Leaders need to have: goals, followers who actively support goal achievement, and followers who know how to take the right actions. The leader follower relationship is fulfilled when both are knowledgeable, open, caring, approachable, supportive, transparent in communication, committed to take the right actions, and authentic. Followership is defined as the willingness to cooperate in working toward the accomplishment of defined goals while demonstrating a high degree of interactive teamwork. Effective followers are active participants (partners) in creating and fulfilling the leadership process. Followers permit leaders to establish and keep themselves in control of a situation that is productive, efficient, goal oriented, and people-oriented. Once during an interview, I was asked if leadership is measurable. I said yes, leaders can turn around to see if anyone is following, goals are achieved, and people are energized.

When we think of leaders in the healthcare industry, we often focus on the famous policy-makers that have come before us. We may not realize how truly significant our own personal leadership can be to those around us. Every person has the ability to be a leader regardless of the job title that we may hold. Laureate Education (2018) shared that leaders are not defined by position or title, rather they’re characterized by their ability to craft a compelling vision while inspiring others to follow. To enhance our leadership skills, it is important to frequently acknowledge our leadership strengths and weaknesses. Laureate Education (2014) explained that it is important to understand what your skills, talents, and competencies are in order to see how they could best be served in the organization. Positivity, includer, achiever, relator, and futuristic themes were identified in my CliftonStrengths profile. Strengths Finder (2018) explained that by focusing on your Signature Themes, separately and in combination, you can identify your talents, build them into strengths, and enjoy personal and career success. Completing this assessment allowed me to gain an understanding of my values, strengths, and areas that I wish to improve upon. I found that my positive outlook and approach to situations allows me to include and relate to those around me as I drive my team towards the achievement of our goals. Introduction
Leadership is one of most vital elements of corporate success. Leadership is the practice of inspiring a team of individuals to act toward accomplishing a common vision (Oreg & Berson, 2015). The favorite style of inspiring employees in the work environments is paying attention to individual matters of the employees. The managers or team leaders are equally responsible for the motivation level of their team members. The managers do this by creating a friendly and conducive environment which helps the employees to become more intrinsically inspired. The leaders and managers motivate other employees through effective communications in the organization. A great leader should be aware of his or her styles of leadership.
A person must possess combinations of leadership skills and personalities that make other people show interests in following their directions for one to be termed as a leader. The leaders should be duly dedicated to organizing others and problem-solving in the right way. The ability to effectively solve problems is another vital element of leadership. Various leaders nevertheless use different approaches of leadership and this leads to differences in corporate performances. This paper will examine my leadership skills. This involves strategies, tools, and tactics I use in my leadership (Whetten, Cameron, & Woods, 2007). The work will as well focus on problem-solving and conflict management skills which I regularly use when managing others.

As a leader, that there must be communication aspect for collaborations to work (Oreg & Berson, 2015). Poor or lack of communications leads to confusions and results in disagreements. I call for regular communications in implementation process in ensuring that arising problems are handled instantly when they arise even after taking the time to explain the workers and select the vital ones. This strategy promotes teamwork among the staff members and minimizes imminent loses. My informal and formal interactions prove me to be jovial leaders who utilize humor in elaborating even serious parts of conversations. My pitches have astonished my audiences and stakeholders such as clients since I am articulate in describing the problems and the solutions which the organization shall provide via its projects and products. If two employees are involved in conflicts or disputes, I do not continue arguing but rather, I usually put them done and mediate in finding resolutions for the problem. This ensures that all employees remain united in achieving common goals.
To avoid uncontrollable behaviors of employees and magnification of the conflict, sometimes, I use confrontation of observed faults. Upholding excellent communications with my team members guarantee that disputes are minimized, and they are successfully negotiated if any. The society we live in is composed of people from different cultures and with different values and systems. Cultural immersion is considered as the act of surrounding oneself with the culture of a different group. Culture is the totality of socially transmitted behavior patterns, beliefs, arts, institutions and thought characteristics of a population or community (Hamdan, 2017). It is a set of shared beliefs, values, attitudes, and behavioral patterns of an organization or a group (Hammoud, White, & Fetters, 2005). In this project, I have chosen to focus on Islamic culture by visiting and interacting with them in the mosques located in my community, New York City. Like many other religions, Islam claims to be universally accommodating within its cultural folds. Islam is one of the religions that have a broad parameter of rules and regulations and one with unique culture and traditions.
There has always been is a difference in opinion on whether Islam has its own distinct culture. But the social norms that are derived from Muslims are often reflected in the everyday lives of its followers and the society. New York City is one of the regions that have a very high population of Muslims in the US. The Muslim community has come under a lot of criticisms from non-Muslims particularly as a result of their connection with terrorism and terrorist groups, mostly in the wake of President Trump’s administration where many of them have been disenfranchised. Most non-Muslims however do not know much about their culture. In this project I will visit Muslim gatherings in New York City to interact with them and observe their culture, beliefs, and behavioral patterns. I will contact a leader or any member of the Muslim community in the gatherings for an interview on how to effectively interact with the group or get a cultural guide to help access the group in a better way. I will engage with the individuals within the gathering setting in five different occasions.
During the interview with the leader or member of the group, I will put focus on the culture of the Muslim community including some of their renowned beliefs, values, attitudes, and behaviors. Everyone knows that Muslims is one of the most strict religions across the globe. Well, I would wish to determine whether that is true and learn more about them. I believe that the good or bad things we do to people affect their lives more significantly in a way that we may not know. Therefore, I choose to care genuinely for people to ensure positive impact in their lives. I know I have all that it takes to care for a person; it is an inner instinct to do so since it is part of my personality, I call it empathy. I believe the basis of my leadership philosophy has two fundamental pillars –
accountability and inspiration. I look at a leader as someone who accomplishes results for his or
her organization by effectively balancing workforce accountability with workforce inspiration. I
further believe leadership is based on intentional acts with a specific result in mind. Leaders
should be kind, humble, tolerant, productive, accountable, and provide a service to those they
lead.
Accountability involves managing employee performance on an ongoing basis. This
includes defining expectations, setting goals, monitoring results, and giving regular feedback.
Communication is paramount in building a culture of accountability. With that in mind, I would
develop a plan to communicate broad expectations to all employees while setting goals for
individual employees that related to the overall organizational goals and expectations. I am a
firm believer that feedback is the “food of champions” so my approach would include regular
positive and constructive feedback. While I would expect any employee to be accountable to
achieving their goals, I would offer any support I could to help him or her achieve the goals.
Inspiration involves listening to people, creating a culture of engagement for all
employees, involving them in decision making, encouraging them, praising their progress, and
facilitating interaction throughout the entire team. I believe inspiration starts with developing
mutual trust and respect with those that I am leading. Trust and respect is best developed by
being kind, humble, tolerant, and allowing your actions as a leader to demonstrate that you truly
care about those that you are leading. I learned the value of team work throughout my entire life
and truly believe that Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM). Under that principal, I
believe in giving every team member a role where they can meaningfully contribute to the
organizational cause and believe it is important for a leader to facilitate each team member
working in concert for a common goal. I have found that people respond well to praise and tend
to strive for even more when their accomplishments are and progress is positively acknowledged.
My style tends to be steady and compliant. I tend to be empathetic and generally care
about others and their aspirations. I understand that everyone comes from a different place and
has had different life experiences. I believe I am a person of integrity and tend to be humble. I
believe I can use these natural tendencies to be an effective leader that balances accountability
and inspiration for the benefit of a cause and for the benefit of those I lead.
