Poem Recitation: How Do We Breathe Our Last
- 1. HOW DO WE BREATHE OUR LAST How do we breathe our last? when we have set up dead traps Right in the middle of it all? How do we breathe our last? When the sky is grey from blue and flowers that made us fresh are no where to be found How do we breathe our last When stars are invincible, waters polluted , skies blurry, wildlife zero and trees massacred? What do we tell our kids when they wonder how beautiful a butterfly is? we couldn't protect what has been given for free? Who do we fear more, Ghosts of those we've massacred or the ravaging pandemic? Say covid is here to stay and tomorrow doesn't come again. Because we've crushed it Say we never get to breathe anew Because we've trashed the air Say we never get to see bees or butterflies again Say we never get to see them; beautiful and flying. Because we've poisoned trees and poisoned plants. Green today, grey tomorrow Say we never get to see the park green again, Say we spend our last days watching the sun burn our skins , inhaling gases and crap air . choked with waste, broken glasses, dead trees, and poisons in our food Cant you see? That If it doesn't stop Our lives will be at stake?
- 2. And we will be long gone before covid catches up with us? Some fingers are crossed As we await a cure Our swords in Harmony as we fight a sworn enemy yet we strangle the air that we breathe Cant you see? That we are taking a walk to the land of no return? Cant you see The dead traps we have set up right in the middle of it all? So you tell me what will kill us first? Covid or what we've done to the earth? Here's a chance..... to Save trees and save lives 《 AMRAH ALIYU 》
