Pilipinolohiya - it maintains that we should have our own purpose, set our own intellectual course, and steer
our own ideology in the service of the Filipino and for the betterment of our society.
kapwa - this is a Filipino term which also means an extension of oneself.
Pakikibagay - it is an act of conformity.
Pakikipagpalagayang-loob - it refers to the act of mutual trust.
Pantayong Pananaw - According to this concept the significance of “history” is about finding the meaning
of past events.
Social Problem - is an issue within the society that makes it difficult for people to achieve their full
potential. It involves many people who consider a condition as undesirable and can be solved through
corrections and behavioral changes through social planning.
Example: Mismanagement of organizations and other government agencies
Individual problem - A problem which is felt by only one person or a small group of people.
Reinhardt - He defined social problem as a situation confronting a group or a section of society which
inflicts injurious consequences that can be handled only collectively.
Walsh and Furfey - Social problem is seen as a deviation from the social ideal remediable by group effort.
Merton and Nisbet - defined social problem as a way of behavior that is regarded by a substantial part of a
social order as being in violation of one or more generally accepted or approved norms.
Raab and Selznick - they hold that a social problem is a problem of human relationship which seriously
threatens society or impedes the important aspirations of many people.
Horton and Leslie - social problem is ‘a condition which many people consider undesirable and want to
correct.
objective - component of social problem wherein it can be observed, verified, and measured by impartial
social observers.
subjective - component of social problem wherein the members states that the objective condition is a
problem and must be acted upon.
Bullying - It refers to the ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal,
Physical and/or social behavior that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm.
