Situated in the state of Uttarakhand, ‘The Land of the Gods,’ is the Hindu pilgrimage circuit that is popularly known as Char Dham. Known to be the holiest and the most important of all Hindu pilgrimages, the Char Dham - literally meaning the ‘four pilgrimages’ - are tucked in the Himalayan terrain of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. So significant is this pilgrimage that a visit to these holy sites is said to wash off all sins and promises liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth (Moksha). The Char Dham yatra begins at Yamunotri, which is at a lower altitude than the rest, proceeds to Gangotri, Kedarnath and finally concludes at Badrinath in a Parikrama or circumambulation of holy places in clockwise fashion. Though arduous, this peaceful and spiritual yatra encompasses exquisite landscapes of pristine valleys, roaring waterfalls and enigmatic forests, and even affords incredible views of the snow laden peaks in the distance.

In the talk I argue that we are limiting our view of what this next industrial/digital age can offer because of how we read, measure and through that perceive the world (how we cherry pick data).
