- 26. Summary and Reflections Precession of the Equinox The Lakota regard the He Sapa as hollow- ed grounds and revere it because it is the Wakinyan spiritual center of the Lakota world. This is where ancestors of the Lakota emerged from Wasun Wiconiye to populate the land, this is where the heavens reflect their image on Wakinyan special landforms that compelled the Lakota to Tacante perform ceremonies to maintain the spiritual (heart) connection to the powers above so that the people may live and this is where the Lakota can find peace, tranquility and sanct-uary.
