There's a VERY interesting, fascinating site on the web - http://www.zetatalk.com
Its source is rather controversial (some may argue), but its CONTENT is amazing.
Have you heard about Ice Ages, frozen mammoth's and End of the World predictions? Then throw away all your reference "scientific" books - it is all complete nonsense.
ZetaTalk presents the most comprehensive theory of Geological and recent Climate change I've evere came on.
I prepared a presentation that was presented in English discussion club in my native town Drohobycz (Ukraine) and you can download it HERE.

The document discusses theories about the Mayan calendar's prediction of major changes or an "end of the world" scenario in 2012. It mentions that the Mayans believe the calendar marks the end of a cycle and the beginning of a "New Age" or "Golden Age" for humanity, involving evolutionary changes driven by solar/galactic alignments. However, it also presents alternative theories that Planet X/Nibiru will enter our solar system in 2012 and cause catastrophic events like volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and the death of 2/3 of the world's population. It acknowledges there is no consensus on what will actually happen in 2012.
This chapter discusses glaciers and ice ages. It describes how glaciers form from compacted snow and move via gravity-driven flow. There are two main types of glaciers: mountain glaciers which form in mountainous areas and flow downhill, and continental glaciers which are large ice sheets that cover large land areas. Glaciers can advance or retreat depending on the balance between snow accumulation and melting. Glaciers erode land and transport sediment, leaving behind landforms like moraines and eskers when they melt. Periodic ice ages over Earth's history are caused by changes in factors like the Earth's orbit and atmospheric greenhouse gas levels.
1) Earthquakes are caused by the sudden movement and fracturing of rock along faults within the Earth's crust due to stresses from plate tectonics.
2) The largest recorded earthquake was a 9.5 magnitude quake in Chile in 1960 that caused tsunamis in Hawaii, Japan, and the Philippines but resulted in relatively few deaths due to its remote location.
3) Some of the most destructive earthquakes have been of lower magnitudes when located in populated areas with poor construction, such as the 1964 Alaskan earthquake of 9.2 magnitude that caused significant damage and loss of life.
The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells is a science fiction novel that describes an alien invasion of Earth by Martians. The novel begins by establishing that Mars is becoming uninhabitable as it cools, so the Martians have developed advanced technology that allows them to wage war on more habitable Earth. The first two chapters describe the arrival of Martian cylinders on Horsell Common in England, from which emerge tripod-shaped war machines that begin killing and destroying the area with a heat-ray.
The document provides an excerpt from H.G. Wells' 1898 science fiction novel The War of the Worlds. It describes the arrival on Earth of cylinders from Mars containing Martians. An astronomer named Ogilvy discovers one of the cylinders that has landed on a heath between towns in England. Upon investigation, he finds the cylinder is hot and emits noises from within. Pieces of the outer coating start falling off, revealing the cylinder is hollow and possibly containing Martians within.
The document provides an excerpt from H.G. Wells' 1898 science fiction novel The War of the Worlds. It describes the arrival on Earth of a cylinder-shaped spacecraft from Mars, which lands on a heath in Surrey, England. A local astronomer named Ogilvy discovers the hot, dun-colored metallic cylinder partially buried in a crater caused by its impact. As its surface cools, flakes of ash begin falling from the end of the cylinder, hinting that it may be hollow and potentially contain Martian occupants within. The excerpt sets up the impending first contact between humans and the invading Martians.
- Intelligent life on Mars was watching Earth closely and had developed technologies far beyond what humans had. They saw Earth as a resource to exploit as their own planet was dying.
- The Martians began launching missiles at Earth, propelling themselves through space. The first appeared as an eruption of flames on Mars and was spotted by astronomers. It took over 24 hours to reach Earth.
- The narrator stays up late with an astronomer friend observing Mars through a telescope. They see another eruption of flames, indicating another missile had been launched at Earth. The narrator reflects on the immense distance between Mars and Earth and has no idea of the threat approaching.

This document is the introduction to H.G. Wells' science fiction novel "The War of the Worlds". It provides background information on the planet Mars and establishes the premise that intelligent life has developed on Mars that is monitoring Earth. Mars is becoming inhospitable as it grows cold, and the Martians see Earth as a potential target to escape their dying planet and wage war to take resources. The passage sets up the arrival of the Martians on Earth in fighting machines to begin their invasion.
The document discusses plate tectonics and how it shapes Earth. Plate tectonics involves large plates in Earth's lithosphere that slowly move over time. When plates meet, they form boundaries which can result in volcanoes and earthquakes. Convection currents in the mantle drive the plate movements. Plates diverge at mid-ocean ridges, where new crust is formed, and converge in some places, causing volcanoes or mountains to form.
This document provides information about plate tectonics through 5 sections:
1) It defines plate tectonics and provides diagrams of Earth's layers.
2) It describes where plate tectonics is occurring globally and locally through examples.
3) It discusses how plate tectonics has affected life on Earth through changing environments and fossil evidence.
4) It notes there are still issues and debates around fully understanding the mechanisms driving plate tectonics and predicting impacts.
5) It argues more research across scientific fields is needed to better comprehend plate tectonics and issues like its relationship to volcanism and climate change.
The document discusses several theories about how the world could potentially end in 2012, including the Mayan calendar prophecy of the world ending as their long count calendar cycles to a new era on December 21, 2012. However, experts say this is a misinterpretation and the Mayans likely saw it as a celebration. Other theories addressed include the potential for catastrophic events caused by planets like Nibiru colliding with Earth, supervolcanic eruptions, polar shifts, and solar storms, but scientists have found no evidence to support any of these doomsday scenarios actually occurring in 2012. The document concludes by reassuring that NASA has disproven many of the theories and sees no significant threats to life on Earth from astronomical or
This document provides an introduction and overview of the book "The Saturn Myth" by David N. Talbott. It discusses how Talbott was intrigued by Velikovsky's claim that Saturn was once the pre-eminent planetary god in ancient mythology. Talbott then set out to examine Saturn's mythical character in more detail. The summary argues that ancient sources describe Saturn as the "Great God" or "Universal Monarch" that visually dominated the ancient heavens. Through detailed analysis of symbols and imagery, Talbott contends that early civilization sought to recreate or commemorate Saturn's organization of its "celestial kingdom," and that Saturn's dramatic appearance in the sky at that time inspired humanity's leap into civilization.

- Mars is considered the most suitable planet for humans to live on besides Earth, which has prompted numerous NASA space exploration missions to Mars to determine if life could exist there.
- Recent discoveries like signs of a lake on Mars has encouraged NASA to further investigate the possibility of life on the Red Planet.
- The article discusses the possibility of life on Mars and ongoing efforts by NASA to explore Mars and search for evidence of past or present life.
The document discusses potential threats to humanity in 2036, including the asteroid Apophis which could cause major damage if it hits Earth. It also discusses various theories and predictions for the end of the world in 2012 from the Mayan calendar and I Ching patterns, as well as evidence we are overdue for a mass extinction. The document warns that if the Yellowstone caldera erupts it could cause a nuclear winter. It encourages readers to enjoy life and not obsess over these topics.
The document provides information about plate tectonics, including tectonic events, hazards, and disasters. It discusses different types of earthquake and volcanic hazards such as ground shaking, lava flows, pyroclastic flows, and tsunamis. It also covers factors that influence people's perceptions of natural hazards, including magnitude, frequency, duration, and speed of onset. Areas that experience frequent, high magnitude events over a large area are more alert to hazards, while rare, moderate events are more easily forgotten. Locations are more vulnerable if the population, infrastructure, and economy are exposed and sensitive to hazards. Where natural hazards coincide with high vulnerability, disasters are more likely to occur.
Ogilvy, an astronomer, witnesses strange flashes of light coming from Mars. He invites the narrator to observe Mars with him but dismisses the idea that Mars could signal intelligent life. When a meteorite crashes near Ogilvy's town, he discovers it is actually a giant metal cylinder. Inside are alien beings trying to escape. As more cylinders crash to Earth, it becomes clear that Mars is launching an invasion of Earth. Panic and devastation ensue as the Martians unleash powerful weapons against humanity.
1) The Earth formed around 4.5 billion years ago from a disk of dust and gas surrounding the young Sun. Over millions of years, the planet developed a layered core and crust as heavier elements sank to the center.
2) Early microbes evolved and began producing oxygen through photosynthesis, transforming the atmosphere. The rise of oxygen allowed more complex life like fish and eventually amphibians, dinosaurs, and primates to emerge.
3) The first humans evolved around 2 million years ago, living as hunter-gatherers. Control of fire was a major development that allowed expansion of human activity. Settlement and agriculture began around 10,000 years ago, leading to growth of early civilizations along rivers.
The document discusses the Mayan prophecy that the year 2012 would mark a major transition or end of the current world age. It notes that the Mayan calendar is based on a 26,000 year cycle divided into periods of around 5,125 years each. The Mayans believed the end of the current cycle in 2012 could bring catastrophes to Earth from increased solar activity and a weakening of Earth's magnetic field. NASA research confirms the magnetic field is weakening and a solar flare in 2012 could cause widespread blackouts and damage communications and power grids.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
