5. The Petralona cave, was discovered in 1959. It had been accidentally located by Philippos Chatzaridis. It became internationally known when the skull of Archanthropus was found by another villager, Christos Sariannidis.

10. Petralona Cave is roughly 2 kilometres long. The temperature inside the cave remains constant at about 17 (+1) degrees centigrade all year round
