Pandemic simulator – PIP Deploy tool
• Under the PIP framework, PIPDeploy is a tool that
simulates vaccine deployment and the global
coordination required
• Simulation of a pandemic situation and multiple
tasks for each user (manufacturer, a donor who
legally owns an inventory, countries,
manufacturers, support agencies) to get pandemic
vaccine to the country
• Coordination of tasks include actions such as setting
up a production plan and updating it
(manufacturer), or a country responding to needs
estimates and regulatory documentation

First simulation of PIP Deploy
• Scope: request and deployment of pandemic influenza vaccines
to the in-country port of delivery
• "real time" duration spanning approximately 8 weeks, from
September to December 2017
• Participation from 5 countries, 3 manufacturers, 1 donor, 1
freight forwarder, 2 civil society technical assistance providers
and a 5-person exercise team
• Learning opportunities for participants and developers both
when it comes to further perfecting the simulation tool as well as
in deployment pandemic preparedness
• Simulation and gaming approaches like PIP Deploy could help
the preparedness training process by bringing together several
stakeholders and providing real-time feedback
