Head Coach Essay
Calaveras Enterprise sports editor Guy Dossi spoke with Calaveras new junior varsity head
coach Doug Clark. They spoke of the difference from going from a varsity assistant coach to a
head JV coach, the changes Clark will have to make on game day, and what he misses about
coaching varsity.
GD: Well Doug, I looked at the schedule earlier during the summer and I saw you were listed at
JV head coach and it kind of took me by surprise. You were the varsity defensive coordinator for
such a long time, what made you want to make the switch?
DC: I m just thinking down the road. I know that Weatherby isn t going to be coaching forever. And
with him here, I m not going to get any head coaching opportunity experience, unless I went down
to JV. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good varsity program really depends on a strong JV program. Can you talk about the importance
of building a strong foundation on the lower level, so that the varsity squad continues to get
players who are ready to compete year after year.
DC: (Jason) Weatherby has done a wonderful job and I just hope to go down to the JV level and
keep that going. It boils down even to the Pop Warner level. That s something that as a JV coach, I
want to incorporate even more. More communication and more networking with the Pop Warner
team. Because the Pop Warner feeds the JV. The JV feeds the varsity. The more that we are on
sync, the better the program is going to be overall.
GD: You were associated with the varsity team for such a long time, so it must be difficult not
coaching with guys you consider your friends and having them around all the time.
DC: It s very weird. It s different. You see them on the field before we separate and I talk to them
afterwards and there are a lot of phone calls going back and forth. But yeah, that s one of the
hardest parts about going down. I ve been coaching with those guys for so long. We know each
other s moves. We can read each other s minds and we are always on the same page. That s now
what I m trying to get accomplished down below.
GD: Now that you are coaching junior varsity, that changes the way your Friday s unfold. Before,
you could relax during the JV game, maybe eat a tri tip sandwich, shoot the breeze with your

How Does Romeo Change Throughout The Tempest
At the end of William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, the main protagonist is faced with the subject
of whether or not he can return to his dukedom of Milan a good leader. In the beginning, Prospero
s brother, Antonio, dethrones Prospero as he lost sight of the limit of the power he possessed.
Becoming obsessed and primarily focused on his studies of magic, Prosperous gave the
management of his domain to Antonio in order to keep the nation running. Antonio soon took on a
larger role in the government, breaking the screen between a proxy to Prosperoand the true duke to
Milan. Overthrown, Prospero was cast away to a desert island where he would spend the next ten
years awaiting his return to Milan. While on the island Prosperous has a change of... Show more

In Act V Scene 2, Prospero finally confronts all of the visitors of the island, from the King of Naples
to the boatswain and his crewmates. The two most important interactions that outline his change in
character are the ones between his brother Antonio, and the King of Naples, Alonso. Prospero
takes the initiative and forgives his brother, twice. He confronts Antonio, I do forgive thee,
/ Unnatural though thou art (V.i.88 89) and, I do forgive / Thy rankest fault, all of them (V.i.151
152). Lines like these show an overview of Prospero s new character at the end of the play. The first
of change is admitting the wrongs and moving on from the past, both of which Prospero does.
Prospero s opinions about Alonso is also decidedly different from the beginning of the play.
When talking to Miranda, Prospero refers to the Kind as being an enemy (I.ii.145) as well as
Antonio composing A treacherous army (I.ii.152) of both the forces of Milan and Naples. It is
clear that Prospero initially had strong feelings against the Naples family tree and kingdom.
However, alongside the marriage of Ferdinand, the prince of Naples, and Prospero s own
daughter, relations between the two seem to have bettered by the end. Prospero only treats Alonso
with respect saying, I embrace thy body (V.i.120) and, Let me embrace thine age, whose honor
cannot / Be measured or confined (V.i.135 136). Prospero already begins to deal with the politics
of Milan has he ensures that the relationship between the two countries is strong. These attempts
show that Prosper is more disposed to his people and no longer just

The Beginnings Of Cinema United States
2 THE BEGINNINGS OF CINEMA UNITED STATES
The first public screening of a film in the United States took place in 1896 in New York. The
projector was developed by inventor Thomas Alva Edison, whose company was also the producer
of the short films. Fatherhood American fiction cinema is often attributed to Edwin S. Porter, who
in 1903 used an innovative technique mount 8 minute film Assault and robbery of a train by which
different fragments from different shots of the same film was together to form a narrative whole.
This work became film in a very popular art form, and led to nationwide screening rooms appear
small, so called nickelodeones.
David Wark Griffith, a disciple of Porter, developed the principles of this using panoramic and
close up shots, as well as parallel assemblies as a means of expression to maintain dramatic tension,
which became the most important silent film pioneer States United. With his works The Birth of a
Nation (1915) and Intolerance (1916) began the tradition of historical cinema in his country.

THE BIRTH OF HOLLYWOOD
Between 1915 and 1920, the film industry gradually shifted from the east coast to Hollywood,
where new studies emerged. Film production became an important economic sector and imposed
his rule beyond the country s borders. Westerns, detective films, adventure, science fiction and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Academic Ranking
The Academic ranking is one of the priorities in the society including the students, University,
Higher education etc. However, there are some of the advantages and disadvantages using
academic ranking. More importantly, it is still useful because using this can be our basis in
applying college admission and the course we would like to take.
Since URAP is an academic performance based ranking, publication constitutes the basis of the
ranking methodology. All the bio metric data used in the URAP ranking were gathered from the
Incites database of private analytic (Corap, 2016). At any rate, all the academic ranking must have
done the proper process for the judges to know that they are worthy of the ranking they are in.
Moreover, the students who passed the criteria of being an honor student, a politician and so on are
the one who followed the process properly.
Ranking Methodologies: Selection of Universities, Ranking criteria, and weights; a quality of
education, quality of faculty, research output, a size of the institution (Cheng and Liu, 2005).
Furthermore, when someone wants to include himself/herself be an honor student there are
methods to be followed. On the contrary, there is a difference between methods from criteria.

For most institutions, it would be far better to focus on planning strategy that strengthens an
institution s competitive position on a substantive basis: differentiation based on educational
approach, student experience, innovative teaching, and the like. In short, for most, trying to game
the ranking numbers is a fool s errand (Art Science Group, 2013). Some western schools are
focusing on how they can make their student be more competitive than collecting data to make
based on a quality of the academic performance of a

Visualizing Nutrition
Before I was able to describe the similarities and differences of the diets, I first needed to figure
out what exactly they were. The DASH eating plan as intentions to lower hypertension, USDA
food patterns were created for citizens to follow their dietary guidelines, and the Mediterranean diet
is not a diet, if is a lifestyle (Wiley, Visualizing Nutrition) that one will normally continue with.
Some similarities between the diets are that they all want you to intake the correct amount of food,
no more no less, and they all focus on very similar types of food. While reading our Visualizing
nutrition book, I learned that all of these eatingstyles they are all very nutrient dense styles of eating,
including fish, other seafoods and proteins,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these common claims say promise of fast weight loss quantities and imitations,
promotes specific food combinations, and no need to be physically active. (WordsonWellness).
You never want to all of the sudden and dramatically lose weight, it is far better to gradually lose
weight. FAD diets that avoid eating multiple food groups take away the vitamins that the human
body needs to survive and be healthy. FAD diets that tell you to eat at certain times are also
incorrect, you should eat when you feel hungry but only eat until you are satisfied and not full.
Lastly, diets that say you do not need any physical activity may be shedding weight off of your
body, but you are not gaining muscle and becoming stronger, in the long term you may even feel
weaker. Many people who become apart of the FAD diet community think that their health will
improve, in some cases this is inaccurate. Based on what I have learned in past nutrition classes
and my own personal experience they can actually be very bad for your health, not just the inside
of your body, but the outside too. You may notice muscle and even hair loss. I had a friend who
started losing her hair when starting a very common FAD diet. You will also notice deficiencies in
your nutrition especially if you cut out carbs because they are the main source of our energy.

Analysis Of Combahee River Collective
Combahee River Collective in their article Combahee River Collective Statement examines the
relationship between racism, heterosexism, economics, and racism. The group of black feminists,
Combahee River Collective, strived to firmly and clearly establish their position when it came to
politics of feminism, and therefore separated from the male counterparts and white women
(Thomas). In the statement, the activists dwell on four major topics, including the dawn of modern
Black feminism, the domain of politics, short history and the issues and practices of the group.
This paper gives a summary of Combahee River Collective Statement and reviews some of its key
points.

The group embraced solidarity with such unions provided that their needs not just as socialists but
the Black feminists were met.
The Combahee River Collective also stresses on the relationship with their subjugation and how it
molded their identities. It is through the use of the identity politics, especially their atypical
experience, that they pursued the immediate freedom for the Black women. Even though the group
called for the liberation of the women of color, the activists did not assume an exclusive standpoint,
but instead a humble ground for their group. The collective did not want pedestals, Queenwood and
lagging ten steps behind but rather to be accepted as human, just sensibly as humans ( The
Combahee River Collective ). The group s primary focus was on the liberation of the Black women,
something they expressed in the statement black women are inherently valuable.
The group voiced its concerns in a positive, yet proud, way. It celebrated one another s personal
experiences in a non elitist manner. The members of the group endeavored to show people around
the world that their identity considerations and associations do not score their experience of
repression. They emphasized that the oppression they underwent is no more than an experience or
even more significant compared to the one of any sideline

Reflection About Hunger
You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am, famished, empty, and with every little
feature of my bones exposed and the rumbling of my stomach near you. I will tell you. Hear me
out. This is not a joke, nor a pleasant position to be in. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to
yourself, Oh yes, I ve been hungry before. I ve missed breakfast. Then, my stomach starts to growl,
big deal. No, you have it wrong. Put yourself in my shoes where I desire just a morsel of foodin the
dumpster in the alley.
Hunger is being thankful for the hamburger meal someone cheerfully gave to you. With my
stomach aching for a meal, an individual dressed in modesty spots me out from the busy crowd.
My clothes were covered in muck from laying on the grease smudged concrete from that night;
however, that individual approaches me with charm and politely asked how was my day. I told
them I was doing fine, but a meal right now would be great. The individual hands me their lunch
they were going to have for work and wishes me a great day. I looked at the bag like a child being
loose in a candy store. With glee, I opened the McDonald s bag and pulled out a Big Mac meal. I
consume each bite viciously, leaving no crumbs like it was my last time eating. I cried with
gladness because I hope I can thank that person again one day. It was my first meal since three
days ago. Hunger is dumpster diving in the alley behind a restaurant. It was a daily routine for me,
and I must quickly get it before

Chronic Bronchitis Case Study
1.What clinical findings correlate with M.K. s chronic bronchitis? What type of treatment and
recommendations would be appropriate for M.K. s chronic bronchitis? Prior to discussing MK s
clinical findings and its correlations with chronic bronchitis, we must first have an understanding
of what this disease involves. Chronic bronchitis is defined as a chronic obstructive pulmonary
disorder (COPD) and is identified by a hypersecretion of bronchial mucus and chronic or recurrent
productive cough of more than three months and occurring each year for two or more successive
years in a patient (Copstead Banasik, 2013). Furthermore, if you break down the words Chronic
Bronchitis the word Chronic stands for a condition lasting over a long period... Show more content

Putting the words back together, chronic bronchitis is the chronic inflammation and swelling of the
bronchial mucosa, which can lead to scarring and a variety of other clinical manifestations. This is
where we can correlate the clinical findings from MK s case study to the chronic bronchitis. Here
we find clinical manifestations such as chronic coughing with more severe fits in the morning with
sputum, excessive peripheral edema, light headedness, distended neck veins, and increased night
urination. The most predominant symptom in chronic bronchitis is the chronic cough, which can
last over the course of three months successively for at least two years. This is a result of
inflammation of the bronchial mucosa which leads to hypertrophy and causes scarring to occur.
The hypertrophy then cause the over production of mucus which results in the chronic coughing as
the body tries to get rid of the excess mucus. MK states that she has been smoking for the past 22
years which points to her experiencing smokers cough with more severe fits in the morning. This is
explained due to M.K. laying down overnight that can cause the mucus to build up and can

The Nature Of Justice In The Oresteia By Aeschylus
The Oresteia is a book of plays written by Aeschylus that centers around the myth of the polis. In
each story, the theme of the polis is different. They each want to get revenge or avenge someone
that did wrong to someone that they love or loved. The in this story the polis poses questions as
what is the nature of justice and what are the methods of establishing and maintaining justice on
earth. This story uses the legend of the family Atreus and how he took revenge on his brother,
Thyestes, for seducing his wife. Atreus killed two of Thyestes sons and fed them to him to avenge
the seducing of his wife. This started the chain of events that led to the family thinking that an eye
for an eye is the only way to settle things. It first started off with Agamemnons father Atreus and
his brother Thyestes who is the father of Aegisthus. During those times, they were contended for
the throne of Argos, but during this time Thyestes seduced his brother s wife and was driven out
of Argos. When he came back Atreus had established himself as the sole king. Thyestes begged
his brother for forgiveness and Atreus pretended to forgive him. Atreus was still upset that his
brother seduced his wife and was plotted to avenge that so he killed Thyestes two younger sons,
cooked them, and served them to Thyestes to eat. When Thyestes found out he was disgusted and
horrified so he took only son that he had left and fled from Argos. This is what started the polis in
this story of The Oresteia. To

1.Corporate malfeasance is defined as deceptive and/or fraudulent activities carried out by
corporate officers. Usually the CEO is held responsible for corporate problems, but a firm s board
is essential to preventing malfeasance and ensuring that management acts with integrity. I would
describe some of Messier s actions as corporate malfeasance. For example, Messier repurchased a
significant amount of VivendiUniversal s stock (i.e., 6.4 billion Euros from 2001 2002) to fund
employee stock optiongrants. Because Messier was so focused on the firm s stock, his focus was
not on the firm s financial stability nor did he make the best use of excess cash. Further, the

Messier was dedicated to Americanizing the firm, taking away from its French heritage. When
Messier decided to sell off Vivendi Environment, the parent company s most profitable business,
to finance a deal with USA Networks he continued to transform the firm into a media first
business neglecting the firm s water supply roots. Now the parent company was left with debt
and many overvalued assets. Vivendi Universal would eventually have to write down significant
amounts due to excessive goodwill estimates from acquisitions. Messier was stubborn. He
declared that these loses were not reflective of the company s sound operations and tried to
blame Lescure, the decision maker for Canal Plus, for the parent company s business failure,
deeming Canal Plus as a tumor for Vivendi Universal. All in all, Messier was adamant in keeping
to the story that his firm was in good financial position, and, because he had the support of board
members (who he had initially appointed), others believed this story as well. His persistence in
growing the business fogged his perception of reality he was managing a failing business. It is
clear that Messier did a poor job as CEO.
3.Messier was a victim of bad timing, however, his failure as a CEO should not only be attributed
to poor timing. Yes, the dot.com bubble burst during his tenure, which may have caused him to over
value some acquired firms. Other issues

The Value Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By Robert Hayden
Love, in any form, is such that people find ways of celebrating it. The American poet Robert
Hayden honors this compelling emotion in the poem Those Winter Sundays. Those Winter
Sundays is a fourteen line literary work that gives a description of an event from the speaker s
past. Although the poem is a short description of an event past, much information can be read
between the lines of few words. Freelance writer Jeannine Johnson characterizes Hayden s work to
honor the value of loves simple, domestic services in our lives (Johnson). Moreover, the value of
love in Those Winter Sundays is underlined by the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic sensory
images to emphasize the change in the speaker s perspective of the events.... Show more content on

Other than the title, the visual sensory images of the body of the poem also support the contrast
and change in the speaker s perspective. The first stanza implies the eagerness of the father to
carry out simple chores for his family as he does not fail to accomplish on Sundays the same
task he tirelessly does on every other day of the week...On every day, Monday through Saturday,
and even on Sundays too (Johnson, par. 1). The first line may denote the father s care, however,
the nonchalance on the part of the speaker in Sundays too my father got up early (Hayden 1) is
also apparent. It could be that the line is a mere statement of a simple recollection, but is also
indicative of how the speaker trivializes the father s early morning efforts. If in the first line the
speaker offhandedly remarks about the early morning efforts of the father, the speaker, in the
following lines, shows more concern in sharing minute details about the condition in which the
father carried out his morning tasks. In fact, the nonchalance in the first line suddenly changes as
said line contributes to the intensity of the image of and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold,
/ then with cracked hands that ached/ from labor in the weekday weather made (Hayden 3 4). From
the uninteresting normalness of the routine, the image changes to one of selflessness as with the

The Major Tenets Of CumminsModel Of Second Language...
In the book Why Tesol?, it states that the major tenets of Cummins model of second language
acquisition is the framework that focuses on the distinction between social language and academic
language. Cummins suggests that academic language takes longer to acquire and social language is
easier because it is in the here and now . Cummins Quadrant Model consists of 4 quadrants:
Quadrant 1 Social language; Quadrant 2 Target language; Quadrant 3 Target language; Quadrant 4
Academic language. (p. 152). Although, there are many models of second language acquisition, I
felt that Cummin s model was a great representative of where Carlos second languageacquisition
has fallen behind. When beginning remediation with Carlos my first priority is to provide him with
a solid foundation of academic vocabulary that will assist him throughout his learningexperience.
This process is beneficial when teaching content area. In order for Carlos to succeed in the

beginning each lesson I would have Carlos share his knowledge of the vocabulary words and
academic language that is beneficial to the lesson. This will provide insight to see which areas I
need to review and which areas he has a strong foundation in. Next, I would provide Carlos with
various opportunities to obtain the vocabulary needed in each content area. To develop his

The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality
was often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality
was deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This
idea was heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gaywas one of the
worst things an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after
the conflict at the Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn
was the place where gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as
many of them ran away or were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a
place of freedom, it was also a place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make
sure that alcohol was not being served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it
illegal to serve homosexuals. Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the
transformation of American society to become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise
between the nation and the LGBTcommunity was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to
spread as the conflict was able to bring a wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role
models to feel inspired to stand up.
Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American
Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and
England, but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries
on both sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often
come with rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example,
The Treaty of Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist,
kicking the French off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were
subject to the confinements that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach
that it had would have ultimately been cut short. The Gay Liberation Front is a prime example

Voice Deviations
1.List 3 reasons that voice deviations tend to be of less concern within the general population
than other communication problems such as stuttering and articulation disorders? (1.5 points)
There are many reason why voice deviations tend to be of less concern within the general
population than other communication problem. The first reason is because everyone has
different characteristics of what a normal voice is. The second reason is because when
individuals has a unique voice, it difficult to decide if it is their voice or a voice disorder. The third
reason is because voice deviations also occur because based on demographics it is difficult to
determine if it is based on gender, age, and where an individual is from. 2.State the difference(s)

perceptual rating? (1 point) The first disadvantage is that everyone perceives voices and voice
problems differently. I may think an individual has breathy voice, but another individual may
hear more of a strain. When things are subjective, opinions vary. Another disadvantage is there
are a lot of of other signs and symptoms that can make up a voice disorder that are not always
included in a subjective perceptual rating. 8.Briefly describe the aspect(s) of voice that led to

Difference Between Rsa And Mvp Classification Analysis And...
1.1 What is representational similarity analysis?
Representational similarity analysis (RSA) is an analysis framework builds on a rich
psychological and mathematical literature, in which multi channel measures of neural activity
are quantitatively related to each other and to computational theory and behavior by comparing
RDMs. RDM is the representational dissimilarity matrix, which contains a cell for each pair of
experimental conditions. Each cell is a number reflecting the dissimilarity between the activity
patterns associated with the two conditions. The core of the of RSA is to use RDM as a signature
of the representations in brain regions and computational models (Kriegeskorte, Mur,
Bandettini, 2008).
1.2 The differences between RSA and MVP classification analysis and the new information
that can be obtained from representational similarity analysis that is not revealed by MVP
classification or univariate analysis.
RSA is a particular versatile version of MVPA. It goes beyond testing of information in
regional response patterns and enables researchers to handle condition rich experiments without
predefined stimulus categories, to test conceptual and computational models, and to relate
representations between humans and monkeys, and even to related across different types of brain
activity measurements.

American Aircraft Soviet Union Equipment
Introduction While escorting three B 52s on April 2, 1972 United States Air Force EB 66
navigator Lt. Col. Iceal Gene Hambleton (call sign Bat 21) and crew were shot down by a volley
of surface to air missiles (SAM). By this time in the war, the North Vietnamese had become
proficient at downing American aircraft using Soviet Union equipment. As the only survivor of the
EB 66 crew, Hambleton parachuted to relative safety behind North Vietnamese lines. Due to his
rank and prior held positions, Hambleton had Top Secret information on Strategic Air Command
operations and was an expert in surface to air missile countermeasures. Having this information
made Hambleton a high value target for the North Vietnamese. Due to the large scale American
operation to retrieve just one pilot, the North Vietnamese suspected whatever was in the jungle
behind their lines must be of high value and tried just as hard to prevent the American s from
retrieving what was theirs. Hambleton s rescue became what would be the largest, longest, and
most complex search and rescue operation during the VietnamWar. 1
History
President Richard Nixon s policy on the war in Vietnam by the spring of 1972 had lead to a large
draw down in American combat forces. During this draw down, the North Vietnamese Army was
preparing for their largest attack of the war. On March 30, 1972, the Nguyen Hue Offensive was

Essay On Nursing Home Neglect
Most people dread nursing homes because it conjures up all types of negative images.
Unfortunately, many of the stories that we hear are true. Despite all the attention this issue has
received recently, neglect in nursing homes continues at an alarming rate. A large majority of
nursing home residents report some type of neglectevery year. Tragically, only a few come to light
as most seniors either do not have the ability to communicate or are simply too afraid to speak up.
There are different types of nursing home neglect some of which include:
1.Medical neglect: This is said to occur when the nursing facility fails to meet or address the basic
medical concerns of the senior resident. For example, if the patient is diabetic, their blood sugar
level needs to be checked frequently. If this is not done, there is a risk that the patient may go into a
coma. Similarly, if a resident presents with symptoms of vomiting, severe abdominal pain, fever,
and diarrhea, it is important to take this condition seriously and to transfer the patient to the nearest.
If the staff does not monitor or cater to these medical situations, they are neglecting the patients.
2.Failure to meet basic living needs: Some nursing homes fail to meet the basic living needs of
the resident. For example, the resident is left in bed with soiled diapers for several days or is not
provided with an adequate amount of food or water, this type of treatment is against basic
humanity. There are also cases where

Phuong Symbolism
In the book The Quiet American Phoung, the beautiful Vietnamese girl caught in a love triangle
with an American spy and a war correspondent, is seen as a commodity, something to be bartered,
without actually taking her feelings into consideration. She is treated as a delicate victim who
needs saving by the men in the book but although it seems like Greene is portraying Phuong as
nothing more than an object, he means for her to represent much more than that. Greene s portrayal
of Phuong as an object represents the treatment of the Vietnamese peoplein the hands of the
Americans. She is meant to be symbolic of her country, both men, American and British wantto
possess her, much like the war raging in Vietnam.
Phuong is treated like an object to be won by the men in The Quiet American. Both Fowler and
Pyle fight for her affections, without truly understanding her. Pyle sees Phuong as being an
innocent, delicate victim that needs to be saved from Fowler who he believes is taking her for

The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie Summary
In The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie narration is a key element in the appeal of the story. The book
starts off in medias res and continues to make use of both analepses and prolepses. Many believe
that an omniscient narrator, in part because of the anachrony, recounts the book but in this essay I
will argue that the book has an unreliable narratorthrough examination of the narration of character
of Mary. On many occasions Muriel Spark uses narration to endorse the treatment of Mary by the
other characters, meaning that the story s narration contains the opinions of the narrator. If the
narrator is unreliable in the account of Mary, then that brings into question the entire narrative
discourse since the reader no longer has a way of distinguishing... Show more content on

Act 3 Vs Hamlet Movie Essay
The director that does the best job presenting act three is Kenneth Branagh. In Branagh s act
threethe tone of the movie is much more positive and the scenes are far more colorful than the
other two versions. The colorfulness does a better job of portraying act three since everybody
other than Hamlet is having funand not grieving the death of the king. This is where the other two
versions aren t as great. In those two interpretations, the film is darker and depressing which does
not encompass what is actually happening in the story.Branagh s depiction of Claudius is also a lot
more superior and intelligent. In Branagh sact three Claudius only reacts to the fact that Hamlet

Branagh s Hamlet is also greater than the other two since his Hamlet has more of a method to
his madness whereas Zeffirelli s does not. In Zeffireli and Olivier s interpretation of Hamlet, he
is a lot more abusive and aggressive towards the other characters; Zeffirelli s even goes as far to
rape his mother and almost have sex with her. Branagh s act three is superior in this aspect since
Hamlet is not a powerful man but is actually more of a coward and so portraying him physically
abusing other characters does not make any sense. Branagh s portrayal of the queen is also
greater than the other two. Gertrude has a lot more power in his version and is able to stand her
ground against Hamlet; she is also the only one not to have a sexual encounter with Hamlet. This
makes Branagh s act three greater because it is more realistic that the queen would be angry with
Hamlet and stand up to him rather than being submissive to him like the other two depictions. In
this version Hamlet is much more emotional. In the other two Hamlet rarely shows his

The Pros And Cons Of Humanitarian Intervention
Humanitarian intervention has brought as much help and support to the world as it has brought
unrest. The nature of intervention involves another actor intervening in another state. Therefore,
sovereignty becomes conditional. When and how to intervene is one challenge. Many countries
deploy military forces into conflict zones or diplomatic tools. The UN deploys Peacekeepers,
unarmed forces. Timing still remains a contested issue, when to arrive and when to leave. In
addition, many interventions lack a consensus from regional or international actors, for example,
the recent US led interventionin Libya. The African Union was against it; but, the Arab League was
for it. International organizations and states should create an in depth comprehension of the
situation and a coherent, concise plan, including a timeline, objectives, and exit strategy, when
conducting a humanitarian intervention. In the early 1990s, Somalia was facing a famine outbreak.
There were signs of a potential civil war. The US marines provided famine assistance in December
1992 (Goldstein et al. 1). US troops were unprepared to deal with the political turmoil that was
plaguing the country and faced shooting skirmishes with militants groups. 18 US soldiers were
killed in the Black Hawk Dawn incident, one soldier s dead body was dragged through the streets
(Goldstein et al. 1). This event forced President Bill Clintonto withdraw troops leaving Somalia in
a state of civil war. In conclusion, the US failed

In order to balance both there has to be comparative with the parents. Technology isn t good nor

to set up a schedule in where the kids will follow the time the kids will be using the tablet

parent take action in how much kids need to spend time in the screens can be a good start.
Luscombe argues, Take away the idea that all screens are bad, but the face to face time for young

children need to develop good social skills, and that can only be done by interacting with others,

Essay on The Digestive System
The Digestive System
What are the main functions in digestion of the
a) mouth
b) stomach
c) small intestine
The mouth takes in the food and uses the teeth and the salivary glands do break down the food so
it could move onto the next phase. The teeth chew food while the salivary glands, liver, bile duct
and pancreas produce digestive juices to break down food.
The stomach is a L shaped, organ situated on the left side of the abdominal cavity beneath the
diaphragm. At either end of this organ is a sphincter muscle which contracts and relaxes to control
the movement of food in and out of he stomach. The stomach churns the food and releases gastric
juices to help break it down. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pharynx pushes the food down into the oesophagus also known as the food pipe. The
oesophagus uses the process of peristalsis to propel the food down towards the stomach. The
stomach uses hydrochloric acid and pepsin to help with the break down of food the stomach
churns the food for the process of breaking down the food and then leaves the stomach in the
form of chyme. This then enters the small intestine, this is where all the nutrients in the food are
absorbed. Also in the digestive process the pancreas and the liver also play a part. The pancreas
releases hormone in the body via the blood steam as well as that it also produces enzymes such as,
Trysin which digests proteins and breaks them down into amino acids,
Amylase which continues the digestion of starch,
Lipase which breaks down the fats into fatty acids and glycerol,
The pancreas also keeps a check on the amount of glucose in the blood. If the levels of glucose are
too high or too low, it produces hormones that stimulate the liver to adjust the balance. The liver has
a number of functions such as,
Storing and filtering blood,
Secreting bile to help break down fat,
Detoxification of harmful substances such as alcohol, paracetomol and other chemicals into safer
form,

Organic Solidarity By Emile Durkheim
Emile Durkheim was a French famous sociologist, one of the main founders of modern sociology,
mostly known for the way he viewed the structure of society. He mostly focused on how past and
present societies progressed and function. Durkheim s philosophies were based on the thought of
social facts , defined as the norms, values, and the way society is structured. To Durkheim, men are
creatures whose desires are unlimited. Other animals are content when their biological needs are
fulfilled, but humans are different, because they are never satisfied with what they have. Durkheim
says that, The more one has, the more one wants. For Durkheim, a society is not only a group of

In traditional societies, people are independent, hence society has little need for collaboration and
interdependence. Organisations that need collaboration and agreement must frequently alternate to
keep society together. Traditional mechanical solidarity may have a tendency to be controlling and
forced. In modern societies, under organic solidarity, people are automatically much more mutually
dependent. Concentration and the separation of labour requires assistance. Therefore, harmony and
social integration are needed to survive in this world and do not need the same sort of pressure as
under mechanical solidarity. In organic solidarity, the individual is measured extremely important.
In organic solidarity, the individual, becomes the concentration of rights and accountabilities, the
main source of public and private ceremonials holding the society together, a purpose that was once
done by the religion. To show how important this concept is, Durkheim mentioned the cult of the
individual. But, he made it clear that the cult of the individual is a social fact. Respect for the

The first piece performed was the Italian Concerto in F Major, BWV 971 which was composed by

Allegro, Andante, and Presto. The names of the individual pieces translated to modern English

Within the first movement, it was detectable when she played full scales; it was easier to notice
after learning the G and F scales in class. The beginning was very fast, and although it was
upbeat, it almost felt like a rushed sort of urgency within the first piece. Andante seemed to be a
sad piece. As it was slow and evenly played, it had a melancholy feel to it. The underlying base
clef kept a steady deep tone that despite when the treble notes picked up a bit, it kept it from
becoming cheerful in the slightest. The third piece, presto, was very fast paced. There was a

There are 7 individuals on the planet who hold the key to the web. If in the occasion of a
significant disaster the web is closed down these key holders will together have the capacity to
reboot an essential piece of the framework. Computers are a radiant deed of engineering. They have
developed from straightforward number crunchers to machines with numerous functions and
abilities. Computers have gotten to be common to the point that practically every home has no less
than one computer, and schools discover them a decent hotspot for data and training for their
understudies. Computers have made new professions and dispensed with others and have left an
enormous effect on our general public. The development of the computer has incredibly influenced
expressions of the human experience, the business world, and society and history in numerous
diverse zones, yet to see how extraordinary these progressions are, it is important to examine the
sources of the computers. Innovation has changed the world and the future holds greater creations
for every one of us. Numerous individuals have helped innovation. Three of the numerous
individuals who have helped engineering are Tim Berners Lee, Steve Ballmer, and Linus Torvalds.

Comparison Of Mythical Creatures In Arabian Nights And...
Culture differences in the world are reflected in the novels from different regions of the world.
Arabian Nights is a novel full of Arabian stories and folktales gathered from the Islamic Golden

Mythical creatures are almost always literary creatures that generated popularity out of literary

beings, while some have their origin traced from literary myths. The mythical creatures used in

mythical creatures part of literature? Mythical creatures are archetypes that form from the

This was an assertion against the Ancien Regime, where birth rights distinguished citizens; peasants
had no opportunity to improve their social strata due to the high poverty and oppression. Possibly
the most liberating clause out of the declaration, was the concept of popular sovereignty. It was
considered that absolute power should no longer reside in the hands of the Monarch. Instead,
sovereignty would rest with the nation, giving the citizens the opportunity to exercise their power.
There are some clauses that centre wholly on the enlightenment movement. To liberate a nation
required certain minimal restrictions. In 1762 Rousseau had published the Social Contract.
Within it Rousseau outlined that, human beings agree to an implicit Social Contract which gave
them certain rights, in return for giving up certain freedoms (J.Hunt (1998) Pg7). This inferred
that people have the right to life, in return for giving up the freedom to kill others. Release also

Modern Voodoo in New Orleans departs the most from original Voodoo traditions of the 18th

traditional Voodoo scarcely remained in New Orleans other than with older black New
Orleanians (Long 96). American Voodoo is similar to that of Cuban and Haitian Voodoo
because most of the practitioners are Catholic. It differs, however, in some of it terms. For
example in New Orleans Voodoo they refer to their supreme God as Iwa not Oldumare.
American, more specifically New Orleans, culture has not only affected Voodoo traditions, but
drastically changed the world s perspective on it. People such as Marie Laveau and her daughter
influenced the growth of Voodoo in New Orleans. While Marie Laveau was a traditional

the prospect of devoting my career to such a dynamic, fast advancing field. From the time I was
young, I loved dabbling with computers and experimenting with various applications. My lifetime
has essentially coincided with the rise of modern computing industry, I can feel that there are still
tremendous developments to come in this field. So I choose Computer Science as my university
major, and now, as I am in the end of my undergraduate course, my central goal is to continue my
education in a more competitive and international environment. Any tryst with sciences,

I also learned sundry subjects such as Database Management Systems, Data Structures, Computer
Networks, Computer Organization, Software Engineering, etc with verve. I have observed on
various occasions that there exists a wide gap between learning and implementation at the
undergraduate level, to hugely distance an engineering student from a professional engineer that he
meant to be. The undergraduate courses will enable a student to grasp the fundamentals involved
in a particular discipline of Engineering, they do not present an opportunity to learn the ropes of
technologies that are currently within the industry. So, a bachelor s degree provides a sound
alternative to take a direct leap from schooling fundamentals to industry standards, it is still
insufficient for an Engineer to make it out in the professional world. So, I opt for a graduate

Evaluation Capacity Analysis
In this portion of the evaluative assignments, there will be an analysis to assess the role and
function of evaluations and processes with the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).
ADHS is a large and complex agency which encompasses many departments, divisions, and offices.
As a result, each component and program collects different data and evaluates their capacities
differently. Therefore, for this evaluation capacity analysis, the program that will be focused on is,
the High Risk Perinatal Program/ Newborn Intensive Care Program (HRPP/NICP) within the
Bureau of Women and Children s Health(BWCH), Office of Children s Health (OCH). This
capacity analysis draws on data collected from previous evaluations, as well as data compiled
from conversations with agency staff. With this data, the paper will discuss forms of data
collected, the processes used to collect data, key players, reporting procedures, a discussion of
how data is used within the agency, and a discussion of previous evaluations undertaken to assess
the HRPP/NICP program. The purpose of the overall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pregnant women to risk appropriate services, and (4) establishment of standards of care (ADHS,

The Actual Meaning of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke...
The Actual Meaning of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke
Poetry is made to express the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of the poet. The reader can interpret
the poem however they see fit. Critics are undecided about the theme of Theodore Roethke s My
Papa s Waltz. Some people believe that the poem is one of a happy exchange between a father and
son. The more convincing interpretation is that it has a hidden message of parental abuse. Careful
analysis of the keywords and each individual stanza back up this theory of child abuse by a violent
and drunken father.
The word that is key to the poem is romp. Roethke states that we romped until the pans / slid from
the kitchen shelf (5 6). The word is usually associated with ... Show more content on

Most people would not associate a joyous event and death. For instance, when someone is on a
roller coaster, they hang on tight out of fear. The second stanza gives the details of how the
father was knocking over pans and shelves. No fun event would require continuous destruction to
the house. The reader also sees the mother in a seemingly helpless state as the father continues to
damage the house. She seems to be in a state of dismay as her husband carries on his behavior.
Her frown shows that his actions sadden her but she is powerless to stop him. One would think
that a smile would be more appropriate. This supports the abuse aspect because she would not be
frowning if it was a joyous exchange between the son and father.
In the last two stanza s, Roethke describes the vivid details of the beating. He describes how one
hand clinches the boy s wrist. Clinch seems to be a rather strong word and it indicates a use of
forceful grabbing. If this were a happy dance, the author would not use such a strong description.
Lines 11 12 shows how the father tries to hit the son but due to his intoxication he misses and
grazes the son s ear with the belt buckle. The fourth and final stanza sums up the feelings of the
boy towards the father. The words seem to be directly spoken to the dad. This is not the first time
this type of action has taken place. The reader gets this interpretation because the boy says, you beat
time on my head

Medicare And The Elderly Of The United States
The quantity of Medicare eligible individuals continues to grow as the median age of the
population of the United States rises. The old Medicare system has become outdated and strained
because of the volume of individuals that are currently receiving benefits within the program. Since
the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicarehas become the main source of
delivering healthcare insurance for the elderly of the United States. In order to meet the current
requirements of the ACA, Medicare must be reformed in order to provide the promised services for
the individuals that are currently receiving benefits and for the future survival of the program.
Medicare was established by the federal government to provide healthcare insurance initially for
the elderly and included the disabled a few years after the program s inception. As of 2013, there
were 52.3 million beneficiaries of Medicare, with an average of $11,910 spent on each individual
for healthcare, with a total annual budget of $582.9 billion (NCPSSM, 2015). Medicare is funded
through two trust fund accounts that are held by the U.S. Treasury: the Hospital Insurance (HI) and
Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Trust Funds (Medicare.gov, 2015). These trust funds are
financed by payroll deductions, Social Security benefit taxes, premiums paid by Medicare
beneficiaries, interest from investments, and funds furnished by Congress (Medicare.gov, 2015).
All of these resources subsidize the Medicare Trust Fund in

Five Waves Up Analysis
The two poems Five A.M. and Five Flights Up portray the speakers reflections on their early
morning surroundings. Each poet uses his reflection as a means of communicating his unique state
of mind. The poets distinguish their reflections and respective states of mind by narrating in
different points of view and by incorporating rhetorical questions and personifications that uniquely
capture the vitality of the early morning. In the first poem Five A.M. , the speaker distinguishes
his reflection on his early morning surroundings by consistently narrating from the first person
point of view. The poet uses phrases such as I pass , My feet begin , which suggest that the
speaker is in an active mind set, taking the reader on a journey

Examples Of Revised Clergy
Revised clergy essay People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self centered. Forgive them
anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. If
you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are
successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If
you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today
will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have and it will never be enough. Give
your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and

This can be seen by how they dress, talk, or even by how they spend money. It can be further
explained as follows: It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which
your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. Do you have faith? Have it to yourself
before God. ... (Romans 14:21 23 NKJV http://bible.com/114/rom.14.21 22.nkjv). Simply put,
clergies must live by their faith in God. This is also applicable to tithing (giving), as a clergymen
(and all other Christians) would give what has been predetermined in their hearts, no more, no
less to the chosen cause. In fact, some clergies have convictions about accepting any pay for
work do in the church! It seems crazy: the idea of working a second job after hours of labor is
not for the faint of heart, but for those who are convinced it is what God has called them to do, it
becomes a passionate endeavor. Coupled with certain convictions and preferences over pay, a
clergy might also in effect have to crop out some of the more luxurious articles of first world life
or maybe first world life in total (as in the instance of many 3rd world missionaries), regarding
this, sacrifices are made by all those who follow this career path. Furthermore, clergies often do not
have large amounts of job security as their career is based off attendance and

Similarities Between Jama And Jamaica

Jamaica and China; two countries that have embarked bilateral relationships spanning some 30
years. This relationship between developed and developing countries has spawned me attending a
programme which will ensure that there is knowledge transfer and economic ties between both.
This article aims to show the similarities and the differences of comparing culture of the two
nations and how they relate to each other.
Jamaica
According to the embassy of Jamaica website Jamaica is the third largest island in the Caribbean

It falls between mid January and mid February and is a time to honor ancestors. During the 15
day celebration, the Chinese do something every day to welcome the New Year, such as eat rice
congee and mustard greens to cleanse the body. The holiday is marked with fireworks and parades
featuring dancers dressed as dragons.
Jamaicans celebrate their independence on August sixth. For several weeks beforehand, they stage
a huge celebration called Festival! During this period artists of all types perform, many as part of
competitions. School children also are involved in the festivities. This helps foster their sense of
national pride and tradition.
Jonkanoo (John Canoe) is a dancing procession held around Christmas time. The origins of this
celebration are not clear, but many believe its origins to be in East Africa. Celebrants wearing
extravagant costumes dance to the music of drums and cane flutes.
General comparisons
In my discussions with Chinese students I ve realized that In the western countries where one can
marry at age 18, in china They are also not permitted (by law) to marry until they are 22 or females

TAKAFUL
TAKAFUL
Takaful is a co operative system of reimbursement in case of loss, paid to people and companies
concerned about hazards, compensated out of a fund to which they agree to donate small regular
contributions managed on behalf by a Takaful Operator. It is defined as an Islamic insurance
concept which is grounded in Islamic muamalat (Islamic banking), observing the rules and
regulations of Islamic law. This concept has been practised in various forms since 622 CE. Muslim
jurists acknowledge that the basis of shared responsibility (in the system of aquila as practised
between Muslims of Mecca and Medina) laid the foundation of mutual insurance.

As with the traditional forms of insurance, reinsurance of a takaful operation may be used, known
as retakaful
The Mudharabah model (profit sharing)
According to this principle the al Mudharib (takaful operator) accepts payment of the takaful
installments or takaful contributions (premiums, known as ra s ul mal) from investors or
providers of capital or funds (takaful participants), acting as sahib ul mal. The contract specifies
how the profits (or surplus) from the operations of the takaful is to be shared in accordance with
the principle of al mudharabah between the participants (as providers of capital) and the takaful
operator. The sharing of such profit may be in a ratio of 50:50, 60:40, 70:30 and so forth, as
mutually agreed between the contracting parties.
In order to eliminate the element of uncertainty in the takaful contract, the concept of tabarru ( to
donate, contribute, or give away ) is incorporated. Relating to this concept, a participant agrees to
relinquish (as tabarru) a certain proportion of his takaful installments (or contributions) that he
agrees or undertakes to pay, should any of his fellow participants suffer a defined loss. This
agreement enables him to fulfill his obligation of mutual help and joint guarantee.
In essence, tabarru enables participants to perform their deeds in assisting fellow participants who

  • 2. Head Coach Essay Calaveras Enterprise sports editor Guy Dossi spoke with Calaveras new junior varsity head coach Doug Clark. They spoke of the difference from going from a varsity assistant coach to a head JV coach, the changes Clark will have to make on game day, and what he misses about coaching varsity. GD: Well Doug, I looked at the schedule earlier during the summer and I saw you were listed at JV head coach and it kind of took me by surprise. You were the varsity defensive coordinator for such a long time, what made you want to make the switch? DC: I m just thinking down the road. I know that Weatherby isn t going to be coaching forever. And with him here, I m not going to get any head coaching opportunity experience, unless I went down to JV. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good varsity program really depends on a strong JV program. Can you talk about the importance of building a strong foundation on the lower level, so that the varsity squad continues to get players who are ready to compete year after year. DC: (Jason) Weatherby has done a wonderful job and I just hope to go down to the JV level and keep that going. It boils down even to the Pop Warner level. That s something that as a JV coach, I want to incorporate even more. More communication and more networking with the Pop Warner team. Because the Pop Warner feeds the JV. The JV feeds the varsity. The more that we are on sync, the better the program is going to be overall. GD: You were associated with the varsity team for such a long time, so it must be difficult not coaching with guys you consider your friends and having them around all the time. DC: It s very weird. It s different. You see them on the field before we separate and I talk to them afterwards and there are a lot of phone calls going back and forth. But yeah, that s one of the hardest parts about going down. I ve been coaching with those guys for so long. We know each other s moves. We can read each other s minds and we are always on the same page. That s now what I m trying to get accomplished down below. GD: Now that you are coaching junior varsity, that changes the way your Friday s unfold. Before, you could relax during the JV game, maybe eat a tri tip sandwich, shoot the breeze with your ... • 3. How Does Romeo Change Throughout The Tempest At the end of William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, the main protagonist is faced with the subject of whether or not he can return to his dukedom of Milan a good leader. In the beginning, Prospero s brother, Antonio, dethrones Prospero as he lost sight of the limit of the power he possessed. Becoming obsessed and primarily focused on his studies of magic, Prosperous gave the management of his domain to Antonio in order to keep the nation running. Antonio soon took on a larger role in the government, breaking the screen between a proxy to Prosperoand the true duke to Milan. Overthrown, Prospero was cast away to a desert island where he would spend the next ten years awaiting his return to Milan. While on the island Prosperous has a change of... The two most important interactions that outline his change in character are the ones between his brother Antonio, and the King of Naples, Alonso. Prospero takes the initiative and forgives his brother, twice. He confronts Antonio, I do forgive thee, / Unnatural though thou art (V.i.88 89) and, I do forgive / Thy rankest fault, all of them (V.i.151 152). Lines like these show an overview of Prospero s new character at the end of the play. The first of change is admitting the wrongs and moving on from the past, both of which Prospero does. Prospero s opinions about Alonso is also decidedly different from the beginning of the play. When talking to Miranda, Prospero refers to the Kind as being an enemy (I.ii.145) as well as Antonio composing A treacherous army (I.ii.152) of both the forces of Milan and Naples. It is clear that Prospero initially had strong feelings against the Naples family tree and kingdom. However, alongside the marriage of Ferdinand, the prince of Naples, and Prospero s own daughter, relations between the two seem to have bettered by the end. Prospero only treats Alonso with respect saying, I embrace thy body (V.i.120) and, Let me embrace thine age, whose honor cannot / Be measured or confined (V.i.135 136). Prospero already begins to deal with the politics of Milan has he ensures that the relationship between the two countries is strong. I will tell you. Hear me out. This is not a joke, nor a pleasant position to be in. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to yourself, Oh yes, I ve been hungry before. I ve missed breakfast. Then, my stomach starts to growl, big deal. No, you have it wrong. Put yourself in my shoes where I desire just a morsel of foodin the dumpster in the alley. Hunger is being thankful for the hamburger meal someone cheerfully gave to you. With my stomach aching for a meal, an individual dressed in modesty spots me out from the busy crowd. My clothes were covered in muck from laying on the grease smudged concrete from that night; however, that individual approaches me with charm and politely asked how was my day. I told them I was doing fine, but a meal right now would be great. The individual hands me their lunch they were going to have for work and wishes me a great day. I looked at the bag like a child being loose in a candy store. With glee, I opened the McDonald s bag and pulled out a Big Mac meal. I consume each bite viciously, leaving no crumbs like it was my last time eating. I cried with gladness because I hope I can thank that person again one day. Prior to discussing MK s clinical findings and its correlations with chronic bronchitis, we must first have an understanding of what this disease involves. Chronic bronchitis is defined as a chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and is identified by a hypersecretion of bronchial mucus and chronic or recurrent productive cough of more than three months and occurring each year for two or more successive years in a patient (Copstead Banasik, 2013). Furthermore, if you break down the words Chronic Bronchitis the word Chronic stands for a condition lasting over a long period... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Putting the words back together, chronic bronchitis is the chronic inflammation and swelling of the bronchial mucosa, which can lead to scarring and a variety of other clinical manifestations. This is where we can correlate the clinical findings from MK s case study to the chronic bronchitis. Here we find clinical manifestations such as chronic coughing with more severe fits in the morning with sputum, excessive peripheral edema, light headedness, distended neck veins, and increased night urination. The most predominant symptom in chronic bronchitis is the chronic cough, which can last over the course of three months successively for at least two years. This is a result of inflammation of the bronchial mucosa which leads to hypertrophy and causes scarring to occur. The hypertrophy then cause the over production of mucus which results in the chronic coughing as the body tries to get rid of the excess mucus. MK states that she has been smoking for the past 22 years which points to her experiencing smokers cough with more severe fits in the morning. This is explained due to M.K. laying down overnight that can cause the mucus to build up and can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Nature Of Justice In The Oresteia By Aeschylus The Oresteia is a book of plays written by Aeschylus that centers around the myth of the polis. In each story, the theme of the polis is different. They each want to get revenge or avenge someone that did wrong to someone that they love or loved. The in this story the polis poses questions as what is the nature of justice and what are the methods of establishing and maintaining justice on earth. This story uses the legend of the family Atreus and how he took revenge on his brother, Thyestes, for seducing his wife. Atreus killed two of Thyestes sons and fed them to him to avenge the seducing of his wife. This started the chain of events that led to the family thinking that an eye for an eye is the only way to settle things. It first started off with Agamemnons father Atreus and his brother Thyestes who is the father of Aegisthus. During those times, they were contended for the throne of Argos, but during this time Thyestes seduced his brother s wife and was driven out of Argos. When he came back Atreus had established himself as the sole king. Thyestes begged his brother for forgiveness and Atreus pretended to forgive him. Atreus was still upset that his brother seduced his wife and was plotted to avenge that so he killed Thyestes two younger sons, cooked them, and served them to Thyestes to eat. When Thyestes found out he was disgusted and horrified so he took only son that he had left and fled from Argos. This is what started the polis in this story of The Oresteia. To ... Usually the CEO is held responsible for corporate problems, but a firm s board is essential to preventing malfeasance and ensuring that management acts with integrity. I would describe some of Messier s actions as corporate malfeasance. For example, Messier repurchased a significant amount of VivendiUniversal s stock (i.e., 6.4 billion Euros from 2001 2002) to fund employee stock optiongrants. Because Messier was so focused on the firm s stock, his focus was not on the firm s financial stability nor did he make the best use of excess cash. Now the parent company was left with debt and many overvalued assets. Vivendi Universal would eventually have to write down significant amounts due to excessive goodwill estimates from acquisitions. Messier was stubborn. He declared that these loses were not reflective of the company s sound operations and tried to blame Lescure, the decision maker for Canal Plus, for the parent company s business failure, deeming Canal Plus as a tumor for Vivendi Universal. All in all, Messier was adamant in keeping to the story that his firm was in good financial position, and, because he had the support of board members (who he had initially appointed), others believed this story as well. His persistence in growing the business fogged his perception of reality he was managing a failing business. It is clear that Messier did a poor job as CEO. 3.Messier was a victim of bad timing, however, his failure as a CEO should not only be attributed to poor timing. • 15. The Value Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By Robert Hayden Love, in any form, is such that people find ways of celebrating it. The American poet Robert Hayden honors this compelling emotion in the poem Those Winter Sundays. Those Winter Sundays is a fourteen line literary work that gives a description of an event from the speaker s past. Although the poem is a short description of an event past, much information can be read between the lines of few words. Freelance writer Jeannine Johnson characterizes Hayden s work to honor the value of loves simple, domestic services in our lives (Johnson). Moreover, the value of love in Those Winter Sundays is underlined by the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic sensory images to emphasize the change in the speaker s perspective of the events.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other than the title, the visual sensory images of the body of the poem also support the contrast and change in the speaker s perspective. The first stanza implies the eagerness of the father to carry out simple chores for his family as he does not fail to accomplish on Sundays the same task he tirelessly does on every other day of the week...On every day, Monday through Saturday, and even on Sundays too (Johnson, par. 1). The first line may denote the father s care, however, the nonchalance on the part of the speaker in Sundays too my father got up early (Hayden 1) is also apparent. It could be that the line is a mere statement of a simple recollection, but is also indicative of how the speaker trivializes the father s early morning efforts. If in the first line the speaker offhandedly remarks about the early morning efforts of the father, the speaker, in the following lines, shows more concern in sharing minute details about the condition in which the father carried out his morning tasks. In fact, the nonchalance in the first line suddenly changes as said line contributes to the intensity of the image of and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold, / then with cracked hands that ached/ from labor in the weekday weather made (Hayden 3 4). In the book Why Tesol?, it states that the major tenets of Cummins model of second language acquisition is the framework that focuses on the distinction between social language and academic language. Cummins Quadrant Model consists of 4 quadrants: Quadrant 1 Social language; Quadrant 2 Target language; Quadrant 3 Target language; Quadrant 4 Academic language. (p. 152). • 20. Homosexuality And The Effects Of The Stonewall Riots The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality was often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality was deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This idea was heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gaywas one of the worst things an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after the conflict at the Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn was the place where gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as many of them ran away or were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a place of freedom, it was also a place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make sure that alcohol was not being served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it illegal to serve homosexuals. Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the transformation of American society to become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise between the nation and the LGBTcommunity was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to spread as the conflict was able to bring a wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role models to feel inspired to stand up. Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and England, but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries on both sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often come with rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example, The Treaty of Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist, kicking the French off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were subject to the confinements that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach that it had would have ultimately been cut short. The first reason is because everyone has different characteristics of what a normal voice is. The second reason is because when individuals has a unique voice, it difficult to decide if it is their voice or a voice disorder. Representational similarity analysis (RSA) is an analysis framework builds on a rich psychological and mathematical literature, in which multi channel measures of neural activity are quantitatively related to each other and to computational theory and behavior by comparing RDMs. RDM is the representational dissimilarity matrix, which contains a cell for each pair of experimental conditions. Each cell is a number reflecting the dissimilarity between the activity patterns associated with the two conditions. The core of the of RSA is to use RDM as a signature of the representations in brain regions and computational models (Kriegeskorte, Mur, Bandettini, 2008). 1.2 The differences between RSA and MVP classification analysis and the new information that can be obtained from representational similarity analysis that is not revealed by MVP classification or univariate analysis. Edna St. Vincent Millays use of powerful diction, exemplified by her choice of the words suffer and treacherous, add to her melancholy and lamenting tone in the sestet, and aid in the understanding of the overall message of her sonnet. Millay s use of the harsh word suffer, sets a melancholy and lamenting tone in the sestet of her sonnet, which contradicts her carefree tone in the octave. Voodoo is one of the most misunderstood religions; in fact, none of the aforementioned are in any way practiced by Voodooists. The religionof Vodun, also known as Voodoo, is on of the world s oldest religions and has gone through many changes in because of European exploration into Africa, the African slave trade, and American culture. Modern Voodoo in New Orleans departs the most from original Voodoo traditions of the 18th and 19th century and is now more of a Voodoo revival than anything else. By the 20th century traditional Voodoo scarcely remained in New Orleans other than with older black New Orleanians (Long 96). American Voodoo is similar to that of Cuban and Haitian Voodoo because most of the practitioners are Catholic. It differs, however, in some of it terms. For example in New Orleans Voodoo they refer to their supreme God as Iwa not Oldumare. American, more specifically New Orleans, culture has not only affected Voodoo traditions, but drastically changed the world s perspective on it. People such as Marie Laveau and her daughter influenced the growth of Voodoo in New Orleans. While Marie Laveau was a traditional practitioner of Voodoo, her daughter Marie Laveau II focused more on theatrics of Voodoo ceremonies and had large gatherings and became a prominent figure of her time. She included Catholic figures in her ceremonies by continuing the Haitian tradition of mixing Catholic saints with African spirits. Though she spread Voodoo, Marie also had a negative affect on Voodoo perspective because she sold alcohol and ran a brothel. These negative aspects were intensified because of superstition and Voodoo eventually was seen as an evil religion that worships the devil come from. It was during Voodoo New Orleanian beginnings in which the superstitions of the voodoo doll, black magic, and devil worship were created. None of which were in fact true about Voodoo, but as these views became more widespread Voodoo became more of entertainment than religion in New Orleans. Since the 1960 s people have been using Voodoo misconceptions to make money which is why there are so many tourist shops in New Orleans that sell Voodoo dolls and other crafts and make false claims about their ... I am very galvanized at the prospect of devoting my career to such a dynamic, fast advancing field. From the time I was young, I loved dabbling with computers and experimenting with various applications. My lifetime has essentially coincided with the rise of modern computing industry, I can feel that there are still tremendous developments to come in this field. The Actual Meaning of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke Poetry is made to express the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of the poet. The reader can interpret the poem however they see fit. Critics are undecided about the theme of Theodore Roethke s My Papa s Waltz. Some people believe that the poem is one of a happy exchange between a father and son. The more convincing interpretation is that it has a hidden message of parental abuse. Careful analysis of the keywords and each individual stanza back up this theory of child abuse by a violent and drunken father. The word that is key to the poem is romp. Most people would not associate a joyous event and death. For instance, when someone is on a roller coaster, they hang on tight out of fear. The second stanza gives the details of how the father was knocking over pans and shelves. No fun event would require continuous destruction to the house. The reader also sees the mother in a seemingly helpless state as the father continues to damage the house. She seems to be in a state of dismay as her husband carries on his behavior. Her frown shows that his actions sadden her but she is powerless to stop him. One would think that a smile would be more appropriate. This supports the abuse aspect because she would not be frowning if it was a joyous exchange between the son and father. In the last two stanza s, Roethke describes the vivid details of the beating. He describes how one hand clinches the boy s wrist. Clinch seems to be a rather strong word and it indicates a use of forceful grabbing. If this were a happy dance, the author would not use such a strong description. Lines 11 12 shows how the father tries to hit the son but due to his intoxication he misses and grazes the son s ear with the belt buckle. The fourth and final stanza sums up the feelings of the boy towards the father. The words seem to be directly spoken to the dad. This is not the first time this type of action has taken place. The old Medicare system has become outdated and strained because of the volume of individuals that are currently receiving benefits within the program. Since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicarehas become the main source of delivering healthcare insurance for the elderly of the United States. In order to meet the current requirements of the ACA, Medicare must be reformed in order to provide the promised services for the individuals that are currently receiving benefits and for the future survival of the program.
