This study investigated whether parental stress or low socioeconomic status (SES) increased the effect of traffic-related air pollution and prenatal tobacco smoke exposure on the incidence of childhood asthma. It found that maternal asthma was associated with an increased risk of several diseases in offspring, including infectious diseases, diseases of the nervous system, ear, respiratory system, and skin. Maternal asthma may also increase the risk of endocrine disorders, digestive diseases, and malformations in offspring. This is one of the first studies to suggest that asthma during pregnancy can increase the risk of a wide range of pediatric diseases beyond the perinatal period. Careful monitoring of asthmatic pregnant women and their children is warranted.

TRPA1 is a sensory neuronal ion channel that plays a key role in airway inflammation and hyperreactivity in asthma. The study found that genetic deletion or pharmacological inhibition of TRPA1 in a mouse model of asthma significantly reduced leukocyte infiltration in the airways, decreased cytokine and mucus production, and almost completely abolished airway hyperreactivity to contractile stimuli. In contrast, deletion of TRPV1 did not affect asthmatic airway inflammation. This suggests that TRPA1 is a major neuronal mediator of allergic airway inflammation and represents a promising target for treating asthma.

Introduction
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a
developmental disorder with increasing
reported prevalence worldwide (French et al.
2013). Although genetics plays a strong role
in ASD, evidence suggests that environmental
exposures, particularly in utero or during early
life, also affect ASD risk (Grønborg et al.
2013; Hallmayer et al. 2011; Quaak et al.
2013). However, no specific environmental
toxicant has been consistently associated with
increased risk of ASD.
Air pollution contains various toxicants
that have been found to be associated with
neurotoxicity and adverse effects on the fetus
in utero (Crump et al. 1998; Grandjean and
Landrigan 2006; Rice and Barone 2000;
Rodier 1995; Stillerman et al. 2008). Airborne
particles are covered with various contami-
nants, and have been found to penetrate the
subcellular environment and induce oxidative
stress and mitochondrial damage in vitro (Li
et al. 2003; MohanKumar et al. 2008). In
rodents, these particles also have been found
to stimulate inflammatory cytokine release
systemically and in the brain, and alter the
neonatal immune system (Hertz-Picciotto
et al. 2005, 2008; MohanKumar et al.
2008)—processes that have been implicated
in ASD (Depino 2013; Napoli et al. 2013).
Several studies have explored associations
of air pollution with ASD, using the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
hazardous air pollutant models, distance to
freeway, or local models for specific pollutants.
These studies suggest increased odds of having a
child with ASD with higher exposures to diesel
particulate matter (PM) (Roberts et al. 2013;
Windham et al. 2006), several metals (Roberts
et al. 2013; Windham et al. 2006), criteria
pollutants (Becerra et al. 2013; Volk et al.
2013), and some organic materials as well as
closer proximity to a freeway (Volk et al. 2011).
Our goal was to explore the association
between ASD and exposure to PM during
defined time periods before, during, and
after pregnancy, within the Nurses’ Health
Study II (NHS II), a large, well-defined
cohort with detailed residential history. This
nested case–control study includes partici-
pants from across the continental United
States, and exposure was linked to monthly
data on two size fractions of PM.
Methods
Participants. The study population included
offspring of participants in NHS II, a
prospective cohort of 116,430 U.S. female
nurses 25–43 years of age when recruited
in 1989, followed biennially (Solomon
et al. 1997). NHS II participants originally
were recruited from 14 states in all regions
of the continental United States, but they
now reside in all 50 states. The study was

This systematic review analyzed 24 studies that investigated the relationship between ambient air pollution exposure and otitis media (OM) in children. The studies included cohort, case-control, case-crossover, and cross-sectional designs from Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. Most studies found an association between higher levels of air pollution, especially nitrogen dioxide, and increased risk of OM in children. However, the evidence for specific pollutants was inconsistent. More research is needed, particularly in low-income countries with high air pollution.

This study examined the relationship between trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and fears among 449 Palestinian children in Gaza. The results found that children commonly reported traumatic events like seeing injured Palestinians on TV or experiencing deprivation of utilities. Over half reported fears like screaming at planes or being afraid of strangers. 12.4% met full criteria for PTSD. Higher exposure to trauma was associated with greater PTSD symptoms and more reported fears. The study concluded that Palestinian children continued to experience substantial trauma, fears, and PTSD even years after warfare, highlighting the need for interventions to help children cope.
Genetic epidemiology studies the distribution and risk factors of diseases based on genetic and environmental causes. It employs study designs like family, twin, adoption, and migration studies to identify the joint contribution of genes and environment to complex diseases. Family studies examine disease patterns within families to infer genetic patterns. Twin studies estimate genetic and environmental influences on diseases by comparing identical and fraternal twin pairs. Adoption studies compare disease risk between biological and adoptive relatives to identify genetic and environmental sources. Migration studies examine disease rate changes between immigrants and their ancestral populations to identify cultural and environmental risk factors.
Environmental Pollutants and Disease in American: Children: Estimates of Morbidity, Mortality, and Costs for Lead Poisoning, Asthma, Cancer, and Developmental Disabilities
This document summarizes a research study that examined whether the quality of the relationship between mothers with HIV/AIDS and their children moderated the association between children's knowledge of their mother's illness and the children's psychosocial adjustment. The study involved 86 African American mother-child dyads where the mothers had HIV/AIDS. It found that a warm and supportive mother-child relationship buffered against externalizing difficulties in children who knew of their mother's illness, more so than in children who did not know. The quality of the relationship did not moderate the association between knowledge and children's internalizing difficulties. This suggests that a positive relationship can protect children from some negative impacts of knowing about their mother's stigmatized and serious illness.

Pregnant women may nearly double their risk of giving birth to a child with autism by inhaling smog spewed by vehicles or smoke stacks, according to a new Harvard study that could help unlock the deepest autism mysteries.
The research fortifies previous scientific findings that linked air pollution to autism. And it offers fresh insights by showing women in their third trimesters seem most vulnerable if they breathe in elevated levels of tiny airborne particles emitted by power plants, fires and automobiles.
1) Asthma prevalence has increased worldwide to over 300 million patients according to recent studies. While death rates have decreased in many countries, asthma remains a significant global health burden.
2) Many risk factors are associated with asthma, including genetics, environmental exposures like tobacco smoke, indoor and outdoor pollution, diet, obesity, and lack of early childhood infections. However, the exact causes remain unclear as factors often interact.
3) Early life exposures may be particularly important as certain risk factors can program the developing immune system. Preventive strategies aim to modify risk factors like smoking, air pollution, and diet while also addressing specific sensitivities through allergen immunotherapy.
Rhinitis and asthma are linked diseases that often co-exist. They are both chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways that share common triggers and inflammatory pathways. Up to 80% of asthma patients have rhinitis and 40% of rhinitis patients have asthma. Rhinitis is a risk factor for developing asthma and is associated with worse asthma outcomes. Effective treatment of rhinitis can improve asthma control, reducing exacerbations and medication needs. Overall, rhinitis and asthma are considered linked manifestations of the same underlying airway disease process.

Proper use of inhalers and peak flow meters is important for effective management along with developing an asthma action plan.

Introduction
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a
developmental disorder with increasing
reported prevalence worldwide (French et al.
2013). Although genetics plays a strong role
in ASD, evidence suggests that environmental
exposures, particularly in utero or during early
life, also affect ASD risk (Grønborg et al.
2013; Hallmayer et al. 2011; Quaak et al.
2013). However, no specific environmental
toxicant has been consistently associated with
increased risk of ASD.
Air pollution contains various toxicants
that have been found to be associated with
neurotoxicity and adverse effects on the fetus
in utero (Crump et al. 1998; Grandjean and
Landrigan 2006; Rice and Barone 2000;
Rodier 1995; Stillerman et al. 2008). Airborne
particles are covered with various contami-
nants, and have been found to penetrate the
subcellular environment and induce oxidative
stress and mitochondrial damage in vitro (Li
et al. 2003; MohanKumar et al. 2008). In
rodents, these particles also have been found
to stimulate inflammatory cytokine release
systemically and in the brain, and alter the
neonatal immune system (Hertz-Picciotto
et al. 2005, 2008; MohanKumar et al.
2008)—processes that have been implicated
in ASD (Depino 2013; Napoli et al. 2013).
Several studies have explored associations
of air pollution with ASD, using the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
hazardous air pollutant models, distance to
freeway, or local models for specific pollutants.
These studies suggest increased odds of having a
child with ASD with higher exposures to diesel
particulate matter (PM) (Roberts et al. 2013;
Windham et al. 2006), several metals (Roberts
et al. 2013; Windham et al. 2006), criteria
pollutants (Becerra et al. 2013; Volk et al.
2013), and some organic materials as well as
closer proximity to a freeway (Volk et al. 2011).
Our goal was to explore the association
between ASD and exposure to PM during
defined time periods before, during, and
after pregnancy, within the Nurses’ Health
Study II (NHS II), a large, well-defined
cohort with detailed residential history. This
nested case–control study includes partici-
pants from across the continental United
States, and exposure was linked to monthly
data on two size fractions of PM.
Methods
Participants. The study population included

prospective cohort of 116,430 U.S. female
nurses 25–43 years of age when recruited
in 1989, followed biennially (Solomon

This systematic review analyzed 24 studies that investigated the relationship between ambient air pollution exposure and otitis media (OM) in children. The studies included cohort, case-control, case-crossover, and cross-sectional designs from Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. Most studies found an association between higher levels of air pollution, especially nitrogen dioxide, and increased risk of OM in children. However, the evidence for specific pollutants was inconsistent. More research is needed, particularly in low-income countries with high air pollution.

This study examined the relationship between trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and fears among 449 Palestinian children in Gaza. The results found that children commonly reported traumatic events like seeing injured Palestinians on TV or experiencing deprivation of utilities. Over half reported fears like screaming at planes or being afraid of strangers. 12.4% met full criteria for PTSD. Higher exposure to trauma was associated with greater PTSD symptoms and more reported fears. The study concluded that Palestinian children continued to experience substantial trauma, fears, and PTSD even years after warfare, highlighting the need for interventions to help children cope.
Genetic epidemiology studies the distribution and risk factors of diseases based on genetic and environmental causes. It employs study designs like family, twin, adoption, and migration studies to identify the joint contribution of genes and environment to complex diseases. Family studies examine disease patterns within families to infer genetic patterns. Twin studies estimate genetic and environmental influences on diseases by comparing identical and fraternal twin pairs. Adoption studies compare disease risk between biological and adoptive relatives to identify genetic and environmental sources. Migration studies examine disease rate changes between immigrants and their ancestral populations to identify cultural and environmental risk factors.
Environmental Pollutants and Disease in American: Children: Estimates of Morbidity, Mortality, and Costs for Lead Poisoning, Asthma, Cancer, and Developmental Disabilities
This document summarizes a research study that examined whether the quality of the relationship between mothers with HIV/AIDS and their children moderated the association between children's knowledge of their mother's illness and the children's psychosocial adjustment. The study involved 86 African American mother-child dyads where the mothers had HIV/AIDS. It found that a warm and supportive mother-child relationship buffered against externalizing difficulties in children who knew of their mother's illness, more so than in children who did not know. The quality of the relationship did not moderate the association between knowledge and children's internalizing difficulties. This suggests that a positive relationship can protect children from some negative impacts of knowing about their mother's stigmatized and serious illness.

Pregnant women may nearly double their risk of giving birth to a child with autism by inhaling smog spewed by vehicles or smoke stacks, according to a new Harvard study that could help unlock the deepest autism mysteries.
The research fortifies previous scientific findings that linked air pollution to autism. And it offers fresh insights by showing women in their third trimesters seem most vulnerable if they breathe in elevated levels of tiny airborne particles emitted by power plants, fires and automobiles.
1) Asthma prevalence has increased worldwide to over 300 million patients according to recent studies. While death rates have decreased in many countries, asthma remains a significant global health burden.
2) Many risk factors are associated with asthma, including genetics, environmental exposures like tobacco smoke, indoor and outdoor pollution, diet, obesity, and lack of early childhood infections. However, the exact causes remain unclear as factors often interact.
3) Early life exposures may be particularly important as certain risk factors can program the developing immune system. Preventive strategies aim to modify risk factors like smoking, air pollution, and diet while also addressing specific sensitivities through allergen immunotherapy.
Rhinitis and asthma are linked diseases that often co-exist. They are both chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways that share common triggers and inflammatory pathways. Up to 80% of asthma patients have rhinitis and 40% of rhinitis patients have asthma. Rhinitis is a risk factor for developing asthma and is associated with worse asthma outcomes. Effective treatment of rhinitis can improve asthma control, reducing exacerbations and medication needs. Overall, rhinitis and asthma are considered linked manifestations of the same underlying airway disease process.
This study examined the prevalence of atopic dermatitis symptoms among students in Kurdistan, Iran. A survey was conducted of 3,890 students ages 6-7 and 13-14 using the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) questionnaire. The results found that the prevalence of itchy rashes in the past 12 months was 8.9%, and was higher in boys than girls and in the older age group of 13-14. The prevalence of flexural rashes was 10.3%. The study aims to understand the epidemiology of atopic dermatitis in the region to help guide public health planning and identify potential environmental factors.
This study reviewed the literature on the health effects of cooking with solid fuels in developing countries. It found that solid biomass fuel use is associated with increased risk of respiratory diseases. However, the effectiveness of improved cookstove interventions in reducing health risks is unclear as most studies only measured symptoms rather than objective health outcomes. Future research with reliable exposure biomarkers is still needed to determine the impact of improved cookstoves on health.

Descriptive study assists in providing information about a disease or condition, providing clues to identify a new disease or adverse health effect, identifying the extent of the public health problem, obtaining a description of the public health problem that can be easily communicated, identifying the population at greatest risk, assisting in planning and resource allocation, and identifying avenues for future research that can provide insights about an etiologic relationship between an exposure and health outcome (Merrill, 2013, p.88).
1. Identifying the extent of the public health problem

For example, it is conclusive that male are generally at a high risks to certain disease infection compared to females because of the differences in genetic, hormonal, inherited genes and other anatomical differences (Merrill, 2013, pp.120-121).

HR+ breast cancer means that the cancer cells grow in response to hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. This subtype is prevalent among postmenopausal women and typically exhibits a more indolent course compared to other forms of breast cancer, which allows for a variety of treatment options.
Diagnosis and Staging
The diagnosis of HR+ breast cancer begins with clinical evaluation, imaging, and biopsy. Imaging modalities such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI help in assessing the extent of the disease. Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining of the biopsy sample confirm the diagnosis and hormone receptor status by identifying the presence of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) on the tumor cells.

Endocrine Therapy
Endocrine therapy is the cornerstone of treatment for HR+ breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The primary goal is to reduce the levels of estrogen or block its effects on cancer cells. Commonly used agents include:
Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs): Tamoxifen is a SERM that binds to estrogen receptors, blocking estrogen from stimulating breast cancer cells. It is effective but may have side effects such as increased risk of endometrial cancer and thromboembolic events.
Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs): These drugs, including anastrozole, letrozole, and exemestane, lower estrogen levels by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which converts androgens to estrogen in peripheral tissues.
