This document summarizes a 3-day police K9 decoy seminar to be held from September 7-9, 2021 in Athens, Georgia. The seminar will provide 24 hours of classroom and practical instruction to up to 15 law enforcement participants on improving decoy skills to enhance patrol K9 performance. Topics will include reading K9 behavior, drive manipulation, catching dogs safely, and techniques for foundation and skills training. Specific skills taught will be using decoys to condition dogs, work with passive suspects, channel drives, eliminate equipment orientation, and integrate fundamentals into real-world scenarios. The goal is to increase patrol K9 abilities and handler success in certification through conflict-free training.
