Can Kanye West Save Gap? Real-Time Consumer Social Media Segmentation On CARTOCARTO
Kanye West's partnership with Gap led to an initial boost in sales of his clothing line released through Gap. However, the long term impact is unclear as only two products have been released after 18 months. Spatial analyzed customer segments near 95 Gap stores and found the segments most likely to follow Kanye on social media increased their visits to those Gap locations by 3% after the partnership announcement. This indicates Kanye's influence had a short term positive impact on Gap visits for those stores, but the partnership will need to release more products and invest strategically to fully realize its potential to boost Gap's brand over the long run.

This document discusses how non-profits can leverage big data and analytics to improve fundraising. It begins by providing background on big data, defining it as vast volumes of unstructured and fast-moving data from many sources. It then discusses how big data is being used by large companies like UPS and IBM to optimize operations and make data-driven decisions. While non-profits currently rely mostly on smaller, structured data, the document advocates for creatively using even small amounts of data to personalize communications and engage donors across multiple channels. It outlines strategies non-profits can take to clean up data, understand donor behaviors and relationships, target younger audiences, and optimize fundraising efforts over the long term.
The document provides information about the key parts and operation of the Health Insurance Marketplace. Defining the Community
Your community should be within a specifically designated geographic location.
One must clearly delineate the following dimensions before starting the process of community assessment:
• Describe the population that is being assessed?
• What is/are the race(s) of this population within the community?
• Are there boundaries of this group? If so, what are they?
• Does this community exist within a certain city or county?
• Are there general characteristics that separate this group from others?
• Education levels, birth/death rates, age of deaths, insured/uninsured?
• Where is this group located geographically…? Urban/rural?
• Why is a community assessment being performed? What purpose will it serve?
• How will information for the community assessment be collected?
Assessment
After the community has been defined, the next phase is assessment. The following items describe several resources and methods that can be used to gather and generate data. These items serve as a starting point for data collection. This is not an all-inclusive list of resources and methods that may be used when a community assessment is conducted.
The time frame for completion of the assessment may influence which methods are used. Nonetheless, these items should be reviewed to determine what information will be useful to collect about the community that is being assessed. It is not necessary to use all of these resources and methods; however, use of a variety of methods is helpful when one is exploring the needs of a community.

Demographics of the Community
• When demographic data are collected, it is useful to collect data from a variety of levels so comparisons can be made.
• If the population that is being assessed is located within a specific setting, it may be best to contact that agency to retrieve specific information about that population.

Thanks to computers, it is easier to collect and obtain data for a grant proposal than ever before. There’s so much data, though, that it can difficult to determine which data to present—especially when grant applications only allow concise answers.
This webinar explains which data grantmakers are looking for, and where to present statistics and other information within the grant proposal. Multiple examples from actual, funded grant proposals will show how data solves grant writers’ most knotty problems by creating need statements, formulating project objectives, devising evaluation measures, and more.

Social Media is increasingly being used by Canadian registered charities for a number of different purposes including advancing programs, marketing and fundraising. Most regulation of charities occurred prior to the advent of social media, however, registered charities that use social media are expected to be aware of and comply with legal requirements whether in the realm of social media or otherwise. Social media’s ease of use and decentralized nature can result in mission drift and confusion over the charity's priorities, incorrect or inappropriate information being disseminated widely, and alienation of stakeholders. Is that charity employee on Twitter representing his/her own views or that of the charity? As with any new technology there are risks that registered charities need to be aware of and plan for to make social media an important and positive contribution to their charitable work.
Attendees Will Walk Away With:
• An understanding of the rules that apply to charities who use social media.
• An awareness of the rewards as well as the pitfalls and risks of engaging with social media.
• The know-how required to reasonably minimize the mistakes made with social media, alienation of stakeholders, and embarrassment for a charity.

Meeting the Needs of Housing Finance Agencies Using Data and MapsPolicyMap
More and more, state housing finance agencies are using data to see where geographically the greatest areas of need are, what types of populations are in those places, and to guide planning, research and evaluation efforts. It’s surprisingly easy for HFAs to use readily available data to improve their work. During this webinar, presenters from Illinois Housing Development Authority, Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, and North Carolina Housing Finance Agency will describe the exciting work they’re doing with data and mapping.
This document discusses using data to understand and improve community health. It outlines how analyzing social determinants of health like income, education, housing, and access to food and healthcare at the zip code level can help identify health disparities. The document provides examples of data that can be mapped, like rates of poverty, income inequality, affordable housing, educational attainment, reading proficiency, food access, life expectancy, rates of uninsured individuals, opioid prescription rates, and medically underserved areas. The goal is to understand how community and social factors shape health outcomes and identify vulnerable populations.
Geography determines success. PolicyMap helps educators and community leaders to identify social disparities more efficiently and work toward solving problems. Join us for a free webinar on Thursday, October 18th to see how our tool allows neighborhood-level visualization of social challenges. Indicators covered will include poverty, access to housing, education, healthy food, healthcare and our new Social Needs Index.

Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. This presentation delves into the technical innovations underlying TENNs, presents real-world benchmarks, and elucidates how this cutting-edge approach is positioned to revolutionize edge AI across diverse applications.
Programming Foundation Models with DSPy - Meetup SlidesZilliz
Prompting language models is hard, while programming language models is easy. In this talk, I will discuss the state-of-the-art framework DSPy for programming foundation models with its powerful optimizers and runtime constraint system.
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?
