This document provides a summary of the Ponder and Pass technique, an informal pre-assessment activity where students write down what they know, want to learn, and any questions about an upcoming topic before a lesson. The teacher first tells students the topic and then passes a notepad around for students to write down their existing knowledge, skills to learn, and any questions on the topic. Examples are provided of how students can structure their responses using a KWL format of what they Know, Want to know, and want to Learn.
