Original article from the Flevy business blog can be found here:
http://flevy.com/blog/are-women-good-for-business/
Do women or men make better leaders?
Recently, McKinsey republished an article from 1976 entitled ā Sex bias ā still in business ā with the following 2014 introduction:
Despite much talk of equal opportunity for women, discrimination persists in business. This 1976 McKinsey Quarterly article, part of a series celebrating our 50th anniversary, shows how companies should correct disparities that are illegal, immoral, and bad for business.
Curious as to how a 38 year old article could offer fresh and relevant insights into a subject close to my heart, I sat down with keen anticipation to read it. My enthusiasm was quickly dispelled by tedium and increasing frustration. The article was too predictable. It gave a prescription of organisational measures to create greater opportunities for women, but the only reason it gave for doing so was āunfairnessā and the need to conform with legislation. I struggled to understand why McKinsey were bothering to republish it in 2014 ā it certainly did not provide thought leadership..
Whilst the right of women to equal opportunities is undeniable there are even more positive and compelling reasons to advance their role in business. Ask yourself whether āthe fairer sexā or āthe testosterone-fuelled sexā are likely to fare better on the following, research-validated characteristics of Top 1% companies:
ā¢ Decisions, which can occasionally be bold and radical, are made on the basis of quiet, calm insight and understanding, not bravado.
ā¢ There is an holistic culture with a long-term, nurturing perspective and a recognition of the constant need to improve and to learn, personally and collectively.
ā¢ Staff regard the company as if it was their family and describe it with affection as an open, honest and supportive environment in which standards are high, but everyoneās contribution is valued.

Whore 1: You will suffer dearly for your sinsRichard Porter

He pushed her against the wall of the dilapidated, deserted building that was destined to be razed for another renewal zone in New York City at the beginning of the 20th century. The new electric streetlights softly lit up her face. She was young thin and frightened. Her body was so small that from a distance, she looked like she might be alittle child, but upon closer inspection, the curves of her tiny frame convinced him that she might be 15 or 18.
Seven mistakes men make in sex, know it all and enjoy your life.Babu Appat

Life is to be enjoyed in its full. Sex is never a taboo if used in it right manner. Knowing the women and how they respond to each stimuli will help you enjoy a more fuller intercourse and relation. It enhances happy living and ensures social succes. Life altogether becomes wonderful if you enjoy it in its right ways.
Lisa Wade - "Female Genital Mutilation" in the American Imaginationlisawadephd
Ā
There is one thing that most Americans know about female genital mutilationā¦ that it is very, very bad. In this talk I take apart the logic by which we demonize female genital mutilation. I do so not to question whether we should oppose all or some of these practices, but in order to explore how we decide what bodily alterations count as good, bad, or neutral. I ask two questions: (1) How do Americans articulate their opposition to the practice? And (2) What are the consequences of opposing it on those bases and not others? I show that the dominant framing of "female genital mutilation" in the U.S. aims our condemnation very carefully at the practices of others, ensuring that American genital cutting practices stay out of range of our outrage. I conclude by asking us to use our feelings about "mutilation" to think again about male circumcision, surgery on children with ambiguous genitalia, sex reassignment surgery, and cosmetic surgery.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
Ā
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasnāt one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
