PLANT MAINTENANCE
2. Maintenance of plain and rolling bearing
Vibration checks.
temperature measurement.
bearing clearances.
lubricant.
particle analysis.
alignment checks.
4. Maintenance of flexible coupling
What maintenance is required? I will answer this one with
these questions to consider.
How much grease do I put in? What kind? How often?
What is the useable life of the elastomer or rubber insert’s
compound?
What is the shelf life?
Do I need to torque or re-torque the bolts?
Can I reuse the bolts or must they be replaced?
a natural or synthetic polymer
having elastic properties
5. Maintenance of power transmission chain
Have a maintenance Schedule
Choose the oil and method of lubrication wisely.
Use Quality Heat Treated Chain.
Ensure the right tension and alignment.
Hardened Parts Prevent Wear
Ensure for shaft and sprocket alignment.
Remove any accumulation of dirt or foreign materials
6. Maintenance of over head cranes
Ensure there are no loose, broken, or damaged parts on
the hoist, trolley, bridge, runway, or electric systems.
With the pushbutton turned off—check that the buttons
are not sticking and operating smoothly
Ensure that the hook nut is tight and locked to hook.
Ensure the bridge and trolley motor brakes operate
properly.
Check that there is little or no hook drift when releasing
controls in the up or down position.
Check that the trolley and bridge are on-track and
functioning smoothly.
Ensure there are no loose items on the crane that could fall
7. Maintenance of chain hoist
Chain for excessive wear or stretch
Worn, cracked or distorted parts such as hook blocks,
hand chain guides, chain guide, stripper, loose end
connector, shafts, gears, bushings and bearings.
Inspect for wear on the tip of the driver, stops on
handwheel and pockets of the liftwheel and handwheel.
Loose or missing screws, nuts, pins or cotter pins. e.
Inspect brake components for worn, glazed or
contaminated brake disc and scoring of the brake hub
and brake plate. If the thickness of the friction washer
is less than 1/32 inch, it should be replaced.
stretched or broken brake spring.magnetic particle or
other suitable crackdetecting inspections should be
performed at least once a year.
