Business Biography
I am a Junior at Mount St. Joseph University. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s
Degree in the Science of Accounting. Thus far, I have developed and strengthened many
new and existing skills such as: analytical, budgeting, communication, computer, and
organization. My success in the classroom can be measured by my numerous
appearances on the Dean's List and a 3.76 GPA. My success at Mount St. Joseph
University goes beyond the classroom. Along with being a student, I am also a collegiate
athlete. As a Sophomore, I was named to the Academic All-Conference Team. This
award is given to student athletes who receive a Varsity letter while maintaining above
a 3.5 GPA.

Assignment 8
Deloitte has developed a reputation as one of the most prestigious companies in the
world. Your employees are known for collaborative work that provides assurance and audit to
your clients. However, Deloitte does more than just that. Your employers also provide
consulting, risk management, and many other related services to these people. The purpose of
this report will express the background information I have for your company and ways we can
incorporate innovative ideas and modern technology to strengthen the status of this company.
As stated on your website, “These firms are members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
Limited, a UK private company limited by guarantee”. These firms are separated throughout the
world. Because of this, these firms must be aware of the business regulations and laws for that
geographic region. Ultimately, it is your company’s beliefs and behaviors that make your work
stand out from all similar companies.
Over the last 150 years, your dedication to challenging work and commitment have
caused your organization to increase approximately 245,000 people in 150 countries and
territories. While this success is mesmerizing, your company still aims to grow and do the best
work possible. With that thought in mind, I have some ideas that can help strengthen and build
off the success you already have in other regions of your organization.
3. Your success can be measured by the numerous awards your company has received.
Some of these awards are FORTUNE’s 100 Best Companies to Work for, the Brandon Hall
Group’s HCM Excellence Award, and Workforce Management World’s Top Companies for HR.
Along these lines, the company was also awarded the “Vault Best Internship Program”. This
achievement relates more to me than any of the other numerous awards you have. Being a
college student, I want to work and gain knowledge from the strongest company possible.
In my eyes, an internship program is one of the most effective ways to strengthen your
company. It provides the company an opportunity to train and educate probable future
employees. Ultimately, this will put your company at an advantage in the long run. Another
4. opportunity you could take advantage of in the future would be a cooperative learning
program. This program is generally operated through local colleges and universities.
At my current school, Mount St. Joseph University, we have a Co-Op Program that local
companies and firms take advantage of. This provides the students at universities with
interview and work experience. With that in mind, your company will be able to evaluate the
students at these schools and hire them in the future. When it comes to financing the program,
the universities you partner with generally pay the students’ salary and wages. This is a
fantastic opportunity to get more locally involved and draw even more attention and interest to
your company.
According to your website, your revenue in 2017 was $18,551 million. This number has
increased gradually over the last three years. This number positively correlates with your
5. professional headcount. Along with an increased revenue over the last three years, your
professional headcount has increased by almost 15,000 employees. To see this number
continually increase over the next few years, you should strongly consider the cooperative
learning program. When I researched the companies you compete against, I learned that not
one of these companies have a similar program. In this case, you would be the first company to
adapt these ideas. It could lead to an increase in revenue, staff, and cities you operate in.
6. When looking over your numbers, I realized that the amount of Certified Public
Accountants in your company barely increased over the last year. With that being the case, you
could work with current students who plan on pursuing this career path. Being an Accounting
major in college, my ultimate goal is to pass the Certified Public Accountant examinations.
Students my age are always looking for companies to support them while they study for this set
of exams. If you were to do this, these students would more than likely return the favor to your
company and come on as a future employee.
Fortunately, your company created the idea of Deloitte University. This program and
idea is very intriguing to me. This program is practically a university where your employees can
go to get further education and strengthen their skills. This program also enhances the
leadership skills of your current employees. Once they have completed this program, their
leadership skills set themaside from all other companies. However, this program does not
accept college students. If you were to reject the cooperative learning program, a newly
structured Deloitte University would still put your company at an advantage.
7. Ultimately, your company, Deloitte, is as good as they come. I have been impressed with
your work and goals since high school. Since then, it has been a goal of mine to work at Deloitte
one day. I know I will be able to bring leadership skills, team-working ability, and innovative
ideas to your company. I appreciate your time and thank you for meeting with me today. I am
forever thankful for this opportunity.

Business Communications
Work Example
When I first thought of U.S. companies that have facilities in other countries, the first
thing that came to my mind was Nike. Nike is worth about 83.17 billion U.S. dollars and
operates in 120 countries. With that in mind, some of these countries are China, Indonesia,
Thailand, and India. In my opinion, Nike’s most popular factories overseas are the ones in
China. As you may recall, Nike has had issues with low wages and poor working conditions in
these factories. However, it is not just Nike who has had issues in China. China has been
predominantly known for their sweatshops and child labor.
If I were to open a Nike factory in China, I would need to get assurance that it would not
be turned into a sweatshop. I would want documentation on each employee to make sure that
no child labor is occurring. I would mention that Nike is a part of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
This means that children under 14 may not be employed. Along with this, children between 14
and 16 can only work limited hours. Children who are 16 and 18 may be employed for unlimited
hours. Once this communication is established, the factory should not have any issues when it
comes to child labor.
At the same time, I would need to communicate to the business people in the China
facility that there are labor laws. With that being the case, employees should be awarded a
break during their shifts. Along with this, they should work in conditions that are safe and not
16. harmful in any way. If the work environment is dangerous, they should have to sign a waiver.
This will allow for safety and satisfaction in the facility.
Ultimately, these are the two biggest considerations I would make to the business
people in the China facility. This will help eliminate the sweatshops and child labor in China.
Although it may occur in many other companies in this country, I would try my hardest to
eliminate it in my company.
