According to Octavio Doerr: the principal strength
of the Guayaquil’s port is their LOCATION because
its river is relatively close to the places of origin
and destination of their domestic markets.

4.  This positioning is the result of the different production, industrial,
commercial activities generated around Guayaquil.
 Guayaquil contains the 15% of industrial establishment in the
country, due to:
◦ The Province of Guayas agglomerating 25% of the national
population;
◦ 57% of import cargo and
◦ 72% of exports

5.  Specialization in traffic and cargo.
 Absence of trade unions.
 Low interference with urban areas.
 Proximity to the country's most
important industrial center.
 Certification in the
International Code of Safety
for Ships and Port Facilities
PBIP- ISPS.
