Editor's Notes
Today we are celebrating the 46th year anniversary of beloved PMMA Alumni Association - Our association sprung to life in August of 1969 initiated by graduates of PMMA Classes 66, 67,68 and 69. But before that let us not forget that there was an existing Alumni Association of PNS Graduates – the fore runners of PMMA.. Palakpakan po natin ang atng magigiting na seniors - Dahil kung hindi dahil sa inyo we will nothing to celebrate today!!
The founding group foresaw the need to consolidate efforts and work towards a common goal of brotherhood among its members and the upliftment of standards of the marine profession. the ideals of UNITY, Brotherhood and Professionalism among PMMA Alumni Association members.
Along those ideals, we also dreamed of having our own Alumni Center – After 46 years Our dream have come true.
Our Alumni Center is located at No. 5544 Boyle St. Palanan Makati City – Malapit po sa St. Claire Hospital…Our Dream come true after 46 years
It is a 2 storey Bldg with roof Deck with a total floor area of 634 sq. meter sitting on 240 sq. meters lot
The front area of the ground floor will be for rent as office space . With approximate price of P500/sq. meter the area is around 60 sq. meters.
While the rear portion with an area of approximate 30 sq. meters will be use as our Board room
Here is the floor plan layout of our ground floor TOTAL Floor area of ground floor is 186 sqm
On the 2nd floor will be our Secretariat office – floor area is approximately 14 sq. meters
there are also 4 big bedrooms which we intended to operate as dormitory or rented out as room package.
Here is the floor lay out plans – It has a total floor area of approximately 226 sqm
The roof Deck can be use for other functions it has an area of 222 sq. meters with covered area of approximately 46 sq. meters.

The PMMA Alumni Foundation is the registered owner of PMMA Alumni Center Building.
What is the PMMA Alumni Foundation for?
What are the objectives or purpose of having a PMMA Alumni Foundation?
Traditionally, our Association just relied on the usual sources to raise funds and that is Annual dues and fund raising projects notably Golf tournament in cooperation with Marinsports. However it was obviously not enough to raise the funds needed for our Alumni Center Building. Hence, During the leadership of our former President Capt. Jess Morales – he made a proposal for the Creation of PMMA Alumni Foundation
Having a PMMA Alumni Foundation Inc. would greatly facilitate the raising of funds not only from our Members but from outside of our Association as well… meaning we can solicit donation from our friends in the industry as well as our principals.
The Funds that will be raised under the Foundation can be applied for Tax exemption after 3 years of operation – we are now eligible to aspply for Tax Exemption
The PMMA Alumni Foundation Inc. will serve as the conduit of the Association with juridical personality to act as the registered owner of the PMMA Alumni Center. –Property registered under the ownership of a foundation can be exempted from real property tax upon our application
When the Foundation raises enough funds, it will serve as the Financial Arm of the PMMAAAI on the various activities and welfare programs of the Association – we can develop a more comprehensive welfare programs para sa ating mag members..maybe a medical insurance package dahil kadalasan e appeal for financial assistance pag naoospital ang ating na eencounter.
Taken into consideration all advantages of having a Foundation, The PMMAAAI Board of Directors officially approved its establishment on April 5, 2011.
Then on May 5, 2011 Securities and Exchange Commission issued her Certificate of Incorporation, barely 20 days after it was approved by the BOD.
But what is registered Purpose of the PMMAAFI?
SUMMARIZING the above – with PMMAAFI – we can engage into business to generate income for the benefit of its members
But who are the corporate officers of the PMMAAFI?
Since the purpose of putting up a PMMA Alumni Foundation is geared towards the welfare of PMMA Alumni Association- the Board of Trustees must be a member of the Association in good standing.
But who are the corporate officers of the PMMAAFI?
1. However every decision in the Board of Trustees is in close coordination with PMMA Alumni Association Board of Directors to ensure that the Objective and purpose of the Foundation is closely mantained.
4. This is to maintain the link between the Foundation and the Association
5. The Election of trustees follows right after the result of the Election of Board of Directors of the Association.
As I mentioned before, meron pa po tayong outstanding loan na P1.5 ke Capt. Morales
As you can see – lahat po ng PMMA Alumni Association members ay dapat maging members ng PMMA Alumni Foundation…. As of today Out of approximately 8,000 members ng Alumni Association ang member po ng foundation is jus 800
REGULAR MEMBERS – Any graduate of PMMA is automatically eligible as Regular Member
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS – Any graduate of PMMA Graduate School is automatically eligible as Associate Member
HONORARY MEMBERS – those who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of endeavor, so as their membership shall bring honor and prestige to the PMMAAAI as well as contribute to the attainment of the PMMAAAI goals and objectives
Ano namn po ang Lifetime Membership?
being a member of the PMMA Alumni Association meron po tayong annual dues obligation na P1000. and since wala po tayong mechanism na ma enforce ang collection… nagkarupn po tayo ng bagong scheme na Lifetime Membership..
In order to encourage all our members na mag participate sa ating programa . We offered Lifetime membership on both the PMMAAAI and PMMAFI.. If you donate a minimum of P12K to the Foundation you will become a lifetime member ng assoication at Foundation and your annual dues obligation sa PMMAAAI will be waved for good.. – wala na kayong babayarang annual dues. The P12K donation can be paid in installment within the period of 1 year.
Yung mga Alumni members na regular government employee like PMMA, PN, PCG will pay just 50% - meaning instead of P12K, they will pay P6K to become a lifetime member.
Lahat po ng pangalan ng mga Founding members will be included sa list na ating ilalagay sa ating Historic Wall sa loob ng Alumni center and that will be our LEGACY for the future generations to see… kaya wag na po tayong mag pa tumpik tumpik pa.. Donate now and be counted as one of the Founding members of PMMA Alumni Foundation.
Of course Ang pinag uusapan po natin na P6k and 12K ay minimum Donations…Those who will be willing to share their blessings more than the minimum ay WELCOME po.
And to give special distinction sa inyong generosity – Following Donors Category will apply….
Those who will donate more than P12K will be further categorize as either Bronze, Silver Gold Diamond double and triple… and your name will be engraved sa ating hsitoric wall
Another Marker for the special donors will be posted on the Historic Wall
All LIFEFTIME Members will be issued with Lifetime Membership ID
To further encourage everyone to become LIFETIME Member, The PMMA Alumni Association, Inc. has come-up with a Mutual Beneficial Concept wherein a select business establishment’s we’re shortlisted to serve as Business Partners of the PMMA Alumni Association. A selected Partner-entity is expected to actively participate in a cooperative agreement geared to promote and patronize the partner-entities Goods and Services by the PMMA Alumni General Membership and our Family Members and Friends.
OUR CHALLENGE HAS ALWAYS BEEN – HOW TO RELAY ALL THIS INFORMATION AND PROGRAMS TO OUR FELLOW ALUMNI MEMBERS
Given the recent explosion of technological advances, there are many new ways to share this information. Your Board will look at the mix of print and electronic media and address how best to keep alumni informed and in touch.
In addition, it will examine marketing strategies for existing programs and services and evaluate their effectiveness relative to the alumni participation. In order to develop more comprehensive communications strategy.
It is under this context that we are appealing to everyone here to please HELP us Spread the News… Kindly relay this information to all your Batch mates and encourage them to participate in our LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP Program
As of today Out of approximately 8,000 members ng Alumni Association ang member po ng foundation is just almost 600 – Actually meron pong mga almos 200 members pa na nag donate na hindi pa nakasama dyan… kase po ang kanilang donations ay hindi pa umabot ng P12,000
If we can Manage to encourage the remaining 7000+ member of our Alumni Association to become a lifetime member and donate at least P12K – The PMMA Alumni will be an P84 Million Pesos solidly funded Organization…ang sasabihin ng iba “e di wow” but I have no doubt in my mind that with our collective effort – This can be DONE!!
On behalf of PMMA Alumni Association Board of Directors – and inyo pong lingkod Guilbert Llamado
