Liz Walker's legal career started traditionally but she became interested in Native American issues after transferring to California with Mobil Oil. She took on pro bono cases involving Native American rights and eventually decided to focus her practice on Native American law and policy. Today she represents several Virginia Indian tribes seeking federal recognition and has helped them obtain rights established in centuries-old treaties. She takes pride in telling the tribes' stories and helping them emerge from the shadows of colonial history.
