Over
  the
  years
  my
  desire
  to
  create
  has
  increased
  and

  my
  fascination
  with
  art

and
  design
  has
  grown.
  This
  interest
  has
  graduated
  into
  working
  with
  different

mediums,
  from
  Calligraphy
  to
  Advertising
  Design
  and
  street
  art.
  I
  used
  to
  find
  it

difficult
  in
  school
  to
  start
  a
  piece
  of
  work
  without
  doing
  an
  elaborate
  typographic

title
  page
  first,
  now
  I
  am
  excited
  to
  apply
  this
  to
  live
  briefs
  and
  projects
  where
  I

can
  express
  my
  originality.
  I
  take
  inspiration
  from
  a
  range
  of
  sources
  including

cultural
  influences
  like
  hip
  hop
  and
  skating
  style
  and
  designs
  but
  I
  appreciate

and
  understand
  the
  traditional
  established
  Type
  faces
  and
  design
  styles.
  I
  always

approached
  situations
  and
  problems
  with
  creativity
  and
  enjoy
  doing
  things

unconventionally.

I
  have
  been
  studying
  a
  Media
  Diploma
  and
  this
  course
  has
  boosted
  my
  artistic,

creative
  and
  technical
  skills,
  I
  have
  used
  a
  range
  of
  mediums
  and
  software
  which

I
  believe

  has
  helped
  me
  develop
  a
  well-‐rounded
  skill
  set.

  Most
  of
  my
  artistic

output
  is
  done
  in
  my
  spare
  time,
  in
  which
  I
  enjoy
  sketching
  drawing
  and

painting.
  Through
  this
  I
  have
  developed
  a
  specific
  style
  and
  technique
  and
  I
  have

found
  that
  typographic
  design
  is
  where
  my
  main
  interest
  lies.

  Though
  college

projects
  I
  have
  boosted
  my
  confidence
  and
  have
  achieved
  high
  standards
  in

leadership,
  an
  aspect
  I
  previously
  thought
  to
  need
  improvement.
  So
  I
  set
  it
  my

goal
  when
  appointed
  team
  leader
  in
  a
  group
  to
  grasp
  the
  opportunity
  and
  am

proud
  of
  the
  progress
  I
  have
  made
  In
  this
  area.
  I
  have
  been
  to
  lectures
  and
  open

days
  based
  around
  graphic
  design
  and
  art
  and
  design
  and
  they
  have
  really

inspired
  me
  and
  fuelled
  my
  desire
  to
  produce
  more
  work
  and
  pushed
  me
  in

directions
  I
  was
  previously
  not
  aware,
  therefor
  I
  am
  approaching
  graphic
  design

with
  a
  new
  found
  sense
  of
  anticipation
  and
  eagerness
  to
  broaden
  my
  knowledge.

I
  have
  also
  visited
  a
  lot
  of
  local
  galleries
  and
  recently
  found
  things
  that
  have

really
  motivated
  me
  and
  reaffirmed
  in
  my
  mind
  that
  this
  is
  what
  I
  really
  want
  to

do.
  This
  included
  visiting
  the
  'Art
  In
  Your
  Mouth'
  event
  in
  Norwich.
  I
  found
  the

typography
  and
  mixed
  media
  really
  reinforced
  my
  desire
  to
  create
  and
  achieve.

The
  other
  subject
  I
  have
  been
  studying
  is
  English
  Literature
  and
  this
  course
  has

opened
  my
  eyes
  to
  other
  sides
  of
  graphic
  designs
  and
  I
  have
  become
  very

interested
  in
  book
  binding
  and
  publishing
  design.
  This
  is
  something
  I
  hope
  to

become
  more
  involved
  in.

  Studying
  English
  has
  allowed
  me
  do
  develop
  my

knowledge
  in
  how
  to
  put
  an
  emphasis
  on
  audience
  perception
  and
  I
  have
  learnt

techniques
  for
  engaging
  and
  interesting
  audiences
  and
  believe
  this
  to
  be
  a
  crucial

part
  of
  effective
  Graphic
  Design.

  Some
  of
  my
  interests
  include
  cycling,
  which
  I
  like
  to
  set
  myself
  a
  target
  of

visiting
  places
  I
  haven’t
  been
  before
  I
  enjoy
  the
  challenge
  and
  the
  sense
  of

accomplishment
  I
  get
  from
  this.
  I
  have
  also
  intertwined
  Photography
  within
  this,

I
  am
  interested
  in
  architectural
  photography
  as
  well
  as
  street
  art
  photography

which
  gives
  me
  the
  extra
  incentive

  for
  traveling.
  I
  enjoy
  visiting
  places
  around

the
  UK
  and
  abroad
  with
  friends
  but
  also
  by
  myself.
  Through
  this
  I
  think
  I
  have

achieved
  invaluable
  experience
  of
  independence,
  organisation
  and

resourcefulness.
  I
  do
  believe
  that
  the
  key
  to
  success
  in
  a
  creative
  field
  is
  allowing

horizons
  to
  be
  broadened
  and
  having
  an
  open
  mind,
  which
  allows
  inspiration

and
  creativity
  to
  flow.
  I
  feel
  that
  I
  thrive
  in
  creative
  circles
  and
  enjoy
  immersing

myself
  in
  friendship
  groups
  of
  artists
  and
  creative
  people
  because
  I
  believe

inspiration
  and
  productivity
  come
  from
  working
  as
  a
  team.

I
  have
  previously
  visited
  the
  University
  on
  an
  open
  day
  and
  it
  infused
  and

inspired
  me
  but
  also
  assured
  me
  that
  this
  course
  is
  what
  I
  want
  to
  do
  and
  I

believe
  that
  it
  is
  what
  I
  can
  excel
  in.
  I
  feel
  I
  have
  gained
  valuable
  experience
  not

only
  through
  college
  study
  but
  also
  from
  experiences
  outside
  of
  college
  and

believe
  I
  have
  the
  potential
  to
  do
  something
  great.
