Diverse Millennials find themselves up against a trifecta of pressures... however it is what they do under that pressure that defines who they are and where they are going. Meet the Hyper-Millennial... Visit our site for a free download.
It is estimated that by the year 2014, 36% of the workforce will be composed of Millennials, rising to nearly 50% in 2020. Born between 1981 and 2000, Millennials are a generation of individuals raised with technology and motivated by progress. Unlike previous generations, these individuals are disrupting traditional business models and demanding products that connect them with the world. Speed, innovation and collaboration are the key tools needed by organizations in order to keep this generation engaged. This presentation will examine the factors that differentiate Millennials from other individuals, offer insight into the unprecedented impact this generation is having on the enterprise, and detail strategies that companies may employ to transform Millennials’ unique abilities into a competitive advantage in today’s workplace.
The United States population in 2010 was 310 million people. While birthrates are falling, immigration is increasing and population is shifting from northern to southern states. The U.S. population is also aging, with over 40 million people over 65, which could stress financial programs like Social Security. Income inequality is rising between the rich and poor, threatening the large middle class. Poverty rates are highest for minorities, children, and female-headed households.
The document discusses observing current changes carefully and thoughtfully pondering how to act while hoping for the best outcome when voting in order to bless America and reduce waiting for the world.

A company called e-Copp, founded by police officers and mothers, created an educational program to teach children about internet dangers and how to stay safe online. Their goal is to prevent child victimization from online predators. They provide an example of a child who reported abuse to a school counselor after gaining courage, and e-Copp aims to be the catalyst that empowers children in this way. They ask people to help their mission by promoting e-Copp on their own websites and encouraging schools to adopt the program, and by spreading awareness on social media.

This document discusses research on population trends in rural Minnesota communities. It finds that while rural areas experienced population losses in the past due to young people moving away, more recently there has been a "brain gain" as educated 30-49 year olds move from urban to rural areas. This influx of newcomers has helped offset population losses in some rural communities. The document also examines who these newcomers are, their reasons for moving, and their intentions to remain in rural areas long-term. Finally, it proposes strategies to further attract and retain newcomers, such as marketing rural areas and facilitating connections between newcomers and local jobs, housing and community organizations.
Generational Giving, The Charitable Habits of Generation Baby Boomers and Mat...Blackbaud
Presented by Michael Johnston President and Founder of HJC
All generations are not created equal. Are you optimizing your outreach and
fundraising to connect with each group? In this 45 min session Michael will lead us
through key giving treads for the baby boomers and matures, offering tips and
tricks on how to optimize your fundraising efforts and much more. Boomers
contribute 43% of all giving, are you neglecting this important generation in your
everyday efforts?
This document discusses global and European demographic trends since World War 2 using tables and graphs. It shows that the world population has grown from 2.7 billion in 1955 to over 7.6 billion in 2018, with Europe's share declining from 22.8% to 9.73% over this period. Fertility rates have fallen globally but remain above replacement level in parts of Africa and Asia, contributing to continued overall population growth despite an aging population and urbanization.
The document summarizes findings from a June 2009 citizen market research report by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Office of Citizen Services. It provides key statistics on U.S. citizens, including demographics, internet adoption, technology use, and preferences for online engagement and government services. Specifically, it finds that over 75% of U.S. adults now use the internet, broadband access has grown significantly, and over half of adults connect wirelessly and use cloud services. However, internet access and use still varies based on age, income, education, and race.
This document outlines an event discussing the intersections of race and LGBTQ identity for queer and trans people of color. It begins with rules of engagement, then covers topics like statistics on discrimination faced by QTPOC, lack of representation in media which impacts perceptions, and debunking the myth of the "model minority." The document challenges attendees to consider how identities like being Asian American and queer cannot be separated, and how rejection from multiple communities can be experienced. It emphasizes the importance of embracing differences within community work.
Suburbanization grew dramatically in the United States after World War 2 as transportation infrastructure like highways and affordable housing in new suburbs drew middle and upper class residents out of cities. This mass movement to the suburbs transformed the US from a primarily urban to a primarily suburban nation, with important social, economic, and environmental consequences. Factors like the rise of car ownership and use, federal policies, and trends of single-family homes and nuclear families supported extensive suburban development through the 20th century.
Youth Tribes is a segmentation of the UK 16-24 market developed by Channel 4 to understand youth audiences. It identifies 23 tribes based on interviews with young people about influential groups in their areas. The tribes are grouped into 5 macro segments - Mainstream, Aspirant Mainstream, Alternative, Leading Edge, and Urban - to aid targeting. Detailed profiles of each segment are provided based on a survey of 4000 16-24s fused with TGI data. Examples show differences in attitudes, interests, and media consumption across segments.
The document discusses trends in rural populations including aging, increasing diversity, and economic challenges like poverty and access to healthcare. It notes that while rural areas now make up a smaller percentage of the total US population, the actual number living in rural areas has increased. The document also outlines new opportunities for regional transportation planning organizations to address the needs of changing rural populations under MAP-21.
This document provides an overview of a class presentation given by Samir Gambhir of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. The presentation discusses how maps can be used to effectively convey information about issues of equity and social justice. Specifically, maps allow for overlaying multiple data points, telling stories through spatial context, and engaging stakeholders through a visual format. Examples are given of how maps have been used to analyze opportunities for minority-owned businesses, hospital investments relative to minority neighborhoods, and targeting areas for advocacy around policies like the Earned Income Tax Credit.
This document discusses generational trends in the United States population from 1900 to 2050. It notes that the population is growing older as life expectancy increases, and the proportion of children and youth is declining while the proportion of seniors is increasing rapidly. Specific generations discussed include Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials. For each generation, key traits, values, and strategies for marketing and employment are outlined. The document emphasizes the importance of understanding new generations in order to stay current and avoid potential perils.
- Elder-Centric Villages (ECVs) aim to incentivize urban renewal in rural America by creating walkable, intergenerational communities within existing downtowns that provide senior housing and services. This allows seniors to age in place while attracting other residents.
- Rural communities face challenges as their populations age and suburbanization increases. ECVs position seniors as a catalyst for revitalizing struggling downtown areas and pursuing economic development initiatives.
- As the baby boomer population grows dramatically, their desire to remain active in intergenerational communities could provide economic opportunities for rural towns if seniors are engaged and downtowns are made appealing places for them to relocate to.
This document discusses creating aging-friendly communities in Wisconsin. It provides information on population aging globally, nationally, and in Wisconsin. The impacts of an aging population on communities are examined, including on families, housing, transportation and other areas. Attributes of aging-friendly communities are outlined. The document also discusses assessing community readiness and provides examples of Wisconsin communities that have started planning to address the needs of an aging population.

This document summarizes trends in New Jersey's population by age group between 2000 and 2013. It finds that while Millennials make up a large generation, NJ's 22-34 population has declined as Millennials have aged. Many likely moved to cheaper housing elsewhere. However, Millennials who have stayed in NJ prefer compact, walkable places with a high density of destinations. Generation X showed a similar preference when they were young adults. While older generations like Baby Boomers moved to suburbs as they aged, Generation X has retained some preference for walkable urbanism in early middle age. The trends suggest NJ will need to build more housing and retrofit areas to attract and accommodate younger residents in the future.
This document discusses strategies for marketing to Hispanic youth in the US. It notes that Hispanic youth represent 20% of the US teen population and have $25 billion in annual purchasing power. Many are US-born and connected digitally. Effective strategies include using social media, targeting multiple platforms like TV and online, and testing emerging media. Case studies show leveraging their interests in social networking, music and their preferred devices. A new approach is needed that considers their language preferences, digital habits and unique insights.

Through an interactive immigrant simulation called Migrants of New York (MONY), high school students aimed to shed light on the challenges faced by immigrants in a new culture, including language barriers, discrimination, unfamiliarity, and the risks associated with education, jobs, healthcare, and housing. Participants experienced firsthand the difficulties immigrants face through games and activities that incorporated themes of privilege, inequality, and their influence on occupational and living conditions. The event hoped to impart lessons about the hardships common to the immigrant experience.
