This document discusses trees and phylogeny, including: 1. Various software for visualizing and analyzing phylogenetic trees such as TreeView, PHYLIP, NJPLOT, MacClade, and PAUP. 2. Challenges with phylogeny that do not exist with maps, as phylogeny lacks predictable navigation and the concept of absolute location. 3. Possible representations of additional dimensions on phylogenetic trees, such as time, genes/copies, or latitude and longitude. This could make trees more useful and informative.
