CSWS was founded in 2009 and received mixed reception locally in Provo, Utah. In an attempt to expand beyond Utah, they partnered with a company having viral YouTube success and offered to make a rap song promoting their product. This introduced them to the early YouTube ecosystem and content creators making money from ads. The videographer for that company became CSWS' roommate at Vidcon and they later collaborated on an extreme sports video combining Devin's visuals and CSWS' music, serving as a template for hundreds of future licensing deals. To date, CSWS has over 300 million YouTube plays earning over $250k in residual income since 2011 through licensing their music.
