Adli : Oh, I forgot to tell you. I’m no more with the club. I’ve decided that Softball is my
first choice of game this year.
Faisal : What? I can’t believe this! You are a good player. Don’t waste your talent.
Adli : I don’t think so. I can still play football without joining the club. Furthermore, I
want to try some other games and I find softball is interesting as well.
Faisal : But you can’t go far. Softball is not as popular as football. You can’t be as
famous as what you are with the football team.
Adli : My aim is not to be popular. I just want to enjoy sports. Be it football or softball,
I want to make sure my body is fit and I can mix with different kinds of people.
Faisal : I think Mr. Haslan will be disappointed to know this news. He always says
there’s no other goal scorer better than you.
Adli : I’ve informed him earlier. He understood and accepted my decision. You
know what? The good news is, he told me you’ll be appointed as the new
captain and Rasyid will take over my position.
Faisal : What? My best friend will be the new striker? I’m really happy. He’ll be very
happy if he knew that he’s no more a reserve.
Adli : Last year, he had showed tremendous improvement. He even scored a very
beautiful sudden death goal although he only replaced me when I was injured.
Mr. Haslan was very proud of him.
Faisal : I hope he’ll score more goals this season. By the way, good luck to you in
softball. I believe you can do well in football.
Adli : Thank you. Good luck to you too, Captain.

gasping for air
and a baby barely able to breathe
in a crowded morning clinic.
This land is so rich
Why should we suffer like this?
I want clean air
for my grandchildren
I want the damned fools
to leave the forest alone.
I want the trees to grow,

KERTAS SOALAN TAMAT
The boy he had been waiting for passed by and Zahid sprang out at him
like a hungry tiger. Dolah fell to the ground. Immediately, Zahid began hitting him,
first in the stomach and then on the jaw.
The other children tried to break up the fight, but without success. The two
boys kept on fighting. Zahid’s intense anger increased his strength and although
he ended up bruised and bloody, he finally won.
Dolah was completely exhausted. Zahid then opened Dolah’s bag. He
looked for the pencil. He found it. Then he broke it into bits and threw the pieces
into the river. Afterwards, he ran home as swiftly as lightning.
As soon as he reached home, he went and hugged his grandmother
around the neck. Then he buried his head in her lap, without saying a word. He felt
sad and dejected, deeply hurt.
