David Hockney is an English artist born in 1937 who works in painting, printmaking, photography, and stage design. He was part of the pop art movement in the 1960s and is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. Hockney studied at Bradford College and the Royal College of Art. He is known for his paintings of swimming pools in Los Angeles and portraits of friends, as well as stage designs for theaters.
