Pitch for our music video
Brianna Lewis (P1-15)
Song Choice
The song we have chosen to film a music
video for is Ladykiller by the Saturdays. We
chose to do this song rather than any of the
others because we had more ideas on the
variety of different shot types we could use.
We also had thought of a strong narrative and
plan to do a short introduction before the song
begins to play. You can find more on how we

Location
For the introduction we are planning to film a
formal, dinner party scene. This footage could
be taken in any member of our groups dining
room.
For the footage of the girls lip-syncing, we
plan to film in front of a plain wall. From
this, we will make the shot look more visually
interesting through using a torch and a bounce
board to create shadows and golden lighting.
When filming the shots of us running and the
boys chasing us outside, we have thought
briefly about locations such as Mill Road
bridge and the centre of Cambridge. We will
research more into other locations and create
a location recce.
Performance style
Our music video will be a mix between a
performance and narrative based. The
‘singers’ in our music video will not necessarily
be performing to a live audience but will be
performing to the camera.
We have thought of a strong storyline to be
portrayed through an introduction and
continued throughout the duration of the

We plan for our artists to be represented as
young, energetic, fun-loving, rebellious.
Clothing, make-up and props
For the dinner party scene, the girls are going
to be in ‘dressy casual’ wear and the boys are
going to be in shirts. When filming the footage
of the girls lip-syncing they will be wearing
party wear such as a dress or skirt.
The girls hair will be straightened or curled
and their make-up will be bright and bold to
continue with the ‘party’ theme.
For props, we will need one of the boys to
wear a watch so that they can later look at it.
We will need wine glasses and bottles of wine
placed on the table to make the dinner scene
look sophisticated and dull for the girls. And
we will need make-up, to place around the
bathroom for a variety of shots.
Casting
For our music video we will
need:
• Two girls to lip-sync the song
and act in the dinner scene and
outside scenes.
•Two boys to act in the dinner
scene and outside scenes.
Instead of nominating one
camera person and lighting
technician. We plan to take it in
turns as there will be times when
some of us will be on camera
whilst others will be off. We will
also all get a chance to have a
go at each job.
Filming style, effects and
editing
We are planning on filming location by location rather
than following each shot on the storyboard and going
from the boys looking at their watch at the dinner table
to the girls running away outside as this would be very
time consuming.
When editing we will be placing the track and footage of
the girls lip-syncing in the correct position and then
adding lots of the other shots we had filmed over the
top.
We have been thinking of looking into how we may be
able to apply a split screen effect on our editing
software, Adobe Premiere Pro, to add a touch of humor
to our final product. In some cases we may choose to
adjust the brightness and contrast. We may also
decided to increase the speed of some clips to keep
with the pace of the music.

We will be focusing on the three points of
Goodwin’s criteria:
1. Music and visuals – the song is a pop
genre, upbeat and lively. In our music video
both boys and girls will be running about
giving the audience an energetic feel. The
girls may also create a dance routine.
2. Lyrics and visuals – part of the lyrics are
‘go, run, run, run’ and the visuals make this
literal because the girls will be running away
from the boys.
3. Selling the artist – by simply creating a music
video helps to sell the artist as it will be
advertised on TV channels. Our final music
video will focus on the two stars it by making
them the subject of each shot.
Overall
Overall, we believe that our final music video will be
able to engage the audience for the full duration time
because we have an interesting yet humorous narrative
and visuals to go along with the storyline. We are
planning to get a whole variety of different shot types
and add effects that will mean our final music video is
visually interesting for the audience.
