It suggests developing stories that explain or expand upon what is happening in the photos, whether through realistic or fantastical lenses, and from the perspectives of different characters through conversations, news reports, and inner thoughts. The goal is to spark the imagination without feeling confined to reality.

1. What’s happened that’s caused these two very
different reactions?

2. Take it at face value.
Or add a fantasy twist. Only the two of them can understand each other? She’s
a professional donkey whisperer? Boyfriend and girlfriend who’ve been cursed?
Aliens who didn’t quite get their disguises right?

3. What conversation do you overhear around this
event? Is the child the only one talking? Or are the
bears contributing?

4. You see this shooting across the sky at twilight. Some questions to think about
if you need a jump start:
What is it? What has caused it? What will happen? Or who is it?
Where are they going and why? Are they chasing something or being chased?
Are they off to the rescue or off to some big event?

5. Write a news report for this. Newspaper. TV. Internet news. Tabloid. Just
because it’s a real photo, don’t feel compelled to tie yourself to reality! :-)

6. What are these guys thinking? Are they friends? Are
they enemies?
