1. First, I had to come up with an idea of how to convey the concept of fractions by
using Photoshop. The only thing I could come up with was to slice a pizza or a pie
or a cookie into separate parts so that students could get an idea of what
different fractions looked like.
I found a picture on Google images of a pie that wasn’t too pixilated and wasn’t
too gigantic. Then, I used the lasso tool to draw around separate pieces and cut
out ½, ¼, 1/8, and two 1/16. After I cut out each one, I copied it and pasted it into
a new window/page. This created a new layer on the page each time. I then
arranged them so that the pieces looked like they formed a whole pie, that way
the students could see what part of a whole each fraction is. Then, I added the
text on top by clicking the text button and clicking on each slice of pie. I then
typed in the appropriate fraction on the appropriate slice. Each time I typed new
text, it added a new layer to the picture, so I could click on each layer at the side
to manipulate it individually. When I was finished, I just saved it to my computer
and uploaded it to Livetext.
