According to Octavio Doerr: the principal strength
of the Guayaquil’s port is their LOCATION because
its river is relatively close to the places of origin
and destination of their domestic markets.
4. This positioning is the result of the different production, industrial,
commercial activities generated around Guayaquil.
Guayaquil contains the 15% of industrial establishment in the
country, due to:
◦ The Province of Guayas agglomerating 25% of the national
population;
◦ 57% of import cargo and
◦ 72% of exports
5. Specialization in traffic and cargo.
Absence of trade unions.
Low interference with urban areas.
Proximity to the country's most
important industrial center.
Certification in the
International Code of Safety
for Ships and Port Facilities
PBIP- ISPS.
