A polynomial is a mathematical expression consisting of terms which may include numbers and variables, where terms are products of numbers and variables. There are different types of polynomials defined by the number of terms they contain, including monomials (one term), binomials (two terms), and trinomials (three terms). The degree of a polynomial is the highest exponent on any variable in the expression.
