What type of music did you listen to?
5. Font and Colour Research
I have been researching some different font styles to
use in my project, I have decided to use the font on the
left for my subtitles, for example when I am introducing
the interviewees. The font is called ‘Market Deco’.
I have created my own animated title sequence based
on the font on the right, I used inspiration and put
arrows on my title as well as the mod target.
I have also chosen to use blue, white and red in my
animation video – these colours are renowned with the
mod subculture as they are the three colours used on
the mod target.
The mod target is used as a way to identify as a mod, this
logo would be seen on jackets, bikes, hats etc, the symbol
is now synonymous with modernism.
6. Overall Ideas
• After researching existing products, I am going to take inspiration from all of them, and include different
conventions shown in each one.
My main inspiration from Quadrophenia is going to be the music. This
film was produced by Pete Townshend, the lead singer of famous mod
band ‘The Who’. Pete released an album specifically for this film, and
the songs are now synonymous with the subculture. So I plan to use
one in my own video.
The documentary itself will be the most similar to the Don Letts
documentary, he uses interviews, voiceovers and related music in his
documentaries, all of which I plan to add in my own project as well.
The pebble and the boy has helped me get inspiration for my opening
animation, the animation reads ‘We are the mods’ in the same style as
‘The Pebble And The Boy’ on their poster.
