This document outlines the planning for a digital graphic narrative project adapting "The Three Little Pigs" story. It considers costs, available resources, target audience, quality factors, codes of practice, a production schedule, and health and safety considerations. The target audience is ages 4-8, costs will be low using existing computer resources, and the schedule allocates sessions to design each page over 10 weeks. Health risks like eye strain are addressed.

Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.

1. Digital Graphic Narrative Planning
Use this booklet to help structure your planning and collate your planning documents.
Considerations:
There are lots of things to consider in this project. Fill out each section in detail to show you have thought about each one. You
should imagine that this is a live project, so considerations like cost, quantity and codes of practice must be thought about in that
context rather than just as a college project.
Costs: There will be no extra costs for my project. This is because I am doing all my designing and creating
is being done on the computer, which already includes the resources I need.
Available resources: The available resources I have and am going to need are; a computer, a scanner,
Photoshop, Google for source images, any extra research I need and fonts that I can download, and paper for
designing my flat plan and writing my script to then scan those into my Development Pro Forma.
2. Quantity:
My book will be included in the mass market. This is because it is a remake of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ so it is
not an unusual book it is a classic.
I will have … books made, this is because I think it will sell well as it will be very popular with parents/children
who have read and enjoyed ‘The Three Little Pigs’.
Audience and Target Market:
My age demographic will be ages 4-8 for both genders. This is so the children are old enough to understand
and cope with the rabbits being ‘gobbled up’ by the fox. And so that they are young enough to find the story
interesting and exciting. It will be for both genders because there is no specific gender interest for this story as
in the three little pigs story none of the characters are labelled a specific gender or name. So it will be the
child’s interpretation of what gender they are, neither gender will prefer it to the other, both will equally enjoy it.
The class would be middle class, this is because for the price of the book these are the people that are most
likely to afford it and buy it as it is their sort of price range. Someone of a higher class may buy a more
expensive version or just more expensive/higher standard books in general.
Quality Factors:
In order to achieve the highest standard for my project I will ensure that I get feedback from my teacher each
time I change or improve something so that I have had a second opinion to spot any mistakes I have made or
to show me what not to do, as well as also making sure my work is consistent throughout and that I stick to
my design idea/plan, which means making sure I always have my flat plan and script with me in every
session. I will also make sure I manage my time well, I will do this by planning out what I am going to do each
session I am developing my project, so that I spend the same amount of time on each segment of my work
and so that I have enough time to get everything that I need done. I will also put my upmost effort into every
session, which includes keeping my attendance high and focussing on my work.
3. Codes of Practice:
Regulation:
My book does not fall under the definition of a toy, therefore will not have to be compliant with the new toy
safety Directive 2009/48/EC if sold on the European market.
Copyright:
There is no copyright in my book. This is because I have used all my own designs and made them up from
scratch. Also because ‘The Three Little Pigs’ story is so old it is out of copyright, and it has being written by so
many people that it cannot really be owned by anyone.
Ethical Issues:
There are no ethical issues or inequality acts in my book. This is because there are no elements of indecency;
it is all appropriate for children. Also because the main characters are all animals so there isn’t going to be
any cultural insensitivity or inequality coming from that.
4. Resources:
A successful project relies on good planning. Considering all the resources you will need for a project and then assessing which
you already have and which you need will help ensure you are ready to start your project.
If there is a resource you don’t currently have, then consider how you are going to get it before you go in to production.
Resource:
Do you have
it? What do you need to do to get it?
Computer Yes
Photoshop Yes
Paper Yes
Fonts Yes
Source images Yes
5. Google Yes
Production Schedule:
Delivering your project on time is vital. In order to do this, you need a solid plan of action. This will help you divide up your work in
to manageable chunks to be tackled one at a time. It will also allow you to plan which tasks need to be done in which order. It will
also allow you to track your progress each day. If you are falling behind, you will need to modify the way you work. If you work
faster than expected, you can clearly see what the next steps you need to take are.
Each session is a half day of college.
Session 1:
In this session I will design page 1. This is because I have now created the three rabbits, and this page
consists of the three rabbits walking down a road, so I will know what I’m doing and it should be fairly
straightforward.
Then I will create page 2, but first of all I will have to think about what I want the man carrying straw to
look like, and how I want to design him. Then I will make page 2.
6. Session 2:
In this session I will create page 3, in this I will again have to design another man carrying cardboard,
but he will be similar to the other man, ad I want to keep my designs basic and I want the styles of my
creations to all be the same and simple.
^
Session 3:
Then I will create page 4 which will be again similar to pages 2 and 3.
Session 4:
Creating page 5
7. Session 5:
Creating page 6
Session 6:
I will use two lessons in this session to create page 8. This is because I need to create another position
of the fox stood in the doorway. And I will need to create part of the inside of the house. Also an image
of the third rabbit running away.
Session 7:
8. Page 9, fox sat down on the sofa is already created, just need to design/add the sofa.
Session 8:
Designing page 10. This is just a picture of the man’s boots as if he has just walked in.
Session 9:
Designing front page. I want to do this last because once I have finished the whole book I will have all
the exact styles and images of each character. Which is important for the front cover because it will have
the main characters on it and I will then know exactly what I want them to look like on the front page and
I’ll see if I want to make any changes/improvements on the existing idea I have now.
9. Session 10:
Checking over all my pages to make sure the story and images flow.
Checking/spell checking all the text on each page. (text size, font and placement).
10. Health and safety:
Your health and safety and that of those around you is very important. Just like in industry, an accident could prevent you from
working. Whilst we don’t work in a highly dangerous environment, there are still risks. Some are short term, such as trips and
spillages whilst others, such as long term damage to eyesight or back problems, may affect you much later in life.
Consider the risks based on the activities you will be undertaking during the project. Explain how you could prevent them from
happening.
Ensure you reference appropriate pieces of legislation, design to protect people at work.
Health and Safety Issue How can you prevent it?
11. Risk of my eyes health because I’m spending a lot of time
on the computer it could strain them.
Having my 5 minutes breaks every hour and resting my
eyes by not then going on my phone.
Cables from the computer being left in a hazard place.
Ensure all the cables are out of the way of people to avoid
someone falling over them.
Chairs in walkway
Make sure all chairs are tucked away under tables so the
space around is free and safe.
