Poka-Yoke is the Japanese design philosophy of 'error-proofing'... and it's totally awesome. It's the idea that we can design products or interfaces in a way that makes it literally impossible for the users to mess up. Every day people interact with Poka-Yoke designs without thinking about it... And that's exactly the point. When a design is error-proof, no thought is required on the part of the user. There’s no possibility of them making a mistake — so they don’t need to put any thought in. In his talk, Chris will talk about some examples of how Poka-Yoke is being used in everyday design. He'll then talk about how this concept can be applied to digital interactions, with some practical examples.
