Everything That Rises Must Converge Analysis Essay
Rising from Bigotry to Converge in Equality Everything That Rises must converge , by Flannery
O Connor is sometimes considered a comical but also serious tale of a grown man named Julian,
who lives with mother, who happens to be your typical southern woman. The era unfolds in a
couple years after integration begins. Throughout the story, O Connor impresses us with her
derived message in which people often resist to growing away from bigotry towards self
awareness and love for all humankind, which is so necessary for life to converge in equality. O
Connor has a distinctive style of writing that expresses this message through characterization,
conflict and literary devices. From the first page, Flannery O Connor does a great job... Show more

internal conflicts Julian faces in the story and in his life. O Connor sets up the scene on the bus

is what brings about more conflict. She would not ride the buses by herself at night since they
had been integrated... She truly felt that society was wrong. The world is in a mess everywhere,
his mother said. I don t know how we ve let it get in this fix. At the same time, the interaction
between the characters on the bus bring conflict in between characters and their personality

Two Standards Of Auditing
As accountants and auditors, we are held to, and must comply with, two standards of professional
conduct. Those standards are generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally
accepted auditing standards (GAAS). GAAP enforces the uniform standards for preparing and
presenting financial statements. GAAS governs the ways and means are used by public
accountants when conducting an audit. GAAS establishes the standards for field work and mandates
that sufficient evidence be found to provide reasonable assurance for issuing an audit opinion.
Liability to Clients
Please remember, as accountants we are held liable to our clients when we enter into contracts and
are hired to perform services. The liability we face can come from items such as breach of contract,
fraud and negligence. When an accountant enters into a contract, also known as an engagement,
with a client the terms of said engagement are specified. In a contract an accountant has explicit and
implicit duties. The accountant must perform all explicit duties in the contract. The implicit duties
of the contract are implied, and the accountant agrees to perform them in a proficient and
professional manner. If an accountant fails to perform the duties of the contract, he or she may be
held in breach of the contract.
An accountant may be found liable for two types of fraud. These two types are actual and
constructive. Actual fraud occurs when there is a deliberate omission or misrepresentation of a

The Importance Of City Elections In Canada
This paper will examine municipal elections in British Columbia, taking Surrey and Vancouver
as direct examples to show that a ward system would be a much more fair and democratic way to
elect city councils. Municipal elections in these two cities currently take place in an at large
system. The argument behind why this system is superior is that city councils have a more
citywide approach to representation, as opposed to a regional one. Many political scientists have
argued that a ward system, which splits cities into districts that are all represented by at least a
single councillor, are a better way to hold more democratic and representative elections. Because of
the current lack of representation for some lower income or underprivileged... Show more content

The goal of ward systems is to make sure that all sections of a city are equally represented by at
least a single councillor. Even though cities such as Vancouver have for some reason rejected it
(as seen in 2004), it is a much more fair system to all citizens of a city. The at largesystem easily
tends to favour wealthier communities in a city. When taking Vancouver as an example, the
Berger Commission of 2004 found that [it] is generally accepted that the majority of city
councillors have been from the West Side. As Rebecca Dhindsa puts it, the West Side is an area
with higher incomes and less unemployment than Vancouver s East Side. This shows that
councillors tend to run from wealthier segments of a city in at large systems. This can be because
they may be more financially well off than the candidates from the underprivileged sections, which
can affect campaign financing, or as the Berger Commission states, the richer and better educated
have a greater chance of informing themselves on civic issues and participating in political affairs.
The defence that this system is better for a council with a citywide focus is also largely false.
Royce Koop and John Kraemer found that many councillors in at large municipalities still favour a
certain area. When interviewing Councillor Bruce Hayne of Surrey, they were told this by him; I
think everybody has some affinity to the geography of where they live. I live in Cloverdale so I

Social Taboos In A View From The Bridge
How does Miller engage with social taboos within A View from the Bridge?
Homosexuality, incest, tragic heroes; Arthur Miller may have written about familial relationships
but his plays are not for the whole family. His play A View from the Bridge depicts
longshoreman Eddie Carbone and family in Red Hook, Brooklyn as they house his wife s
immigrant cousins, with whom Eddie develops a rivalry resulting in his death. Miller juxtaposes
Eddie s attitudes towards social taboos to explore his contrasting morality, eliciting both pity and
scorn to establish a tragic hero at the centre of a modern tragedy. He achieves this by referencing
homosexuality to demonstrate Eddie s paranoia and exposing his incestuous desires to evoke
disgust, accentuating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The negative portrayal of Eddie as a proud, incestuous paranoiac is juxtaposed by the pity
audiences are made to feel at Eddie s situation. Although we are reminded that Eddie s downfall
is self inflicted, his situation is tragic because it could have been avoided, evoking both
exasperation and pity. This duality is amplified in the scene where Eddie kisses Catherine then
Rodolpho, evoking sympathy for his desperation but disgust at him kissing both his niece and
another man, both social taboos. Eddie s contrasting interactions with the social taboos of
homosexuality and incest, one as a romantic gesture and the other as an accusal, again portray him
as both moral and immoral. Alfieri addresses this dichotomy in his final lines, saying that Eddie
was wrong and not purely good, but himself purely , which was why I mourn him I admit it with a
certain... alarm . The contrast between the opposite adjectives wrong and good and the chiasmus of
the second above stated line highlight Eddie s duality. Meanwhile, Alfieri s hesitation implicit in his
use of the phrase I admit it and the following ellipsis underline his conflicted thoughts, which are
meant to mirror those of audiences. The fact that the latter is the play s closing line demonstrates
the importance of Eddie s

A Local Area Network ( Lan )
A local area network (LAN) is a computer network that connects computers in an area with limited
space such as a home, school, computer laboratory, or office building, using network media.
A Wide Area Network, or WAN, is made up of many computer networks connected together, often
over the Internet. In most cases, the networks in WANs all belong to the same company or school.
A Metropolitan area network, or MAN for short, is a computer network that connects multiple other
Local area networks (LANs). An example of where MANs are used, are the networks on a campus
of a university. MANs use different technologies than LANs.
The 5 4 3 rule, also known as the IEEE way, is a design guideline for computer networks using
Ethernet, covering the number of repeaters and segments on shared access Ethernet backbones in a
tree topology.
Depending on the protocols they need to support, packets tend to be constructed in the standard
packet format. Packet formats generally include a header, the body containing the message data,
also known as the payload, and sometimes a footer which is also known as the trailer. The packet
header shows the destination of the packet and often shows the length of the data in the message.
The packet footer contains data that implies the end of the packet, such as a special sequence of
bits known as a magic number. The packet header and the packet footer may contain error checking
information.

Education And Student Education
Through my schooling so far, I have learned and read about education and student culture to put
together a general philosophy about what I believe as a teacher. Beginning the middle level
education program, my philosophy has evolved and strengthened based on the uniqueness of
young adolescent needs. I believe that every child can learn and deserves equal opportunity in the
classroom. I believe that young adolescents deserve a curriculum that accommodates whatever
need they may have. I believe that every child deserves a teacher who will advocate for them
academically and socially. This philosophy will continue to evolve as I continue my journey
through the program.
Young adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15 are going through numerous personal changes in
types of development. They are at all different stages, so a classroom can vary greatly between
individuals. Thinking patterns often change in middle school. Students begin to start relating things
to their world and lives at a deeper level. Young adolescents face problems such as violence, body
image, health, and drugs. In a school where there is so much the students are being exposed to, it
has been found that it is difficult for them to make healthy decisions that benefit them.
As mentioned previously, young adolescents are at different stages of diverse types of
development. Intellectual development is the young adolescent s reasoning and judgement based
on growth from experience. Many adolescents are in

Essay Malcom X and Non-violence
My life has always been one of changes (436). Malcolm X, throughout his life, was one of the
most influential, and quite possibly the most effective, civil rights activists of the twentieth
century. His radical ideas and views were widely sought after from the oppressed African
American population in the 1950s and 60s. The changes he underwent throughout his life affected
his views of a racist America and inspired him to lead a dedicated life preaching, what he thought

Anger and confusion were two very prominent themes throughout Malcolm s life with first, the
death of his father, and then the removal of his mother from their family, also under a white man
s order. Upon his arrival in Boston, Malcolm developed a strong criticism for the prejudice within
the black community that had arose in the early 1940s. He was surprised to find the judgmental
nature both classes had for each other in an attempt to increase their own status in artificial ways.
Though Hill Negroes arguably had a better quality of life than the many unemployed black
residents of Boston, their unwillingness to acknowledge the menial nature of their jobs while they
look down on the poorer blacks makes them just as snobbish as the racist whites.
Violence, ultimately, became a dominant force in Malcolm s life when he moved to the Harlem
ghettos. His anger and hostility was slowly directed from the black population towards white
America, but at the same time he blamed the black community draining the black ghetto of wealth.
Malcolm believed that wealthy white people not only exploited poor blacks on a daily basis, but
also contribute to the profound lack of opportunity in Harlem. It is for this reason he begins to
blame the white community for driving them into the spiral of crime, drugs, deceit, and poverty,
giving them no other option than the hustler s life; it wasn t much longer that Malcolm, himself,
started to run numbers across the city

Poetry during the Roman empire played a prevalent role in society along with what was being

society and the people played, in what type of poetry, language, and tone were used. Latin poetry,
through symbolism and humanity s ideology, represents the evolution of the Roman era and
government. Latin literature leaves behind a lasting legacy of the culture of ancient Rome. Some of
the earliest works are historical epics telling of the early military history of Rome, followed by
comedies, histories and tragedies. The comedies were the earliest as the Roman empirewas strong

Both Russia and China differ from the U.S. in their approaches to information security by holding
the mind and information systems to be essential components in their perception of information

Different Dimensions Used in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by J.R.R. Tolkien
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, J.R.R Tolkien uses many different dimensions to keep the
poem interesting. Each dimension that is presented has a contradiction, making the poem
somewhat of a fantasy. By using these techniques Tolkien makes the poem more humorous and
psychological. As a Christian knight Sir Gawain comes across many obstacles that attempt to lead
him astray. He tries to make all the correct actions in his conquest, however sin and temptation
force him to decide between good and evil. Although Tolkien presents a tale of a knight s chivalry
and honor as well as the aspect of death, some of the situations are presented as comedic. I ... Show

By taking Lady Bertilak s girdle, he puts his faith into something material and also jeopardizes his
relationship with Bertilak. When Gawain takes this girdle he is not only acting for himself but his
whole assembly of knights. When he goes back and tells his adventure, they all seem to be
humbled by Gawain taking the girdle, when in fact they are actually just laughing at themselves,
because they also have to wear the girdle. Although humor plays an important role in the poem of
the Green Knight, Tolkien also adds psychological effects in the poem as well. The element of Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight that involves the most psychological devices is when Lady
Bertilak tries to seduce Gawain. While this is happening, Bertilak is out hunting game to give to
Gawain as a gift. In return for Bertilak s gift, Gawain would also give a gift to Bertilak. Each day
Bertilak presents a different animal to Gawain, and
Gawain gives Bertilak a kiss. Gawain is not aware that with every different animal Bertilak hunts,
Gawain embodies the characteristics of that animal when the Lady attempts to seduce him. As the
days go on, Gawain s characteristics become complex and more involved. Finally on the third day
he embodies the fox, which is cunning and sly and will do anything to get out of a peculiar
situation. So Gawain does exactly this; he takes the girdle so he can escape from the evil
temptations of Lady Bertilak. Along with every other dimension, this too has

The Chair And Ceo Relationship

affecting that relationship. The study is confined only to separate board leadership and CEO roles.
Importance of the relationship Many literature recognised the effect of nature of the chair and the

The quality of the chairman and CEO relationship can impact the happenings in the boardroom
(Kakabadse et al. 2006, p.134). A positive relationship between chairman and CEO facilitates an
open non judgmental quality discussion in the boardroom (Kakabadse et al. 2006, p.141), thus
improving board performance. According to Hossack (2006, p.1), the ultimate beneficiary of a
strong chair CEO relationship is their company, as they are performing distinct roles, while
supporting each other. However Murden (2012) argues that such a relationship would be
rewarding to both of them. When CEO needs mentoring, the chair would offer valuable counsel.
Robert (2002, p.493) states that the chairman positively contributes to CEO performance. The
chair being the performance evaluator of the CEO, the trust and respect between them cannot be
overemphasized (Kiel 2012, p. 233). Likewise CEO would be genuinely disclosing the important
matters to the chair, without last hour surprises. It is the responsibility of chair to get to know
from the CEO, of current transactions on matters concerned to the board (Kiel 2012, p.233). A
harmonious relationship between chairman and CEO can help an organization to resolve even
severe issues (Kakabadse et al. 2006, p.147) (Murden 2012). On the contrary, if their relationship
turns bitter with frequent clashes, it may lead to poor board decisions (Conger 2009, p.53).

And Disadvantages Of A Separate Army
INTRODUCTION
Joint warfare and separate military have their advantages and disadvantages, the benefits of the war
force joining together and forming a separate and single unit.
BENEFITS OF JOINT WARFARE The benefits of joint forces to forming a single unit includes
all the members i.e. service members having the tactical knowledge, understanding and the
operational procedures and capabilities of each unit that will be joint together. They also reduce
casualties in mission that they go to due to the joint understanding of each unit. Joint warfare and
units of forces allows the forces to be able to adapt to new and modern patterns of war. During the
war, an opportunity to grab and have an understanding of the war and the tactics and not just the
individual war departments or unit where they will have different deals and tactics which may in
turn not have any synchronization in the pattern of execution. The joint unit can handle different
aspects of war like the Navy, Air force separately through the air, the military on the ground, and all
working at the same time together will reduce the time of operation and make it faster. Joint forces
would also be advantageous due to the monetary aspects, whereby the monetary systems ... Show

Control Mechanisms Paper
Control Mechanisms paper
RUNNING HEAD: Control Mechanism Paper
In order to understand control mechanisms, it is important to understand what control means in the
management world. Control refers to the workings of individuals being directed to achieve
organizational goals. This can be the way that managers keep their employees on track and focused
toward meeting their goals. The managers are controlling the employees. In order to meet the
organizational goals, there are certain control mechanisms that are used. In Wal Mart, four
examples of control mechanisms used include finance control, distribution control, audits, and
performance reviews. Finance control refers to the way that Wal Mart regulates their finances. This

This can be the most difficult part because you want your customers to be happy. Getting a poor
review is something that is inevitable, and should be handled as soon as possible because the
whole purpose of the review was to keep the company abreast of all things about the company. You
should regard your review as a learning experience, with this review you should be able to take
away valuable information that can hopefully help the company move forward Wal Mart
distribution control is the key to this company success. Wal Mart wants to take over the United
States services from suppliers in an attempt to reduce the cost of hauling supplies (Burit 2010).
This is a huge step in the right direction for this company because by Wal Mart doing this, they
have an advantage over the other competitors. Wal Mart wants to cut the time of delivery in half,
by having more fleets on the road, and by filling them to capacity, and dropping off directly to the
distribution centers and stores. The down side to the distribution control is Wal Mart will see an
increase in transportation costs. The control mechanisms are made up of the four functions of
management and this is considered the focused approach of Wal Mart. The four functions of
management are: planning and organizing, leading and controlling. These four functions play a
crucial role in monitoring to ensure compliance and providing control practices.

Preparation of Pure Culture
It is necessary to isolate organisms in pure culture before studying and identifying them because a
pure culture originates from one cell.
Characteristics colonies from the original culture on the plates were picked with a sterile wire
loop (using surface streaking method) and this loop was used to make streak of the colony on the
surface of newly prepared sterile agar plates of NA,MA amp; MSA.
These streak will space out the inoculants and discrete colony of a particular specie of organism
and then incubated at 35 37oC for 24hours to enhance microbial growth.
Distinct colonies were re inoculated on another fresh agar plates in order to obtain a pure culture.
The isolates were picked with sterile loop and streaked into prepared agar slants, labeled and
incubated for growth after which they were kept in the refrigerator for future use and identification.
Identification of Isolates
These isolated bacteria were identified using both morphological culture characteristics (i.e. the
color, shape, elevation, capacity, consistency, edge) and biochemical test (i.e. citrate, oxidase,
indole, sugar fermentation, test etc.)and the bacteria were identified based on the results obtained

In the United States there are approximately 1,075,000 psychopathic males in prison or on parole

psychopathyand sociopathy are defined as antisocial personality disorders that produce a lack of

Psychotherapy has been shown to be the most effective treatment option for psychopathy and
sociopathy. In a study from 2013, psychotherapy was 35% more effective than other known

treatment. Psychotherapy helps to minimize the symptoms of psychopathy and sociopathy. After 2
months of psychotherapy a man started to have less violent outbursts (Porter). This example
suggests that psychotherapy can enable the victim to push back against their symptoms. The victim
will have to continue getting treatment until age 40. The treatment method of psychotherapy is to
talk through situations and feelings with a psychiatrist, this treatment should continue until around
the age of 40 as this is about the age the expression of the illness stops (Salekin et al. 6). The
victims will have to seek help in order to control their symptoms, if they do it will be a long journey

Religions And Beliefs Of Hinduism
Hinduism originated thousands of years ago, in India. Today, Hinduism is the major religion in
India. Hinduism has been influenced by both early indigenous religions and from later immigrants.
Hinduism did not originate from one founder, one book, or one point of view. Hinduism contains
many different beliefs, viewpoints, and philosophies. Hinduismworships many gods but does have
a belief in a single divine reality. Hinduism is not a single, unified religion, it is a family of
beliefs. Hinduism involves the believe of many gods and goddesses but at the same time believes
in one supreme God. Hinduism is considered to be the oldest religion known, which predates other
known religions.
There are three gods that are particularly important in the artistic and devotional life of Hinduism.
These gods are Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. These gods have different origins but have been linked
together to form the Trimurti, meaning triple form. Together these gods represent forces of
creation, destruction, and preservations.
Brahman is believed to represent the forces that created the universe. He is the creator, ultimate
reality, absolute God, and supreme cosmic spirit. Brahman is believed to be the light of the

Rulers; What makes a successful one? Some could argue the accumulation of land and wealth are
the defining factors. Others would assert that population size and control over it maketh a great
ruler. All these factors are quite obviously good indicators of an empire on the rise, but not
necessarily indicators of good ruling. It appears to me that great rulers build their empire like a
sports franchise builds their team; around a centralized figure. The centralized figure in regards to
empire is the ruler of said empire. They demand the respect and loyalty of their constituents, and any
resistance to such demands is met with the harshest of reprimands. Successful rulers make

Napoleon actions in power appear to completely contradict his supposed beliefs during the French
Revolution, as he reverted back to former times in regards to his power, his administration, and
even his self appointed title of emperor. One could suggest that Napoleon utilized the ideals of the
revolution to put himself into power with no actual regard for the beliefs of the people who
placed him there. With that said, his prominence as a ruler can be explained through his military
might, oppressive and unequal policies amongst his constituents, and his successful method of
delegating authority over territories to his family and other loyal subjects. Catherine the Great, in
a similar fashion to Napoleon, used her power to deny or limit the rights and knowledge of her
subjects, as she did when attempting to keep the dialogue of the French Revolution out of her
empire. Her consolidation of the social classes served to keep people in their place while
simultaneously giving her more structure and stability over her empire. These rulers showcase a

Abstract
Sound is a mechanical wave that is an oscillation of pressure transmitted through a solid, liquid,
or gas, composed of frequencies within the range of hearing and of a level sufficiently strong to
be heard. It is produced when something vibrates causing its the medium (water, air, etc.) around
it to vibrate as well. In common everyday speech, speed of sound refers to the speed of sound
waves in air. Sound travels faster in liquids and non porous solids than it does in air. In this

The wavelength of the sound produced was computed. 2 more trials were made and the average
wavelength was computed. By using the average wavelength and the frequency engraved in the
tuning fork, the velocity of sound in air inside the glass tube was compted. The temperature was
then determined and the speed of sound was then computed.
Activity 2:
The vernier microphone was connected to channel 1 of the interface. The microphone was
positioned near the open end of the close tube. The file 24 speed of sound in physics with
computer file was opened. The data collection begins after the snapping the fingers or clap your
hands near the tube. The time interval between the start of the first vibration and the start of the
echo vibration was determined using the graph. The speed of sound was then computed by dividing
the length of the tube by ВЅ of the time interval obtains in step 5. The % error was then computed.
Activity 3:
A thin layer of cork dust as uniformly as possible inside the kundt s tube was placed. The rod was
then clamped at its center. The rod was rubbed with a piece of cloth with coarse poweder. This will
set the rod into vibration producing a sound of high frequency. A standing wave pattern will be
formed in the cork dust inside the glass tube. The distances between two consecutive displacement
nodes were measured. The average distance was computed. The frequency of sound produced was

Women And Girls Should Have Power Over Their Own Bodies
All women and girls should have power over their own bodies and the right to decide whether and
when to have children. Reproductive health is about safe pregnancy and childbirth, prevention and
treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, and family planning and access to contraception. This
is the UN definition of reproductive rights, and is created based on UN s Millennium
Development Goals. The goals as well as this explanation are something all nations should thrive
towards. I will take a look at Norway, and how the situation regarding reproductive capacities, as
well as reproductive rights, as this goes hand in hand. There is two reasons I am looking at
Norway, one being that I am myself from Norway, and can on some level speak based on my
own experience. The main reason however is that Norway has many times, and by many
different surveys, been rated the best country in the world to live in , and can therefore be seen as
a primary example on reproductive rights. I will take a look at the different policies put in place in

Arguments In Favour Of The Divine Command Theory By Leibniz
After reading chapter one and the passage the moral theory that Leibniz rejects in the passage is
called the divine command theory. The divine command theory is a meta ethical theory which
proposes that an action s status as morally good is equivalent to whether it is commanded by God.
It says that right actions are those that are willed by God, that God literally defines right and wrong.
Something is right or good is only because God makes it so. In the simplest version of the theory,
God can determine right and wrong because he is omnipotent. God is powerful, powerful enough
to even create moral norms. And on that view, God is a divine lawgiver, and his laws constitute
mortality. Believers are divided on whether or not the divine command theorygives us a sensible
amount of mortality. Religious and secular critics of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leibniz is trying to say that even though God is powerful and forgives everyone for the wrong
doing that is done throughout life we are not held to his standards of goodness. God can change
his mind of what he thinks is right and wrong and doesn t have to explain his reasoning or why
he did such thing because he is God. But Leibniz believes that God will lose his holiness by
changing his mind as many times as he wants just because he is God and he can so. Leibniz
thinks that people should worship God for what he believes in and hold him up in his morals
and values. Leibniz thinks that people destroy one another without realizing the harm that they
are acting doing. God wants everyone to live in a society like it used to be, but today everyone is
out to hurt and destroy each other whether it s intentional or not. People can be physically,
emotionally, and even verbally hurt by the actions that people perceive. God wouldn t ever

Analysis of Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the
conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.
Adam Smith
The reasons for writing a book such as Adam Smith s The Wealth of Nations are many, and Smith
seems to have had several in mind. His study traces the stages in the development of the modern
economic system in an attempt to explain it, maps out the origins of money, and finally tackles the
issues facing the mercantile system which controlled the society he lived in. In the process, he
provides an exposition for his vision of a laissez faire economy, that is, capitalism as we now know
it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking at his own society s economic system, Smith explores the division of labour, the role it has
to play in industrialization, and its general impact upon the wealth of the state.
Smith regards the division of labour and the resultant specialization as the key to increasing the
productivity of labour, rather than the increase in mechanization since the
Industrial Revolution began, as many would argue. Naturally, a highly specialized economic unit
would be dependent upon interaction with other, similarly specialized units, and Smith illustrates
that a system of fair and accessible trade is necessary for an efficient use of labour.
The much quoted example of the pin maker is used to demonstrate Smith s point about the
division of labour. Despite its questionable accuracy, this example does much to illustrate the
plight of labour under a system of increasing specialization. That is to say, it shows the boredom
and melancholia which can be associated with repetitious and laborious work. For Smith, however,
any such problem is amply compensated for by the relative prosperity of a society based upon
specialized markets and trades. For instance,

These advantages can help a company gain a competitive advantage over industry participants.

build a trusting relationship and the quality of the service will increase as employees know that
you care and don t just view them as workers. Often time companies find themselves under strict
regulations and scrutiny when they have misappropriated those regulations. Some companies have
opted to outsource to avoid environmental regulations and fines in many locations. Another basic
principle advises companies that plan to outsource to seek to do no harm to the ecological
systems of the world regardless of what environmental regulations may not be in place in the
location of choice for outsourcing. By making ethical choices as such help to build and protect the
company s image. It shows that they have good character in the decision that they make and how
they impact the environment. Companies receive backlash from choosing to outsource job
functions when it causes a reduction in their workforce from layoffs. It can be hard to justify
layoffs in turn for cheaper labor when you are removing individuals from the workforce who have

This dissertation is important to understanding whether traditional theories of minority

which no longer exists. Although the fashion industry is associated with art and creativity and
not so much the black and white world of business and finance, in order for an industry to thrive
there must be a board of business directors or business savvy owners to create profit.
Nonetheless, prejudice still persists amongst females in the business world which can transfer
across from industry to industry and although the fashion is associated with an art form, there is
still the black and white business side which is controlled by males too. In business start ups it is
easier for men to break into the world of business as they do not have to face the added pressure of
prejudice for being female. Therefore, this dissertation seeks to make a contribution towards
abolishing the branding of females being considered as minority entrepreneurs through the study of
fashion start ups.

Double Shift Chapter Notes
In the book Double shift, Charlie, the captain of the rebels starts a new season with new players.
However, these new players don t have that good chemistry with the original players and the team
becomes divided. I made the connection between the rebels, and the ottawa senators. In the NHL
this season, Matt duchene of the colorado avalanche gets traded to the ottawa senators. Matt
duchene, a superstar, has some trouble in ottawa, he is not scoring as much or pressuring like he
used to with his former team. This is because Matt duchene did not know the ottawa players too
well. All the hockey analysts say that good chemistry is essential to playing good as a team. Thus,
as time progressed, matt duchene started playing better and scoring more as he got to know his
teammates.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the end of the book, the new players, spencer, brandon, nazem start to get more comfortable
with the team and then the rebels start winning games. In ottawa, Matt duchene started to get more
comfortable with his teammates and ottawa did better just like the rebels. Also, when matt duchene
joined ottawa he was not joking around with his teammates or making friends. I can infer it is
because he felt unwelcome because he was new and everyone else on the team was so close. This
helps me understand why the new rebels chose not to participate in some activities with the team
like going to the movies together or when they went to a party since they felt unwelcome on the
team. In addition both situations demonstrated extreme determination. Even though matt duchene
might have felt uncomfortable, he continued to try his best at hockey. No matter what his former
teammates or current ones thought of him he continued to try hard. In the end his determination
helped him become the superstar he is today because his teammates started to appreciate

Summary Of Truth Is In The Ear Of The Beholder By Gregory...
Rumors tend to be successful not because of our logic or common sense, but because of our
surroundings. In Truth is in the Ear of the Beholder by Gregory Rodriguez he analyzes how and
why rumors are successful .There are many factors that may answer our question .But as
Rodriquez states, rumors thrive because those who hear them are predisposed to believe them .
People are not capabl3e of in taking I formation in an unbiased manner, as studies have
uncovered. Reason for this being is what Rodrigues calls, biased assimilation this means people
will process information given to them that agrees or identifies with their beliefs .Any
information given that may challenge peoples current beliefs is rejected in their minds. For
example the Barack Obama rumor which stated that he wasn t a U.S born citizen. Many
believed he wasn t as for many it was based on the person s beliefs. But while listeners rejected
evidence that opposed their point of views, some people weren t buying the evidence of Obamas
proof of birth certificate. This is where biased assimilation plays a huge role.... Show more content

Rodriguez emphasizes some factors that might answer our question such as educational level or a
person s occupation. But a survey conducting research based on conspiracy theories resulted in the
theory of education and occupation playing a role in successful rumors as being wrong. Though it
may still be insignificant. There might also be another theory by psychologist Robert H Knapp s
stating that, rumors express and gratify the emotional need . This quote might also explain why
rumors are spread during difficult periods in time. Rumors tend to give comfort to people during
catastrophic events, and somehow helps us better understand the world we live

Alberta Oil Sands Case Study
The Alberta Oil Sands have affected many stakeholder groups such as government, residents,
researchers and employees. However, we will focus on how it affects the Alberta Government;
specifically, Ed Stlemech of the Conservative Government. As my stake holder, Ed Stlemech does
not live within the Alberta Oil Sandsarea as well as have any direct relevance to it, I will instead
examine how it has affects the citizens of Albertaand more importantly, those who live in and near
the Fort Chipewyan area. In this way, the environmental, the economical as well as the societal
impacts will impact Albertan voters and therefore impact the Conservative Government in way of
the Alberta General Election.

This 1.4 trillion dollar industry has been able to benefit Albertans. To elaborate, Alberta s
upstream energy sector, which mainly includes the oil sands, conventional oil as well as gas and
mining has provided 133,053 jobs for Alberta residents, according to Statistics Canada. As well,
having the third largest oil reserves in the world, Canada is able to use the oil reserves as a
trading asset, as it is currently providing 1.4 million barrels of oil to the USA everyday, which is
equivalent to $49.7 million at current stock prices. As well, $52 billion dollars in royalty were
accounted for during 2013 14. In this way, the oil sands industry provides jobs, billions of dollars
in royalties and boosts national income and prosperity through the trading of this resource. This
affects my stakeholder since this would give Ed Stlemech a healthy financial resume/profile to an
otherwise terrible environmental and societal resume while he was Alberta s

Authority And Structure At A Young Age
Regardless of the viewpoints that we have toward law enforcement, this profession emulates the
values, principals, and structure that God wants for us in our lives. Without this profession, society
could not survive as needed for continued growth and prosperity. Law enforcement over the years
has retained a general purpose of protecting and serving the public. While preforming this general
purpose to the public, law enforcement reflects the values of God. Even though there can be
numerous relations between godly values and law enforcement, today I will reflect only on what I
believe are the three most directly connected (1) Authorityand Structure (2) Self Control (3)
Discipline.
Now let us take a look closer at these three specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless if we like the authority, God does not allow us to disobey. God never says that we must
like or agree with what the authority says, only be submissive to it. (www.christianity.about.com)
He even goes further than that and asks us to have confidence in our government and authority
figures. Just like a servant submits to his master, the better the servant works, better treatment the
servants gets because of the satisfaction of the master. Simply, God knows what is best for us, and
if we listen to his instruction and follow his rules, we will be rewarded. Submission to authority
takes an amount of self restraint and self control, we have to humble ourselves to others that have
been set above us.
Self Control is needed to live a fulfilled life as Christ wants to bless us fully. Law Enforcement
takes an extreme amount of self control at times when dealing with situations. Not all citizens
submit to authority, not all citizens show self restraint. During my time as a law enforcement
officer, I have dealt with a variety of criminals, victims and public. Over time situations arose
that forced me to show restraint. In May of 1992, officers lost self control, this loss of self
control led to violent and deadly riots in Los Angeles (www.abcnews.go.com). This event can be
evidence and proof of Proverbs 25:28 (NIV) like a city whose walls are broken through is a person
who lacks self control. Chaos always results in negative implications for society. Without

Short Essay On Robots
Robots used to be a futuristic fantasy seen on television, and in movies. Today though, robots are
becoming more prevalent in our daily lives. They are generally defined as machines that
automatically perform tasks with precision. A lot of robots include a computer that controls its
actions autonomously, others have a human controller, and occasionally it is a combination. As
technology advances, the use of robots is rapidly growing. Their use in the workplace increases
efficiency, and increases safety because they can do dangerous jobs humans would not normally
do. From the first robots used in manufacturing in the 1950s to now, their technology has advanced
to being used in an incredible number of fields in the present. In the future robots will create great
advancements in the fields of medicine, farming, military, science, and our daily lives.
To understand how robotics are and will be used in our daily lives it is important to know how
robots work. The most basic parts of robots are the physical frame, a motor, a sensor system, the
power supply, and a computer, that controls the robot. Most robots have movable joints, or wheels
which are controlled by an actuator, a mechanism that controls equipment (Gibilisco 1994). Lots of
robots, for example the common robotic arm, use individual step motors, which are motors that
move in exact increments, allowing for precise movements. Some robots are able to move on their
own, relying on response to outside stimuli. These robots

Tragedy Of Commons
Garrett Hardin s, The Tragedy of the Commons discusses the exploitation of common resources and
the inability to solve the problem with technical solutions. Hardin focuses on population and the
effect it has and will continue to have on what he refers to as the commons. The exploitation of
natural resources or the tragedy of the commons, as he puts it, refers to all resources that are not
formally regulated. Such resources include rivers, parks, the atmosphere, energy and so on. Robert
Wade and James Acheson take different approaches in how the use of commonproperty can help
address the tragedy of the commons. Hardin s primary focus is on the negative effects of a
continuous population growth and the welfare state s inevitable need to support population growth.
He often describes the optimum population being when growth rate approaches zero. This, he
points out, might lead us to believe that any population with an increasing growth rate must be
below its optimum however it is mostly the case that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two types of fishing areas play a role in the amount of mixed fishing that is allowed. The
more mixed an area is, the less chance of overstepping local boundaries. Nucleated fishing areas

didn t know about the existence of harbor gangs and how violent fishing can become.
Acceptance into a harbor game apparently isn t too difficult and mostly open to locals and those
willing to follow the local standards. Perimeter defended areas have sharper boundaries that
usually align with the location of their residence. Regardless of where the owner chooses to
anchor his boat, the area is his. Mixed fishing is less common here and the membership of harbor
gangs here is typically limited to families with land close to

The Tales of Bilgames are described as pre dating Gilgamesh s tales, a similarity in their quests
can be seen between the two. Their societies are also mentioned within both stories and they dealt
with Bilgames and Gilgamesh in a similar way; however, the way they deal with death and
mortality is very apparent. Even though there are slight differences in the two stories, the author of
Gilgamesh kept a majority of details the same. The society within Mesopotamia in both these
stories is one of polytheism, worshipping multiple gods and goddesses to lead them through life.
Bilgames and Gilgamesh are both rulers in Uruk because they are described as being the strongest
among them, and their parental lineage has a deity in their blood. When faced with a conflict,

life and that he will see his family and his friend Enkidu in the afterlife plus he will be

“Language Variation In American English Is Something That
Language variation in American English is something that all speakers of our language notice in
one way or another (Wolfram Christian, 1976). Dialect is a variation in language that is specific to
a region or group. There are many different dialects and variations of Standard American English,
but this research paper focuses on Appalachian English. Appalachian English varies heavily from
Standard American English in many ways such as; the vocabulary, morphology, syntax, and
phonology. With language variations comes many stereotypes and challenges that the speakers
have to overcome. Since a dialect other than our own sounds so different and often times wrong,
there are many misunderstandings and negative stigmas that surface. When... Show more content on

Some of the vocabulary is very similar to words you hear in Standard American English and are
often times derived from it. For example, when talking about a good writer, a mountaineer may
say a good scribe and a cemetery would be referred to as a burial ground (Hendrickson, 2000).
Conversely, there are some words that have no relation and seem to belong only to Appalachian
English. For example, a bag is often referred to as a poke and something that is unusually
crooked would be called sigogglin (National Geographic, 2014). So, if you were on a road with a
lot of curves and twists, a mountaineer would say, the road is sigogglin (Wolfram, 2008).
Sometimes, an individual will create a new word to describe something if they can t think of
another word. If someone is around to hear this word, they may start using it and then a chain
reaction occurs and sooner or later this sort of made up word becomes an accepted term
(Wolfram, 2008). Appalachian English is heavily made up of colloquialisms unique to its
territories (National Geographic, 2014). The morphology of Appalachian English also varies from
Standard American English. Often times, the g is omitted from words that end in ing (National
Geographic, 2014). They also do something called a prefixing which means, an a is placed at the
beginning of a word (Hamilton Hazen, 2008). An example would be, She was a runnin . Often
times, the plural s gets left off

The Negative Effects Of Peer Pressure On College Students
The four short years that people spend in college can be some of the best years of their lives.
Meeting new people, learning new things, and getting involved in clubs all contribute to this.
Although these years can be great, they also have the ability to damage our lives forever. Many
students fall victim to peer pressure, which occurs when a person or certain group of people tries
to force an individual to conform to how that person or group acts. Peer pressure can affect
college students physically, mentally, and socially. I feel as though this issue should be
addressed much more when it comes to college life. Peer pressure is not a new occurrence that
has only come to light within the last few years. It has happened since the beginning of time,
whether it be within friend groups, within the workplace, or within school settings. The idea of
peer pressure is already negatively viewed by many people, and rightfully so. Many people feel
as though they need to fit in with a group, so they fall victim to peer pressure. This is especially
true for freshman college students, who feel as though they need to do certain things and act a
certain way to fit in (Palmeri [1]). These social pressures make them do things they usually did
not do. The two most obvious things that students may fall into due to peer pressure is alcohol
and drug use. These are two substances that are almost always causing harm to people s health.
Excessive alcohol use is bad for several reasons, including

Enlightened Mentality Essay
When speaking about the generalization of Enlightenment, some may think back to the dated
history of 17th and 18th century and the intellectual movement in Europe. Although it was
specifically about the emphasis on rationality and focusing on learning and cultivating moral worth
within an individual, in the 21st century, the act of being enlightened can be taught and referred to
varying aspects. Specifically, there are ways in depth to achieve the enlightened mentality to
improve mental health and well being. Since there are many ways to achieve, some may be sought
out more than others such as with time and meditation, through psychedelic drugs that have
psychological effects, or by dreamconsciousness and logic, which can be comprehended within the
study of dreaming.
By pre enlightened mentality, it is to be clarified that it only has the means to describe one as not
enlightened, perhaps it could be easier to refer this term as Buddist Enlightenment or lack thereof.
Meditation is often a go to habitual practice that you can achieve mental goals to become
enlightened through time and patience. One example in contrast that would not help in the act of
meditation is having your mind cluttered with thoughts that pay no attention to the quality of
mental health and this may have to do with having an ego as well, always ... Show more content on

My Career In Energy Technology And Surface Chemistry
Background My career in energy technology and surface chemistry began in 2012, when I started
my master s coursework and research in electrochemistry at the University of Louisville s
Department of Chemistry. Since then I have developed an extensive skillset, focusing mainly on
the development and usage of semiconductor materials such as titanium oxide (TiO2), tin oxide
(SnO2), birnessite manganese oxide (b MnO2), and neodymium oxide (Nd2O3). I have extensively
studied the photophysics and photochemistry of energetic nanomaterials in order to explore the
fundamentals of charge transfer dynamics, catalytic properties, and mechanisms for the conversion
of solar energy to electric energy to produce renewable electricity. Later in my doctoral... Show

Understanding the basic science behind any new technology is the backbone for further
development for commercialization. I chemically linked gold nanoparticles and a molecular
conductor to prepare high efficiency solar cells. Recently, I employed the hybrid structure of
rare earth materials and TiO2 nanoparticles as another strategy in the development of high
efficiency solar cells. Rare earth materials are new to the research in solar cells. The current
guidelines for the preparation of solar cells in the Department of Chemistry at the University of
Louisville are based directly on my research. My work on lithium ion batteries, where I prepared
mesoporous b MnO2 as a cathode material, has been heavily cited world widely and becoming a
guideline for innovative new energy storage devices. After completing my doctoral degree at the
University of Louisville, I turned my focus to the surface chemistry of nanomaterials for preparing
bioconjugates, a continuation of my work on surface chemistry on nanomaterials during my
postdoctoral research. In another work during the postdoctoral research period, I was able to

Johnny Byron In Jerusalem
In Jerusalem, Johnny Byron is portrayed as an evil entity, compared throughout the play to
ogres, dragons, wolves and an outsider on the fringes of society. This could be interpreted as
Johnny being a monster, a character from a fairy tale full of magic that lures in innocent
children for their rites of passage and possible downfall. However, this could be seen as an
unfair interpretation of Byron due to suggestions of other more positive beings like the magic of
the Romany blood and a modern day Peter Pan. The fact that he s in the forest and the fringes of
society also alludes to Byron being an omniscient being. It shows Byron in a positive light because
of the escape he offers to the characters and the magic of the woods and what could be considered

  • 3. Two Standards Of Auditing As accountants and auditors, we are held to, and must comply with, two standards of professional conduct. Those standards are generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). GAAP enforces the uniform standards for preparing and presenting financial statements. GAAS governs the ways and means are used by public accountants when conducting an audit. GAAS establishes the standards for field work and mandates that sufficient evidence be found to provide reasonable assurance for issuing an audit opinion. Liability to Clients Please remember, as accountants we are held liable to our clients when we enter into contracts and are hired to perform services. The liability we face can come from items such as breach of contract, fraud and negligence. When an accountant enters into a contract, also known as an engagement, with a client the terms of said engagement are specified. In a contract an accountant has explicit and implicit duties. The accountant must perform all explicit duties in the contract. The implicit duties of the contract are implied, and the accountant agrees to perform them in a proficient and professional manner. If an accountant fails to perform the duties of the contract, he or she may be held in breach of the contract. An accountant may be found liable for two types of fraud. • 5. The Importance Of City Elections In Canada This paper will examine municipal elections in British Columbia, taking Surrey and Vancouver as direct examples to show that a ward system would be a much more fair and democratic way to elect city councils. Municipal elections in these two cities currently take place in an at large system. The argument behind why this system is superior is that city councils have a more citywide approach to representation, as opposed to a regional one. Many political scientists have argued that a ward system, which splits cities into districts that are all represented by at least a single councillor, are a better way to hold more democratic and representative elections. Because of the current lack of representation for some lower income or underprivileged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of ward systems is to make sure that all sections of a city are equally represented by at least a single councillor. Even though cities such as Vancouver have for some reason rejected it (as seen in 2004), it is a much more fair system to all citizens of a city. The at largesystem easily tends to favour wealthier communities in a city. When taking Vancouver as an example, the Berger Commission of 2004 found that [it] is generally accepted that the majority of city councillors have been from the West Side. As Rebecca Dhindsa puts it, the West Side is an area with higher incomes and less unemployment than Vancouver s East Side. This shows that councillors tend to run from wealthier segments of a city in at large systems. This can be because they may be more financially well off than the candidates from the underprivileged sections, which can affect campaign financing, or as the Berger Commission states, the richer and better educated have a greater chance of informing themselves on civic issues and participating in political affairs. The defence that this system is better for a council with a citywide focus is also largely false. Royce Koop and John Kraemer found that many councillors in at large municipalities still favour a certain area. When interviewing Councillor Bruce Hayne of Surrey, they were told this by him; I think everybody has some affinity to the geography of where they live. I live in Cloverdale so I ... • 7. Social Taboos In A View From The Bridge How does Miller engage with social taboos within A View from the Bridge? Homosexuality, incest, tragic heroes; Arthur Miller may have written about familial relationships but his plays are not for the whole family. His play A View from the Bridge depicts longshoreman Eddie Carbone and family in Red Hook, Brooklyn as they house his wife s immigrant cousins, with whom Eddie develops a rivalry resulting in his death. Miller juxtaposes Eddie s attitudes towards social taboos to explore his contrasting morality, eliciting both pity and scorn to establish a tragic hero at the centre of a modern tragedy. He achieves this by referencing homosexuality to demonstrate Eddie s paranoia and exposing his incestuous desires to evoke disgust, accentuating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The negative portrayal of Eddie as a proud, incestuous paranoiac is juxtaposed by the pity audiences are made to feel at Eddie s situation. Although we are reminded that Eddie s downfall is self inflicted, his situation is tragic because it could have been avoided, evoking both exasperation and pity. This duality is amplified in the scene where Eddie kisses Catherine then Rodolpho, evoking sympathy for his desperation but disgust at him kissing both his niece and another man, both social taboos. Eddie s contrasting interactions with the social taboos of homosexuality and incest, one as a romantic gesture and the other as an accusal, again portray him as both moral and immoral. Alfieri addresses this dichotomy in his final lines, saying that Eddie was wrong and not purely good, but himself purely , which was why I mourn him I admit it with a certain... alarm . The contrast between the opposite adjectives wrong and good and the chiasmus of the second above stated line highlight Eddie s duality. Meanwhile, Alfieri s hesitation implicit in his use of the phrase I admit it and the following ellipsis underline his conflicted thoughts, which are meant to mirror those of audiences. The fact that the latter is the play s closing line demonstrates the importance of Eddie s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The packet header shows the destination of the packet and often shows the length of the data in the message. The packet footer contains data that implies the end of the packet, such as a special sequence of bits known as a magic number. • 9. Education And Student Education Through my schooling so far, I have learned and read about education and student culture to put together a general philosophy about what I believe as a teacher. Beginning the middle level education program, my philosophy has evolved and strengthened based on the uniqueness of young adolescent needs. I believe that every child can learn and deserves equal opportunity in the classroom. I believe that young adolescents deserve a curriculum that accommodates whatever need they may have. I believe that every child deserves a teacher who will advocate for them academically and socially. This philosophy will continue to evolve as I continue my journey through the program. Young adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15 are going through numerous personal changes in types of development. They are at all different stages, so a classroom can vary greatly between individuals. Thinking patterns often change in middle school. Students begin to start relating things to their world and lives at a deeper level. Young adolescents face problems such as violence, body image, health, and drugs. In a school where there is so much the students are being exposed to, it has been found that it is difficult for them to make healthy decisions that benefit them. • 12. Essay Malcom X and Non-violence My life has always been one of changes (436). Malcolm X, throughout his life, was one of the most influential, and quite possibly the most effective, civil rights activists of the twentieth century. His radical ideas and views were widely sought after from the oppressed African American population in the 1950s and 60s. The changes he underwent throughout his life affected his views of a racist America and inspired him to lead a dedicated life preaching, what he thought to be, the only method of promoting change in the hearts and minds of every citizen in the United States; nonviolence. Anger and confusion were two very prominent themes throughout Malcolm s life with first, the death of his father, and then the removal of his mother from their family, also under a white man s order. Upon his arrival in Boston, Malcolm developed a strong criticism for the prejudice within the black community that had arose in the early 1940s. He was surprised to find the judgmental nature both classes had for each other in an attempt to increase their own status in artificial ways. Though Hill Negroes arguably had a better quality of life than the many unemployed black residents of Boston, their unwillingness to acknowledge the menial nature of their jobs while they look down on the poorer blacks makes them just as snobbish as the racist whites. Violence, ultimately, became a dominant force in Malcolm s life when he moved to the Harlem ghettos. His anger and hostility was slowly directed from the black population towards white America, but at the same time he blamed the black community draining the black ghetto of wealth. Malcolm believed that wealthy white people not only exploited poor blacks on a daily basis, but also contribute to the profound lack of opportunity in Harlem. It is for this reason he begins to blame the white community for driving them into the spiral of crime, drugs, deceit, and poverty, giving them no other option than the hustler s life; it wasn t much longer that Malcolm, himself, started to run numbers across the city ... Tolkien In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, J.R.R Tolkien uses many different dimensions to keep the poem interesting. Each dimension that is presented has a contradiction, making the poem somewhat of a fantasy. By using these techniques Tolkien makes the poem more humorous and psychological. As a Christian knight Sir Gawain comes across many obstacles that attempt to lead him astray. He tries to make all the correct actions in his conquest, however sin and temptation force him to decide between good and evil. Although Tolkien presents a tale of a knight s chivalry and honor as well as the aspect of death, some of the situations are presented as comedic. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By taking Lady Bertilak s girdle, he puts his faith into something material and also jeopardizes his relationship with Bertilak. When Gawain takes this girdle he is not only acting for himself but his whole assembly of knights. When he goes back and tells his adventure, they all seem to be humbled by Gawain taking the girdle, when in fact they are actually just laughing at themselves, because they also have to wear the girdle. Although humor plays an important role in the poem of the Green Knight, Tolkien also adds psychological effects in the poem as well. The element of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight that involves the most psychological devices is when Lady Bertilak tries to seduce Gawain. While this is happening, Bertilak is out hunting game to give to Gawain as a gift. In return for Bertilak s gift, Gawain would also give a gift to Bertilak. Each day Bertilak presents a different animal to Gawain, and Gawain gives Bertilak a kiss. Gawain is not aware that with every different animal Bertilak hunts, Gawain embodies the characteristics of that animal when the Lady attempts to seduce him. As the days go on, Gawain s characteristics become complex and more involved. Finally on the third day he embodies the fox, which is cunning and sly and will do anything to get out of a peculiar situation. So Gawain does exactly this; he takes the girdle so he can escape from the evil temptations of Lady Bertilak. Along with every other dimension, this too has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A positive relationship between chairman and CEO facilitates an open non judgmental quality discussion in the boardroom (Kakabadse et al. 2006, p.141), thus improving board performance. According to Hossack (2006, p.1), the ultimate beneficiary of a strong chair CEO relationship is their company, as they are performing distinct roles, while supporting each other. However Murden (2012) argues that such a relationship would be rewarding to both of them. When CEO needs mentoring, the chair would offer valuable counsel. Robert (2002, p.493) states that the chairman positively contributes to CEO performance. The chair being the performance evaluator of the CEO, the trust and respect between them cannot be overemphasized (Kiel 2012, p. 233). Likewise CEO would be genuinely disclosing the important matters to the chair, without last hour surprises. It is the responsibility of chair to get to know from the CEO, of current transactions on matters concerned to the board (Kiel 2012, p.233). A harmonious relationship between chairman and CEO can help an organization to resolve even severe issues (Kakabadse et al. 2006, p.147) (Murden 2012). Smith regards the division of labour and the resultant specialization as the key to increasing the productivity of labour, rather than the increase in mechanization since the Industrial Revolution began, as many would argue. Naturally, a highly specialized economic unit would be dependent upon interaction with other, similarly specialized units, and Smith illustrates that a system of fair and accessible trade is necessary for an efficient use of labour. The much quoted example of the pin maker is used to demonstrate Smith s point about the division of labour. Despite its questionable accuracy, this example does much to illustrate the plight of labour under a system of increasing specialization. He reluctantly supported the invasion of Manchuria and the war against China, and attempted to encourage cooperation with Britain and the USA. However, he had no choice but to approve the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that led to war between Japan and the United States in December 1941. Despite his lack of enthusiasm over the decision to go to war, he was pleased with the Japanese military and naval successes that followed. He frequently appeared in military uniform to raise morale. By the spring of 1945, the defeat of Japan seemed imminent. The Japanese government was deeply divided between military leaders who favoured continuing the war and civilians who wanted to negotiate for peace. Hirohito appears to have favoured peace. Following the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Hirohito insisted that Japan surrender. On 15 August 1945, he made a radio broadcast announcing the end of the war this was the first time the people of Japan had heard the voice of their emperor. Some Allied leaders wanted to try Hirohito as a war criminal. General Douglas MacArthur, who was in charge of the United States occupying forces in Japan, felt it would be easier to introduce democratic reforms if Hirohito ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Often time companies find themselves under strict regulations and scrutiny when they have misappropriated those regulations. Some companies have opted to outsource to avoid environmental regulations and fines in many locations. Another basic principle advises companies that plan to outsource to seek to do no harm to the ecological systems of the world regardless of what environmental regulations may not be in place in the location of choice for outsourcing. By making ethical choices as such help to build and protect the company s image. It shows that they have good character in the decision that they make and how they impact the environment. Companies receive backlash from choosing to outsource job functions when it causes a reduction in their workforce from layoffs. Scotland has a thriving, yet often overlooked, fashion industry with independent labels and boutiques appearing online and throughout major cities. Having witnessed graduate fashion shows in and seeing the proportion of graduate designers continue their careers in fashion through business start ups, it occurred to me that the minority of these entrepreneurs are male. This dissertation is important to understanding whether traditional theories of minority entrepreneurs hold true across industry to industry or whether it is just a generalised stereotype which no longer exists. Although the fashion industry is associated with art and creativity and not so much the black and white world of business and finance, in order for an industry to thrive there must be a board of business directors or business savvy owners to create profit. Nonetheless, prejudice still persists amongst females in the business world which can transfer across from industry to industry and although the fashion is associated with an art form, there is still the black and white business side which is controlled by males too. In business start ups it is easier for men to break into the world of business as they do not have to face the added pressure of prejudice for being female. Therefore, this dissertation seeks to make a contribution towards abolishing the branding of females being considered as minority entrepreneurs through the study of fashion start ups. 3.Research Question, Aims and ... People are not capabl3e of in taking I formation in an unbiased manner, as studies have uncovered. Reason for this being is what Rodrigues calls, biased assimilation this means people will process information given to them that agrees or identifies with their beliefs .Any information given that may challenge peoples current beliefs is rejected in their minds. For example the Barack Obama rumor which stated that he wasn t a U.S born citizen. Many believed he wasn t as for many it was based on the person s beliefs. Just like a servant submits to his master, the better the servant works, better treatment the servants gets because of the satisfaction of the master. Simply, God knows what is best for us, and if we listen to his instruction and follow his rules, we will be rewarded. • 42. Short Essay On Robots Robots used to be a futuristic fantasy seen on television, and in movies. Today though, robots are becoming more prevalent in our daily lives. They are generally defined as machines that automatically perform tasks with precision. A lot of robots include a computer that controls its actions autonomously, others have a human controller, and occasionally it is a combination. As technology advances, the use of robots is rapidly growing. Their use in the workplace increases efficiency, and increases safety because they can do dangerous jobs humans would not normally do. From the first robots used in manufacturing in the 1950s to now, their technology has advanced to being used in an incredible number of fields in the present. In the future robots will create great advancements in the fields of medicine, farming, military, science, and our daily lives. To understand how robotics are and will be used in our daily lives it is important to know how robots work. The most basic parts of robots are the physical frame, a motor, a sensor system, the power supply, and a computer, that controls the robot. Most robots have movable joints, or wheels which are controlled by an actuator, a mechanism that controls equipment (Gibilisco 1994). Lots of robots, for example the common robotic arm, use individual step motors, which are motors that move in exact increments, allowing for precise movements. Some robots are able to move on their own, relying on response to outside stimuli. These robots ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many students fall victim to peer pressure, which occurs when a person or certain group of people tries to force an individual to conform to how that person or group acts. Peer pressure can affect college students physically, mentally, and socially. I feel as though this issue should be addressed much more when it comes to college life.
