Karyn S. Hollingsworth grew up immersed in the college environment as the daughter of two educators. She was fascinated by her experiences visiting her father's classroom and attending campus events. This early exposure shaped her view that universities should be drivers of economic and community development by producing educated graduates, conducting impactful research, and enriching cultural experiences. As president of UNLV, Hollingsworth believes the university must overcome funding challenges to serve Southern Nevada's diverse population and workforce needs. UNLV should enhance K-12 partnerships, demonstrate its value to the community through assessment and communication, and support students in reflecting Nevada's growing diversity.
