PHILIPPINE EDUCATION
DURING JAPANESE
OCCUPATION
INTRODUCTION
The Philippines, a former colony of the United States, was invaded
by Japan in December 1941 and remained under its occupation
until February 1945. During this period, the Japanese authorities
implemented various changes in the educational system of the
country, aiming to promote their political and cultural agenda.
This report will examine the objectives, policies,
and outcomes of the Japanese education
program in the Philippines, focusing on the
elementary and high school levels. It will also
analyze the challenges and responses of the
Filipino people to the Japanese-imposed
curriculum and instruction.
