This document discusses plans for a group of year 5-6 students to use a newly planted podocarp forest area of their school for learning. The students suggested using the forest for science, art, survival activities, and gardens. The teacher incorporated these ideas by having an expert discuss the plants, allowing art and garden projects, and using the forest as an outdoor classroom. Students then took photos in the forest and classified plants using technology back inside. The project to utilize the podocarp forest for learning is still underway.
