrastructure since many fleet owners, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), lack the financial capacity to make large capital investments.
A study by Ricardo Energy & Environment for the European Clean Trucking Alliance identifies the key financing needs and barriers of the sector and proposes tailored solutions that mitigate their impact. It explores various financing mechanisms available to shippers, carriers and logistic companies for the adoption of ZETs. This includes, among others, traditional loans, grants, tax incentives, and innovative financial instruments such as green bonds or green premiums.
The study also assesses emerging business models that can facilitate the adoption of ZETs (e.g., truck-as-service). The advantages and disadvantages of each instrument are analysed.
Overall, the analysis revealed that:
- Government-supported mechanisms (concessional loans, subsidies and grants, tax benefits) are suitable to support the ZET transition. But they are undermined by limited accessibility and/or availability related to changing political circumstances.
- Credit guarantees and collective purchase agreements are relevant mechanisms to de-risk the upfront investment. Guarantees could play an important role in minimising the risks associated with the residual value of ZETs.
- Leasing models are suitable and flexible to support the adoption of ZETs. But they are also plagued by the uncertainties around the residual value of ZETs.
- Loans seem to be less flexible to adapt to the fast technology change and less used under the current circumstances. But there is potential to leverage traditional banking to support the ZET transition.
- Service-based models appear to be relevant to support the adoption of ZETs. But they are newer mechanisms and their availability is still limited. There are also still operational uncertainties.
On the basis of the relevance and gap analysis, 15 recommendations are proposed to:
- Enhance public intervention, including to reinforce government commitments (subsidies, grants, tax benefits).
- De-risk investments and address residual value uncertainties, including with the provision of government-supported residual value guarantees or with awareness raising and collective purchase agreements.
- Leverage traditional banking to support the ZET transition.
- Diversify and improve access to finance, by either diversifying financing sources beyond traditional banks or establishing private partnerships for large firms to financially support their SME suppliers.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Expectation of vessels movements and environmental hazards
All the vessels generate risks by themselves and for themselves: damage, fire, explosion, human
error, endangerment of equipment…these factors could interact, amplify and exacerbate. On the
other hand, the vessel is in constant contact with its environment: including the coastline, fisheries,
and pitfalls as well as sailing conditions (wind, strong waves, fog) that could cause cargo loss or
worsen the condition of vessels thus leading it to perish in the sea.
Within the aim of controlling its risks and reducing their impact on environment, PortNet Company
implemented, in close cooperation with its public and private partners, a platform of maritime
information management. Thus, it allows, thanks to the anticipation of exchanges, the improvement
of anticipatory management for port of callls and nautical services.
