Bronze Dbq
Question 1: The Bronze Age was the time that bronze is a primary metal used to make weapons
and other tools. Mycenaeans contributed to this time through Greek culture and the growing power
of monarchies. A civilization called the Minoans the Bronze Age focused on trade and the quality
of what they were trading. If the trade was better than the goods were made better. The age that
came after bronzewas iron. The Iron Agewas a period when things were starting to be made out of
iron. Iron was much stronger than bronze so that made it more valuable and wanted. The Assyrian
empire was the first empire to have made iron weapons and tools. Both ages impacted the way that
tools were made whether they were bronze or iron.

Lab Report On Ultrasound Treatment
Ultrasound treatment was done according to method by [21] with some modifications. Ultrasonic
probe (JY92 IIN, Ningbo Scientz Biotechnology Co. Ltd, Ningbo, China) was used, with
maximum power 1000Watt, frequency 25 kHz and probe diameter of 13mm. Pectin solutions were
treated at 60% duty cycles, sonication times was fixed at 20 minutes, sonication power (200 and
400 watts). Effect of acidity on sonication was determined at pH2, 4 and 6, by adjusting solution pH
using acetic acid. Native pectin 0.25g was put in 250ml beaker suspended in 100ml deionized
water to achieve low viscosity, it was stirred on a magnetic stirrer for 30 minutes, and sonic
treatment was done by immersing sonic probe up to 1cm deep in the solution. After treatment, the
suspension was precipitated with equal volume of 95%v/v ethanolto precipitate pectin. The content
was centrifuged at 7500xg and filtrate removed. the precipitate was left in fume cupboard to
remove ethanol traces then re dissolved in deionized water and frozen at 45бґјC and eventually
freeze dried for further analysis. Ultrasound intensity was predicted according to the following
equation
I=P/(ПЂr^2 )
Where I= intensity, r =radius of the sonic probe and P= ultrasonic power. 4.2.5. Molecular weight

Martin Luther And The Birth Of Protestantism
Throughout the ages, especially in the middle Ages, the Catholic Church had always been a very
powerful institution in the world. Its wealth, its political power, its splendid and stunning
decorations have always encouraged people to be part of this community of believers. The unique
spiritual concern of Catholics around that time was to know how to have access to the kingdom of
heaven. But however, did church leaders use this opportunity to manipulate the faithful members of
the church in providing for their own needs? Were false doctrines been taught to blind the faithful?
What has happened to God s grace? James Atkinson, the author of Martin Lutherand the birth of
Protestantism gives us a clear understanding of who Martin Luther was, his mission and his
purposes. No other man in history has ever changed the history of the church like Martin Luther
did. And he is considered as the man who shook the church in the 16th century.
The reason why I chose this book is because the reformation is one of my favorite subject. I
studied it in high school, I preached about it and every single time, I always learn something new
that makes be proud and happy to be the Seventh day Adventist Christian I am today. Martin Luther
is my favorite reformer because he dared to stand against the errors and false teachings of the
Catholic Church even when he was threatened to die. Also, I chose this book because I love
learning about the catholic church and I really enjoy this topic.

Who Is Vlad The Impaler Real
Everyone knows the name of Dracula. The infamous story and name began with the 1897 gothic
horror novel written by Bram Stoker. Whether you have read the book or watched the multiple film
recreations you know, and recognize the plot of Count Dracula s devious intentions. So while many
individuals will enjoy the blood sucking, and curdling films, shows, and novels this Halloween
they probably will be unaware of the true story of Count Dracula. The tale of Dracula didn t
actually instantaneously sprout from the brain of the Irish author I previously mentioned. He was
inspired by a far more sinister plot line... only this one was real, and the main character s name was
Vlad III.
Vlad III, a bloodthirsty soul who was also a medieval prince of Wallachia around the time of 1448
until his death, happened to also be known as DrДѓculea. His other nickname, Vlad the Impaler,
gives you kind of an idea about the type of dude he was. Vlad often terrorized those who he
found to be enemies using exceptional amounts of cruelty. If Vlad the Impaler wanted you dead,
most likely he would choose the sadistic, and fear creation route. By which I mean he would
execute you via impalement. He was in a sense a very great military leader in a sense. He made up
for his lack of men by using psychological warfare, as well as his own vicious creativity. ... Show

Vlad s terror against Mehemet didn t end there. He pulled a trojan horse of sorts by dressing his

Assess The Role Of The Anti Hero In Hannibal
Filled with determination to act upon a self fulfilling goal that benefits the greater good in some
way, the anti hero serves as the protagonist of the story. Though the anti hero may seem to be the
villain they are not, at worst they are delusional but never evil. Often formed from tragedy and
occasionally psychotic the anti herois an important archetype in the area of storytelling.
The anti hero the protagonist with an unjust cause that happens to benefit the greater good. An
anti hero is not a role model or someone to look up to; often they are just the opposite. Rough,
tough, filled with rage, seeking only revenge or other similar disturbed moral justices. However,
through all of this they are the best choice for a victor. An example of... Show more content on

One difference is though Hannibal and Dexter are both serial killers Hannibal kills for the
enjoyment of killing. He kills his victims without care and then cannibalizes them. This serves
only his purposes and there is no greater good that Hannibal is achieving by his actions. This
gives Hannibal the role of the villain, though the audience may become infatuated with him
perhaps because of his charisma or otherwise he is still without a doubt the villain. On the other
hand, Dexter takes great care in selecting his victims. He seeks out those who are deserving of
justice and delivers it in the way the he best knows how. Capturing his victims and forcing them to
face their sins before death. What happens afterward shows one of Dexter s greatest character
flaws. Once his victim expires they are chopped into many small pieces with great care taken in
how the cuts are arranged and then a small trophy is taken in the form of a drop of blood. This is
one of the greatest examples of how flawed a character can be and still be called an anti hero.
While Dexter is preforming this ritual for his own gain he does not kill without reason or
purpose, and that reason, his purpose to kill is to help rid the world of its filth and violent crime.
Taking all of this into account we can plainly see the difference between the villain of the story
and the anti hero archetype. Villains like King Claudius and Hannibal Lecter only seek to serve
themselves and they are not concerned with what and who they must destroy to achieve their goals.
While anti heroes like Hamlet and Dexter will do morally questionable things but they always
whether intentional or not have a greater purpose they will

Video Game Aggression
For years, the media, teachers and various types of scientists have made the topic video games and
the possible influence it has on child and teen aggression. The spark up of the controversy all
started with the 1999 Columbine High School shooting. Since then, most, if not all instances
similar to that have thought to be linked to videogame violence, which in turn has led to numerous
studies about this topic. But be that as it may the link between violent video games and adolescent
aggressionis far from being proven fact, however we cannot jump to the conclusion that violent
video games build adolescent aggression.
As I researched, I saw a strategy that is used by supporters who are against video game violence

terms effects right after the experiment was done, not really showing if violent games make
adolescents more aggressive in the long run (Porter Service, 2007). Another main issue with the
experimental studies are the sample size, which in most cases are small, another is the clarity of
whether a tested game is really violent or not and also uncontrollable variables such as if the
person is actually interested in the game or not (Porter Service, 2007). Looking on a different
perspective, literally, correlations studies, which are the studies used between two variables, in
this case violence and games, normally doesn t have as many problems when it comes to basic
science rules for experimenting, but they can be altered by bias test subjects (Porter Service,

Abstract Electricity is not just an option for passenger cars. Hybrid and all electric technologies
are moving into delivery trucks, garbage trucks, and tractor trailers, as well as into other more out
of sight vehicles, all of which literally help keep our economy moving. For these medium and
heavy duty trucks, the goals of electrification are the same as with cars: reducing pollution, oil
consumption (in trucks, usually diesel fuel), and fuel costs. Expanding the use of electrification
technologies is a key strategy for doubling the fuel efficiency of trucks and for helping to cut our
nation s projected oil consumption in half over the next 20 years. In
2010, freight hauling trucks consumed 2.3 million barrels of oil per day more than we currently
import from the Persian Gulf and emitted 348 million metric tons of carbon dioxide.

Political Majority and Federal Spending Essay
Abstract
This paper addresses the following question: what determines government spending in the United
States. In short, I believe real government spending to be a function of partisan political control.
Specifically, I hypothesizes that a majority congressional representation by either the Democrats or
the Republicans does not affect the level real federal government spending. In other words,
government spending does not increase due to a Democrat majority or decline due to a Republican
majority.
Introduction
Every two years on the first Tuesday in November, Americans across the country vote on who will
represent them in the Federal government. Thusly, they indirectly shape the future of the United
States. Since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If partisan control of congress is a determinant of real spending, a plethora of new questions shall
arise. In addition, if a Democrat majority results in a decline of spending, then academics and
draw inferences about the budget, and therefore the deficit, the day after elections. Ceteris
paribus, academics would be more likely to predict overall government spending. In other words,
Keynesian economists would predict a less drastic economic downturn if Democrats have majority
control during stagnate growth. Specifically, I wish to determine the following. First, is
congressional control a determinant of federal spending? Next, does the same hold true for federal
defense and non defense spending? Finally, does a specific party majority foreshadow a specific
effect on spending? Alternatively, does a Democrat majority predict an increase in spending?
In the next section, I will review and discuss the implications of prior research. Then, I will detail
my methodology and results. Finally, I will discuss my finding and draw conclusions. The end of
the paper cites references and includes any appendices vital to the understanding of the paper.
Literature Review
Based upon my research, there are two primary motives for legislators to spend: (1) to stimulate
the economy and (2) to benefit their represented district, thereby increasing the likelihood of
reelection. In this section, I will briefly discuss the former. I will cover the latter in

Eudoxus Major Accomplishments
Eudoxus of Cnidus, born in 408 B.C. and died 355 B.C in Cnidus, Asia Minor, was well known for
his multitude of great achievements; both in astronomy and mathematics. However, focusing on his
mathematical accomplishments, Eudoxus has made a significant mark in history due to his
numerous contributions to mathematics. Working along with many famous philosophers and
mathematicians such as Archytas, Philiston, and Plato, Eudoxus was able to broaden his
knowledge and thus help lead modern day mathematicians to a greater comprehension of the
universe.
Eudoxus, son of Aeschines, as a young man traveled throughout Greece and Egypt with the hopes
of expanding his intellect of the world. One of his first voyages consisted of a journey to Tarentum.

irrational numbers began to appear; making it hard to ignore the fact that not all phenomenon is
reducible to whole numbers or their ratios. For this reason, the Greeks quickly realized that a
solution to irrational numbers was imperative. Fortunately, Eudoxus was able to present a new
theory of proportions which did not involve numbers. Instead, he studied geometrical objects such
as line segments, angles, etc., whiling avoiding giving numerical values to lengths of line segments,
sizes of angles, and other magnitudes. (Lecture 8. Eudoxus, Avoided a Fundamental Conflict) By

Is Loki Of The Most Dominant Characteristics Of An Entire...
One of the most dominant characteristics in any villain is a craving for destruction, whether it is
the annihilation of a specific hero or of an entire world. Occasionally, however, the heel possesses
a quality that contradicts this nefarious tendency. Rarely does a story include an evildoer whose
actions end up benefitting those around him. This doer of good and... doer of evil ( Far Away and
Long Ago 1) is Lokiof Norse mythology. While some of Loki s actions qualify as heinous, many of
those who read of his misgivings are too quick to criticize the undervalued deity. This harsh
judgment has spun into a popular culture that paints a misconstrued image of Loki in film.
Although interpreted by modern media as inherently evil, the Norse god Loki is simply a
misunderstood mischief maker who helps on his own accord, corrects his misdeeds, and ultimately
causes the dawn of modern man.
Before digging into his misdeeds, noting Loki s pure benevolence is essential. Atop a mountain,
the gods built the city Asgard, a great City... that the Giants could never overthrow (Colum 6). As
they built their great city, the gods were approached by a giant. Although the giant could not help
build the halls or palaces of Asgard, [he could] build great walls that [could] never be overthrown

without reward. Odin, the Father of the Gods, asks the giant what payment he desires, believing

The Technique Of Energy Harvesting From Radio Signals
1.Introduction:
The technique of energy harvesting from radio signals has received much attention in various
applications in the recent time, such as radio frequency identification systems [1] and body
sensor networks with medical implants [2]. According to the 2010 wireless smart phone customer
satisfaction study from J. D. Power and Associates, the iPhone received top marks in every
category except for battery life. The latest report in China also reflects the same problem. Based
on the data, up to 60% of the users complained that battery endurance was the greatest hurdle when
using 3G services. (Daquan Feng, 2013) In recent year, a new concept of energy harvesting from

channels at different frequencies. OFDM is used in applications such as digital television and audio
broadcasting, DSL Internet access, wireless networks, 3G and 4G mobile communications. (Yair,

The Effects Of Brain Trauma On The Brain
Brain trauma occurs when an external force causes injury to the brain. It s classified in a variety of
different classes based on the severity of the injury, mechanisms: closed or penetrating head injury,
and location of injury. However, in many cases of brain trauma the damage is traumatic, affecting
the brain, physical capabilities, mental fortitude, personality, and behavior. In addition to the
impairment of abilities and behavior after the trauma, the journey to recovery is long and hard.
F.K a victim of brain trauma experienced the long journey of recovery that resulted from his

What Is The Meaning Or Purpose Of Human Life

Week 5 Assignment 2
Theresa Coty O Neil
What is the meaning or purpose of human life? All life on earth must undergo the replication
process of evolution. Humans purpose is the one he/she chooses for themselves. Individuals are
responsible for their own existence. However, the conditions of human existence have been the
same throughout history, we re born, work to survive, and die. How Gregor lived his human life
was a result for his metamorphosis and eventually his death. According, to the article
Metamorphosis, by Stephen H. Balch, Humanity has profound decisions to make, some to be taken
collectively, others individually. They ll be better made to the extent we give the coming generation
an understanding of what brought them to their metamorphic moment. Franz Kafka, The
Metamorphosis, is a tale of Gregor transformation from a human into an insect. Gregor was a
simple man and lived an ordinary life. He devoted his life to his work and providing for his family.
He became burden with supporting his family, dissatisfied with his job and alienated from his
family which slowly cause his dehumanization.
Gregor transformation first began when he had to change roles with his father. In most families,
parents are expected to be the leaders and financial provider while children are expected to live
by their parent s rules. To achieve this, each member of the family must be aware of their duties
and responsibilities. If we re to understand ourselves as members of an interconnected human
family, we must understand the developments within western civilization that made such a
universal community conceivable. (Balch 2012) Gregor transformed from a child into an adult
and his father s debt became his responsibility. He became the breadwinner and the pressure of
providing a comfortable lifestyle for his family weighed heavy on his shoulders. Normally, the
mother would nurturer the family and comfort their children. Gregor s sister took on the role of
his caregiver during his metamorphosis. Gregor cared for his family deeply. Instead of freaking
out, that overnight he turned into an insect, he struggled with getting out of bed so he won t miss

within the former Orsay railway station. Between 1900 through to 1939 it was known as the Gare

In 1975, the Direction des MusГ©es de France had considered installing a new museum within the

Hence, section 84 does not discriminate de jure. Nevertheless, there might be de facto
discrimination in practices (in granting compulsory licenses, not in granting patents) due to the
fact that most of the patentees are foreigners in a developing country. However, neither de jure
discrimination nor de facto discrimination exists in making patents available to foreigners.
Arguably, it would be de facto discriminatory to nationals in developing countries. Most important
of all, scholars also concur on the opinion that technology specific differentiations can be
justifiable, not per se impermissible under TRIPS. The Canada Pharmaceutical Patents panel did
not intend to provide a rigid rule to determine what constitutes a legitimate reason to impose a
differential treatment. The IPA did not appear to apply the local working requirement only to the
pharmaceutical sector. Previously, Brazil introduced a local working provision (article 68) in its
Industrial Property Law and the US filed a complaint before the WTO dispute settlement body in
2001. Nonetheless, the U.S. agreed with non discrimination of article 68 of Brazil s Industrial
Property Law, but argued that it is a protectionist measure, intending to create jobs domestically
extensively though out all technology fields. These considerations regarding articles 7 and 8 of the
TRIPS Agreement would be discussed in

The Pros And Cons Of Roe V. Wade
In 1971 Jane Roe attempted to have an abortion, but was opposed by Henry Wade, the District
Attorney of Dallas who was determined to enforce the Texas law that made abortion, unless
medically necessary, illegal. The conflict only grew in strength and publicity until it landed at the
Supreme Court in the now legendary case of Roe v. Wade. When the legal battle was over, women
were granted the right to abortionin the second trimester, a right that continues to cause conflict
40 years later. The case ran from 1971 1973 and it got a heated debate started across the United
States. The topic of abortion had always been debated heavily but Roe v. Wade sparked a wave
of protests and new opinions. The argument over abortion prior to Roe v. Wade is similar to
what it is today; there are those who support abortion (pro choice) and those who don t (pro life).
Of course each has its exceptions to what is viewed as acceptable. Many supported abortion
because women went to extremely dangerous lengths to terminate their pregnancies. ВЁIn 1965,
illegal abortions made up one sixth of all pregnancy and childbirth related deathsВЁ, (Planned
Parenthood; Roe v. Wade). Many religious leaders and figures were anti abortion because of their
beliefs, ВЁDoe v. Bolton [410 U.S. 179 (1973)] , the Supreme Court ruled that the unborn child is
not a ВЁpersonВЁ at any time before birth...ВЁ (The Catholic Advance; A Non Person).

Personal Privacy in the Information Age
Professor Kiehn English 302 3 October 2013 Personal Privacy in the Information Age Some of the
most contentious and recurrent argumentative dialogues regarding civil liberties stem from what
seems at face value, like a relatively elementary idea the notion of personal privacy. This debate
could never be more relevant than in present day society, where globalization and advanced
communications technologies have synergized to form a ubiquitous digital library of shared
information. The specific example of the delicate balance between personal privacyand national
security here in the United States has only further convoluted the issue the debate of whether and to
what caliber citizens have privacy rights is hotly contested. As technology... Show more content on

Approximately 6 in 10 individuals disapproved of the governments collection of U.S. citizens phone
records however around 75 of those polled agreed it was admissible to track the phone records of
citizens suspected of terrorist activity. In a poll conducted in April, shortly after the Boston
Marathon bombings, results showed only 20 of individuals believed the government had exceeded
the balance of intrusion and privacy, with 26 saying they hadnt done enough to maintain national
security, and approximately 44 saying their was an adequate balance. Furthermore, approximately 6
in 10 individuals were not particularly concerned with government collection of their phone records
and internet monitoring, with the other 4 being somewhat or very concerned (Kopicki). The results
from these polls suggest American opinion on the matter is correlated more to occurrence of
perceived terrorist threats, less so than concerns of personal privacy there is a new attitudinal
awareness, and perhaps reluctant acceptance, of the omnipresence of electronic surveillance.
Claiming an inherent right to privacy regarding electronic communications through constitutional

The Greatest Causes Of The Scientific Revolution
The scientific revolution was a period of time where there was many improvements of life,
technology and understanding of the world around us. People began to realize that nothing was
being achieved when religion was the only answer to anything and realised that you can have a
good life before death. This resulted in a new lifestyle for civilians and a happier life. The fight for
who was the cause of the greatest effect of the Scientific Revolutionis an ongoing debate. Today I
will be breaking down many people who put their foot forwards in a time of need and seeing
who was the greatest. They will be put into a bracket starting with eight people on each side and
within four tiers of battles (tier one being the first round of battles and tier four being the
championship or fight for who had the biggest impact on The Scientific Revolution) there will be
announced a winner. In the first clash of philosophers in the first tier we have Francis Bacon
versus Robert Boyle. These two were matched together because of their involvement in early
science. Francis Bacon was the developer of the Scientific Method, which is one of the most
commonly used ways to figure anything out. Robert Boyle helped advance some things, but my
verdict is that overall Francis Bacon was more successful in long term advancements so he wins.
The next matchup of the first tier is Robert Hooke versus Joseph Priestly. They were matched
together because of their significance of their discoveries, and how they

Figurative Language In The Chocolate War By Robert Cormier
In the novel The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, the characters are over exaggerated, to state a
clear point that this is not a normal story. The story does not follow a regular story line, but one
that Robert Cormier decides is fit in his mind and he over exaggerates it aswell for an effect to state
his point that, not every time you disturb the universe something good comes out.
Robert Cormier wanted the characters be different, he did not make them how others wanted,
being socially acceptable, he wrote the book how he thought it should have went in his mind,
and doing so he gave the readers some new to read not just the everyday novel. Cormier gives the
reader many examples of figurative language to express the real meaning of the story for
example, Caroni watched the chalk in Brother Leon s hands, the way the teacher pressed it,
rolled it, his fingers like the legs of spiders with a victim in their clutch. (90) In this quote
Cormier gives a similar to exaggerate about how Brother Leon was holding the chalk in his
hands. It sends a powerful message to the reader that Brother Leon is a horrible man, who had
no mercy and he is seen by others as a powerful administrator in the school using quid pro quo in
his own evil type of way. Cormier also uses more figurative language to give a specific emotion
that Cormier was trying to express throughout his novel, that not every time someone disturbs the
universe something good comes out of it. What happened with Renault was bad enough, but
there was violence in the air. (209) This quote is the the example that even though Renault did
disturb the universe and did try to stop the chocolate sale, he failed and something bad happened
to him for trying. In the end Jerry s attempts to stop the chocolate sales failed, and still there was
still violence in the air meaning the enemy he tried to defeat was angry, but still undefeated. And
many readers dislike Cormiers way to end the book in a way that the hero does not defeat the
villain(s). Like Richard Peck said The young will understand the outcome. They won t like it but
they ll understand. (10) And this is exactly what Cormier had in mind when he was writing the
book, that the readers wouldn t like the ending, but

NFL racism prospers. For instance the Washington Redskins of the National Football League.
Native Americans are trying to say the NFL is being rude for naming a Team Redskins. The
Redskins have had that name since 1933 (Staff). The team had the name of Braves before they
adopted the name Redskins. It was changed due to racismpurposes. Some people would agree that
the whole situation with Redskins is ridiculous because The Major League Baseball series has two
teams related to Native Americans, The Atlanta Braves and The Cleveland Indians. The NFL also

How much money can I get? Does it even matter if anyone but me has money? Americans as a
whole are selfish. Some aren t but as a whole yes. As Americans people need to slow down on
saying something is racist because who knows it may actually not be racist. Most people thinks
when someone is being racist its just toward African Americans when really, they aren t the only
ones being discriminated against. Its any race with the exception of white people. White people are
often referred to as the dominate race. Often Times people find themselves thinking all the
discrimination is directed toward the African Americans. However, they aren t the only ones being

Native Americans are also being discriminated also. There are many ways to discriminate people.
Name calling is one, another is drawing, and another is acting. Those two, drawing and acting
are not usually the offense. Its usually in the form of name calling. (Whitlock) There s a lot of
terms you can use to be racist. A lot of sick people have came up with names to call different
races. Names so bad that they can not be used in this paper. Racism is very wrong. People are all
equal no matter what color they are. No one should be laughed at or tortured or even made fun of
for being a different color. God made everyone the same. The only differences are color, actions,
looks, and personality. Everyone is a beautiful creation

Screaming and cheering on a Friday night coming from the stands is the best thing to hear as a

and showing everyone their moves. Before all the excitement happens cheerleaders have to attend
so many practices and perfect everything they know. To make all the moves perfect is one of the
hardest thing to do. Cheerleaders get out there on a Friday night and sweat and work their butts of

are clinics to get fit. Cheerleaders have to get fit and able to move very fast without running out

Euphemism In Communication
My intent of this essay is to describe the six major barriers that impact of influence effective
business communications. Actually, those barriers are more likely to be known as clichГ©, jargon,
slang, sexist and racist language, euphemisms and doublespeak, which may alter the interpretation
of messages as well as subject of relevance, and therefore create sometime a lack of attention and
unneeded contradiction among commutators.
What is ClichГ©? According to Random House Dictionary, ClichГ© is: a trite,
stereotyped expression; a sentence or phrase, usually expressing a popular or common
thought or idea, that has lost originality, ingenuity, and impact by long overuse, as

words that they always use in IT . I usually use it and as a result, No one understands

To conclude, when we use any of those aforementioned barriers in communication and especially in

tool pusher Wyman Wheeler, who did not believe explanations received. Another negative test
performed and during the new negative test, the pressure came down on a different pipe and not
for the drill pipe and the crew moved on with the rest of the process. According to BP, tool pusher
Jason Anderson justifies the anomalous reading as the bladder effect and had been seen this

from the drill pipe. The drilling crew prepared for the cement plug top of the oil well by reopening
the blowout preventer and pumping seawater down the drill pipe to displace the mud and spacer

A Research Study On Hunger Free Colorado
Introduction This study constitutes an attempt to induce higher income households to donate a
greater percentage of their disposable income to charitable causes. The way in which it seeks to
achieve this goal is through the administration of an online survey whose primary intent is the
elicitation of dissonant processes, which may serve to enhance the subjective valuation about
the charity, Hunger Free Colorado. According to their website: Hunger Free Colorado leads
efforts to connect families and individuals to food and nutrition resources, and to create positive
changes in systems, policies and social views, so no Coloradan goes hungry. By working at the
federal, state and county levels, we streamline business processes and adopt best practices that
will help alleviate hunger throughout the state. Considering the following statistics, it is clear
why Hunger Free Colorado s work is so important: Nearly 1 in 7 Coloradans struggled with
hunger in 2013, facing times when there was not enough money to buy food for their families or
themselves (Colman Jenson, Gregory, Singh, 2013). More than 1 in 5 Colorado households with
children (22%) reported food hardship, facing financial challenges to put food on the table (Food

Art Is An Important Part Of Education
What is art? Is it just painting or can it be a number of creations, such as, music, dancing, theater,
pictures, sculptures, poems, stories, or videos. When I think of art, I think of all of these different
creations listed as art. Art is anything that can inspire a person, or create feelings from looking,
touching, or hearing. The definition of art is the expression or application of human creative skill
and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be
appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power (google.com). Art is a way for humans to
communicate what they feel in their hearts. Although, some people may not agree that art is an
important part of educationwithout it education could have been lost today. In the past ten years
that I know of, art has slowly been fading away in the educational environment. This can be any
subject from: theater, dance, band, and even just art classes in general. Our education has slowly
started to only focus on core academic classes. While some people in our education system may
not perceive this as a true fact; there is evidence to support that art has declined in public
education. For theater and dance in elementary schools, the percentages of schools making these
art forms available went from 20 percent 10 years ago to only 4 and 3 percent, respectively, in the
2009 10 schoolyear. In addition, at more than 40 percent of secondary schools, coursework in the

Polar Bear Endangerment
Endangered species can change a habitat due to their role in the environment. The EPA helps
protect these endangered species with the help of National and State Parks in the United States.
Each endangered species has different factors of why it is becoming endangered. Endangered
species are sometimes caused by their loss of habitat. Reasons for the endangerment of a species
can vary greatly from their loss of habitat to high genetic vulnerability to invasive species. Rapid
climate change contributes to the endangerment of many arctic wildlife. The Endangered Species
Act and the Endangered Protection Agency protects endangered and threatened species.
Polar Bears(Ursus maritimus) are going extinct due to loss of their habitat. Polar Bears live on
sea ice in the Atlantic Ocean. Due to warmer climates, the ice is becoming harder to find for
these Polar Bears. Polar Bears were listed as an endangered species in 2008 by the Endangered
Species Act (7). Global warming is the cause of Polar Bear endangerment, and their genetic code
is not able to evolve fast enough to cope with the changing environment. If fossil fuels were not
being burned, then the Earth would be cooler (7). Many arctic wildlife is affected by the climate
change such as the tiger (Panthera tigris), the Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus), and the Pacific Walrus
(Odbenus rosmarus divergens).
Forty two percent of endangered species are caused by an invasive species (3). Endangered species

Dangers Of Apathy By Merriam Webster
Dangers of Apathy Merriam Webster defines the word apathy as a lack of feeling, emotion,
interest, or concern. The FY16 Chief Petty Officer Selects, however, feel that there is more to
this word. Pure apathy is the personal choice of removing any and all shred of interest or
concern to a particular person, place, or thing. This individual choice can be depicted in a
variety of ways. One of these ways is doing just enough to get by, or flying under the RADAR, as
some may put it. This type of behavior can be extremely dangerous for many reasons, one of the
biggest reasons is that it could lead to someone losing their life. For instance, the job of a

Even worse, the occurrence of death, or the likelihood thereof, is of no importance to someone
with this level of apathy. They allow the sickness of apathy to guide their lives. The choice to
care, or not care, remains in their hands. However, they are blinded by the despair that they
either cannot see they have the choice to change their view, or they just do not care. As stated
above, apathy can help motivate some people. In fact, the Greeks had an entirely different idea
behind the word apathy. In the original Greek word, apatheia was defined as the insensibility to
pain or suffering. The Greeks had an idea that one should push through and even ignore pain. In
this way of thinking, the Greeks believed being they could be objective or impartial due to non
suffering. When properly reflected upon, apathy can, in fact, inspire a person to push past the
fear of pain or failure. It is important to understand that failure will happen, yet when it does we
must bounce back, learn from our mistakes, and press on. We cannot hide from failure, it will
come regardless, or we will grow apathetic to the situation. If we truly have an interest in the goal,
then it is imperative to stand up and face what may happen. While it may hurt, and may even in
fact frighten us, we must push forward. We must not concern ourselves with the pain, the fear, and
the failure and focus on the goal. We may learn from all of these.

Postmortem Interval Estimation
Abstract Postmortem interval estimation is very important in a suspicious death investigation.
Myoglobin is a hemoprotein present in striated muscles of living body. After death, myoglobin is
exuded from muscles to blood, tissues and organs. So, the aim of this study was to estimate
postmortem interval from myoglobin concentrations in glandular tissues. This study was done on
rats to detect the postmortem concentration of myoglobin in pituitary, parotid and adrenal glands at
different time intervals. There was a significant correlation between myoglobin concentration in
glandular tissues and postmortem interval. By multiple stepwise linear regression analysis, the
most predictable model was the combination between pituitary, adrenal and parotid myoglobin
concentrations (R2= 0.992). The second predictable model was the combination between adrenal
and pituitary myoglobin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

be the most dramatic character of The Glass Menagerie. Amanda s part in this particular play is
that of an expressive mother who has been brought into the real world by the digressing
economy, and new world form. Life as she knew it changed in a powerful way. In Tennessee
William s The Glass Menagerie, Amanda Wingfield is a caring mother who desperately tries to
create a perfect world within her not so perfect circumstances. Amanda s yearning to have a
perfect world gives way to her constant effort to create one. With her metal curlers and... very old
bathrobe, Amanda Wingfield tries to be as fabulous as possible in her tattered, broken world....

Amanda, like any mother, wants Laura to be happy. She goes as far as to have Tom invite a
gentleman caller over to meet Laura. When Laura says that there would be no gentleman callers,
Amanda tries to create a sense of optimism by replying Not one gentleman caller? It can t be
true! There must be a flood, there must have been a tornado! The audience can see that Amanda
is desperately trying to keep her daughter in high hopes. In another case, Amanda also shows she
cares for Tom, her son. Though Amanda fears that he will turn out like his father, she tries to
make connections with him. I know your ambitions do not lie in the warehouse, that like
everybody in the whole wide world you ve had to make sacrifices... There s so many things in my
heart that I cannot describe to you. Even as Amanda nags her children, she loves them
unconditionally. In her attempt to create a perfect world, she never forgets to care for her children.
Amanda is a caring mother who tries to create the perfect world among her imperfect circumstances.
Sometimes viewed as paranoid, Amanda tries to control the surroundings that she is able to. She
has not had much control of her situation, which leads to her pushy, dramatic personality. Critics
view Amanda as harsh but necessary. In the simplest terms, Amanda is no more than a Southern
Belle whose life took a turn towards reality. She struggles to make fantasy out of

Connectivity And Related Survivability Issues Of Wsns
In the previous section, we mainly focus on the connectivity and related survivability issues of
WSNs. It is the foundation that we deploy WSNs to achieve its main objective which is to
monitor the field of interest / detect desired data and it is coverage that determines whether the
field of interest is under strict surveillance or not. So, in this section, we will summarize the
related work on integrated connectivity and coverage problem in WSN. In [68], [69], it s clear that
connectivity only requires that the location of any active node be within the communication range
of one or more active nodes such that all active nodes can form a connected communication
backbone, while coverage requires all locations in the coverage region be... Show more content on

The objective of the research efforts on relationship between coverage and connectivity is to utilize
the minimum number of sensor nodes to achieve required coverage degree while maintaining
desired system connectivity.
In the following parts of this section, we will firstly summarize the related work on analyzing the
relationship between the sensing range Rs and communication range Rc. Then, we demonstrate the
research efforts on finding critical conditions for achieving connectivity and coverage. Finally, we
survey the approaches on connectivity and coverage in WSNs.
Critical condition for 1 coverage to achieve 1 connectivity:
In [68], [69], authors first time proved the sufficient condition for 1 coverage imply to 1
connectivity: for a set of sensors that at least 1 cover a convex region A, the communication graph is
connected if Rc≥ 2Rs . Based on this result, when we design a WSN system, we can focus on
node deployment strategy and elimiate the connectivity problem by assuming the Rc≥ 2Rs.
Zhang and Hou in [70] present a distributed Optimal Geographical Density Control (OGDC)
scheme that considers the integrated combine coverage and connectivity problem. The objective of
this work is to minimize the number of active nodes in the WSN. Similar to [68], [69], the authors
also proved that coverage implies connectivity when Rc≥ 2Rs. In OGDC, the nodes can

This leads to the basic differentiation between wealth maximization and profit maximization
approach. There are several arguments of why getting as much profit as possible will not ensure the
firm s viability in the long term. In contrast to wealth maximization, the profit maximization holds
on to the following views in term of:
1.Time Horizons. It focuses on short term benefits and tries to gain as much profit as possible
regardless of the long term effects.
2.Timing of Returns. It does not consider the timing of returns and thus time value of money.
3.Distributions of Income. It tends to ignore the owners wish to receive a portion of earnings in the
form of dividends.
4.Risk. It gives less consideration to risk in an attempt to maximize profits, as higher risks will
associate with higher return.
Other goals of the firm are essential to be stated to avoid any misunderstanding. In order to achieve
wealth maximization, the following goals are essentials:
1.Maximization of profits. To make profits is essential to provide stability and growth in operations
and rewards to individuals and institutions that contribute to the firm. It is essential, however to
consider the above constraints and the risk of making a decision that is higher risk relates to higher
return.
2.Maximization of

Female Genital Mutilation Analysis
The article, Female Genital Mutilation Is a Canadian Issue Too, explores how the act of Female
Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a social justice issues beyond the foreign nations it is associated
with. While FGM is associated with countries in Africa and the Middle East where it is seen as
the norm, we see cases in our modern and progressive nation. The article first defines FGM as
girls being forced to have some or all of their external genitalia cut off and, in some cases, having
their vaginal opening sown closed. This may be performed on girls anytime from infancy to
puberty and can result in multiple life threatening health complications. The article goes on to
explain how the act is deeply rooted in different cultures but is also experienced... Show more

Yes, the article speaks to how FGM is enacted across the world but it does not speak to efforts
made internationally to end this widespread issue. Briefly, the role of the United Nations is
mentioned as In December the UN unanimously passed a resolution banning the practice
(Kielburger). Beyond this one line, there is no mention of international development of the
attempted ending of FGM. I understand this article was written by two Canadians on the Canada
specific section of the publication but I would have appreciated a little more global awareness.
How are other developed nations such as the United States or United Nations dealing with this
issue? What are more specific plans made by international organizations like the UN doing to
follow their general statements? I also understand that this article was written in 2013 and we now
have more context and information on this issue but I still wanted more depth from the article.
Perhaps, a follow up style article would be appropriate to see how the matter has

Should Video Games Be Considered A Sport Essay
Should videogames be considered a sport?
With the advancement in technology and the growing gaming world, Esports are growing rapidly,
the competition is getting tougher in tournaments, and millions are tuning in to watch. Some
people says that the video games shouldn t or will never be a Sport, but the thing that they don t
know is that is slowly becoming one with no one noticing it. The Sports are all forms of usually
competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or organized participation, aim to use,
maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing entertainment to participants, and in
some cases, spectators. (3) , just like chess, is considered a sport, but is not using the physical

there s something call PC GAMER, that are specially sated computers with huge power to run any
game or thing. Most of the tournaments games are played on PC GAMERS, the only games that
a pc is not required for the tournament is COD (Call of Duty), then League of legends, Dota2,
StarCraft 2 and CSGO (Counter Strike Global Offense) are played on PC, but the tournaments
provides the PC for you to avoid hacking or cheating. Tournaments such as the international, the
League of Legends World Championship, The Battle.net World Championship, the Evolution
Championship Series, and the Intel Extreme Masters, provide both live broadcasts of the
competition, and a prize money and salaries to competitors. (10). There s a lot of game
tournaments but those are the most watched ones, one example is league of legends, in 2013 the
word championships had a 32M of viewers watching the championship. I had saw the 2014 and
2015 League of legends championships and in my opinion, is something worth to watch. The
popularity and Emergence of online streaming services have helped the growth of Esports in this
period, and are the most common method of watching tournaments. (10). When a championships
happens people can go buy tickets to go watch the tournament live, but for the people that cannot

Compare And Contrast The Mexian Revolution And French...
A revolution is a rebellion of the government with force in favor of a new and better form of
government. During the French Revolution, King Louis XVI and his wife, Queen Antoinette, were
heavily indebted from spending their money recklessly, which led to high taxes for peasants. In
result, the peasants overthrew King Louis XVI from his position. During the Mexican Revolution,
Porfirio Diaz became a dictator that limited one s freedom and the imbalance of social classes.
Likewise, the leaders removed Porfirio from his position, but it created a bigger problem. People
started backstabbing each other to take over the leadership of Mexico. The French Revolutionwas
similar to the Mexican Revolution because both nations went through harsh conditions to establish
a better government, both of their governments abused their power, and both achieved human rights
in many ways.
The Mexican Revolution was similar from the French Revolution because they both went through
a phase of peasants in poverty and being treated harshly, wanting a change. According to an
excerpt by Francisco Madero in November 20, 1910, it states, The oppressive government has
gotten bad. We cannot accept it anymore... I need to put myself in front of my fellow citizens.
People have placed their confidence in me. (Doc. 1) This evidence shows that both revolutions
started because of the unfair laws in the nation placed by the government. They wanted to revolt
because they wished for a nation with freedom and rights. This evidence proved that both
revolutions had the willpower to fight back for what they want. The French Revolution was at war
in their nation, where many men and women fought for their own individual rights and not
depending on other to fight for them. Additionally, in a excerpt by John Reed in June 1914, it
states, They are fighting because they want something that they can get no other way. The peasants
are sick of war. They do not enjoy starvation, thirst, cold, nakedness, and wounds. This has been
happening for 3 years. (Doc. 2) This quote demonstrates that peasants fought for freedom, and they
were sick of being poor. They wanted a positive change in their life that would benefit them by
revolting the government. This quotes

`` Thought, By Louis H. Sullivan
In his essay, Thought, Louis H. Sullivan illustrates the importance of real thinking and creative
thinking. He asserts that words are not really necessary to use to express our thoughts. He presents
other wordless forms of communication to translate our thoughts into loud expressions. Music,
painting, images and other wordless forms are the solution the author suggest, as better forms of
communication. Real thinking is better done without words Sullivan argues. Words cut off the
inspiration of creative thinking, and disturbs the imagination when someone tries to translate their
thoughts into spoken language. According to the author, images are the best way to translate our
creative thoughts without the interruption of finding the perfect word to describe an idea. Sullivan
attempts to persuade his audience to avoid reading because it deprives them from real thinking:
asserting that it must be only done in the present. He discusses that writing is a slow process: many
thoughts dissipates as one struggles to put their thoughts into words. Another point that Sullivan
argues is that one should only think in the present, and focus in the present alone because the
present is the only thing that matters. Sullivan explains, You cannot think in the past, you can only
think of the past... you cannot think in the future, you can only think of the future ... One is dead
and the other is yet to be born. The author argues that it is not good idea to expand our imagination
onward and

Leading Change. Since then, Kotter s 8 Step Change Model has become the definitive tool for
leaders wanting to effectively introduce new ideas and innovations into their business model.
Change management within an organization can be difficult, many employees will be reluctant or
outright belligerent towards any change to their status quo. Kotter s technique aims to transform a
controversial or radial change, into a positive outcome for employees and employers. The 8 Step
Change Model involves:
1.Creating urgency
2.Forming a powerful coalition
3.Create a vision for change
4.Communicate a vision
5.Remove obstacles

The Cultural Impact Of Technology
The world today is very different from the world our grandparents lived in. There are a lot of
advancements in technology that make things obviously different, but there are also many changes
in our culture and society that has been affected by technological changes that many people fail to
realize. One film that showcases the cultural impact of technology is the movie Hackers, directed
by Lain Softley. The film is centered around the latest technology available (in 1995 when the film
was released) and the growing culture centered around the elite hackercommunity. The premise of
the film is that a group of hackers are being framed for a virus that was launched to capsize ships
if a demand for five million dollars was not met. The group of hackers work together to prove that
they are innocent by hacking into the database of a major corporation. In that database is the virus
that was created by the company s head of cyber securitythat was supposed to steal a total of
twenty five million dollars. The ships that were to be destroyed were all linked through satellite
connections. Each ship is automatically guided and managed by a central computer. While it is
commonplace for companies today to use satellite guidance systems and remote access to onboard
computers, the movie does nudge the story along by making the whole system extremely
vulnerable. Such things like three character passwords and single centralized command centers are
obvious flaws with the system used in the

Retrospective Analysis Of Personality And Personality
Retrospective Analysis of Personality Alberto Villa PSY105: Into To Psychology Professor Dr.
Colette Jacquot 9/5/16 Retrospective Analysis of Personality Personality is a blend of genetics,
upbringings, and life experiences that makes a person unique. This essay will take a look at my
life experiences and describe the changes and constants of my personality. I will also discuss
how nurture and nature has an impact on personality traits. Also, there will be identification of
biases and comparing my retrospection with the scientific method. The different traits of my
personality based on culture have not changed but, my own personal standard and ethics have
been modified over time. Culture stems from the ethnic background do not tend to change
because, multiple influences and likes come from culture. For example, I enjoy eating food with
tortillas rather than bread, this is because of my upbringing, the Hispanic culture normally uses
tortillas with almost every plate. Also, I inherited different personality traits from my parents,
my father he is very good at speaking to a large amount of people and tends to be very
influential. I enjoy talking, whether it is a simple conversation to presenting a business
proposition at work, and I feel comfortable. I can say that this is one of the traits that has not
changed regardless of how much time lapses. In the other hand, my mother she is a very hard
working woman, when growing up she had two jobs and was there for my

Mycenaeans contributed to this time through Greek culture and the growing power of monarchies. A civilization called the Minoans the Bronze Age focused on trade and the quality of what they were trading. If the trade was better than the goods were made better. The age that came after bronzewas iron. The Iron Agewas a period when things were starting to be made out of iron. Iron was much stronger than bronze so that made it more valuable and wanted. • 3. Lab Report On Ultrasound Treatment Ultrasound treatment was done according to method by [21] with some modifications. Ultrasonic probe (JY92 IIN, Ningbo Scientz Biotechnology Co. Ltd, Ningbo, China) was used, with maximum power 1000Watt, frequency 25 kHz and probe diameter of 13mm. Pectin solutions were treated at 60% duty cycles, sonication times was fixed at 20 minutes, sonication power (200 and 400 watts). Effect of acidity on sonication was determined at pH2, 4 and 6, by adjusting solution pH using acetic acid. Native pectin 0.25g was put in 250ml beaker suspended in 100ml deionized water to achieve low viscosity, it was stirred on a magnetic stirrer for 30 minutes, and sonic treatment was done by immersing sonic probe up to 1cm deep in the solution. After treatment, the suspension was precipitated with equal volume of 95%v/v ethanolto precipitate pectin. The content was centrifuged at 7500xg and filtrate removed. the precipitate was left in fume cupboard to remove ethanol traces then re dissolved in deionized water and frozen at 45бґјC and eventually freeze dried for further analysis. Ultrasound intensity was predicted according to the following equation I=P/(ПЂr^2 ) Where I= intensity, r =radius of the sonic probe and P= ultrasonic power. 4.2.5. • 4. Martin Luther And The Birth Of Protestantism Throughout the ages, especially in the middle Ages, the Catholic Church had always been a very powerful institution in the world. Its wealth, its political power, its splendid and stunning decorations have always encouraged people to be part of this community of believers. The unique spiritual concern of Catholics around that time was to know how to have access to the kingdom of heaven. But however, did church leaders use this opportunity to manipulate the faithful members of the church in providing for their own needs? Were false doctrines been taught to blind the faithful? What has happened to God s grace? James Atkinson, the author of Martin Lutherand the birth of Protestantism gives us a clear understanding of who Martin Luther was, his mission and his purposes. No other man in history has ever changed the history of the church like Martin Luther did. And he is considered as the man who shook the church in the 16th century. The reason why I chose this book is because the reformation is one of my favorite subject. I studied it in high school, I preached about it and every single time, I always learn something new that makes be proud and happy to be the Seventh day Adventist Christian I am today. Martin Luther is my favorite reformer because he dared to stand against the errors and false teachings of the Catholic Church even when he was threatened to die. Also, I chose this book because I love learning about the catholic church and I really enjoy this topic. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Who Is Vlad The Impaler Real Everyone knows the name of Dracula. The infamous story and name began with the 1897 gothic horror novel written by Bram Stoker. Whether you have read the book or watched the multiple film recreations you know, and recognize the plot of Count Dracula s devious intentions. So while many individuals will enjoy the blood sucking, and curdling films, shows, and novels this Halloween they probably will be unaware of the true story of Count Dracula. The tale of Dracula didn t actually instantaneously sprout from the brain of the Irish author I previously mentioned. He was inspired by a far more sinister plot line... only this one was real, and the main character s name was Vlad III. Vlad III, a bloodthirsty soul who was also a medieval prince of Wallachia around the time of 1448 until his death, happened to also be known as DrДѓculea. His other nickname, Vlad the Impaler, gives you kind of an idea about the type of dude he was. Vlad often terrorized those who he found to be enemies using exceptional amounts of cruelty. If Vlad the Impaler wanted you dead, most likely he would choose the sadistic, and fear creation route. By which I mean he would execute you via impalement. He was in a sense a very great military leader in a sense. He made up for his lack of men by using psychological warfare, as well as his own vicious creativity. ... • 6. Assess The Role Of The Anti Hero In Hannibal Filled with determination to act upon a self fulfilling goal that benefits the greater good in some way, the anti hero serves as the protagonist of the story. Though the anti hero may seem to be the villain they are not, at worst they are delusional but never evil. Often formed from tragedy and occasionally psychotic the anti herois an important archetype in the area of storytelling. The anti hero the protagonist with an unjust cause that happens to benefit the greater good. An anti hero is not a role model or someone to look up to; often they are just the opposite. Rough, tough, filled with rage, seeking only revenge or other similar disturbed moral justices. However, through all of this they are the best choice for a victor. An example of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One difference is though Hannibal and Dexter are both serial killers Hannibal kills for the enjoyment of killing. He kills his victims without care and then cannibalizes them. This serves only his purposes and there is no greater good that Hannibal is achieving by his actions. This gives Hannibal the role of the villain, though the audience may become infatuated with him perhaps because of his charisma or otherwise he is still without a doubt the villain. On the other hand, Dexter takes great care in selecting his victims. He seeks out those who are deserving of justice and delivers it in the way the he best knows how. Capturing his victims and forcing them to face their sins before death. What happens afterward shows one of Dexter s greatest character flaws. Once his victim expires they are chopped into many small pieces with great care taken in how the cuts are arranged and then a small trophy is taken in the form of a drop of blood. This is one of the greatest examples of how flawed a character can be and still be called an anti hero. While Dexter is preforming this ritual for his own gain he does not kill without reason or purpose, and that reason, his purpose to kill is to help rid the world of its filth and violent crime. Taking all of this into account we can plainly see the difference between the villain of the story and the anti hero archetype. Villains like King Claudius and Hannibal Lecter only seek to serve themselves and they are not concerned with what and who they must destroy to achieve their goals. While anti heroes like Hamlet and Dexter will do morally questionable things but they always whether intentional or not have a greater purpose they will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Muthuveerapan Narayanan, Purushothaman Rayalsamy, Shafiul Ehsan Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Wayne State University 5050 Anthony Wayne Dr. Detroit, MI 48202, USA Abstract Electricity is not just an option for passenger cars. Hybrid and all electric technologies are moving into delivery trucks, garbage trucks, and tractor trailers, as well as into other more out of sight vehicles, all of which literally help keep our economy moving. For these medium and heavy duty trucks, the goals of electrification are the same as with cars: reducing pollution, oil consumption (in trucks, usually diesel fuel), and fuel costs. Expanding the use of electrification technologies is a key strategy for doubling the fuel efficiency of trucks and for helping to cut our nation s projected oil consumption in half over the next 20 years. In 2010, freight hauling trucks consumed 2.3 million barrels of oil per day more than we currently import from the Persian Gulf and emitted 348 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. • 10. Political Majority and Federal Spending Essay Abstract This paper addresses the following question: what determines government spending in the United States. In short, I believe real government spending to be a function of partisan political control. Specifically, I hypothesizes that a majority congressional representation by either the Democrats or the Republicans does not affect the level real federal government spending. In other words, government spending does not increase due to a Democrat majority or decline due to a Republican majority. Introduction Every two years on the first Tuesday in November, Americans across the country vote on who will represent them in the Federal government. Thusly, they indirectly shape the future of the United States. Since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If partisan control of congress is a determinant of real spending, a plethora of new questions shall arise. In addition, if a Democrat majority results in a decline of spending, then academics and draw inferences about the budget, and therefore the deficit, the day after elections. Ceteris paribus, academics would be more likely to predict overall government spending. In other words, Keynesian economists would predict a less drastic economic downturn if Democrats have majority control during stagnate growth. Specifically, I wish to determine the following. First, is congressional control a determinant of federal spending? Next, does the same hold true for federal defense and non defense spending? Finally, does a specific party majority foreshadow a specific effect on spending? Alternatively, does a Democrat majority predict an increase in spending? In the next section, I will review and discuss the implications of prior research. Then, I will detail my methodology and results. Finally, I will discuss my finding and draw conclusions. The end of the paper cites references and includes any appendices vital to the understanding of the paper. For this reason, the Greeks quickly realized that a solution to irrational numbers was imperative. Fortunately, Eudoxus was able to present a new theory of proportions which did not involve numbers. One of the most dominant characteristics in any villain is a craving for destruction, whether it is the annihilation of a specific hero or of an entire world. Occasionally, however, the heel possesses a quality that contradicts this nefarious tendency. Rarely does a story include an evildoer whose actions end up benefitting those around him. While some of Loki s actions qualify as heinous, many of those who read of his misgivings are too quick to criticize the undervalued deity. This harsh judgment has spun into a popular culture that paints a misconstrued image of Loki in film. Although interpreted by modern media as inherently evil, the Norse god Loki is simply a misunderstood mischief maker who helps on his own accord, corrects his misdeeds, and ultimately causes the dawn of modern man. All life on earth must undergo the replication process of evolution. Humans purpose is the one he/she chooses for themselves. Individuals are responsible for their own existence. However, the conditions of human existence have been the same throughout history, we re born, work to survive, and die. How Gregor lived his human life was a result for his metamorphosis and eventually his death. According, to the article Metamorphosis, by Stephen H. Balch, Humanity has profound decisions to make, some to be taken collectively, others individually. They ll be better made to the extent we give the coming generation an understanding of what brought them to their metamorphic moment. Franz Kafka, The Metamorphosis, is a tale of Gregor transformation from a human into an insect. Gregor was a simple man and lived an ordinary life. He devoted his life to his work and providing for his family. He became burden with supporting his family, dissatisfied with his job and alienated from his family which slowly cause his dehumanization. Gregor transformation first began when he had to change roles with his father. In most families, parents are expected to be the leaders and financial provider while children are expected to live by their parent s rules. To achieve this, each member of the family must be aware of their duties and responsibilities. If we re to understand ourselves as members of an interconnected human family, we must understand the developments within western civilization that made such a universal community conceivable. (Balch 2012) Gregor transformed from a child into an adult and his father s debt became his responsibility. He became the breadwinner and the pressure of providing a comfortable lifestyle for his family weighed heavy on his shoulders. Normally, the mother would nurturer the family and comfort their children. Gregor s sister took on the role of his caregiver during his metamorphosis. Gregor cared for his family deeply. The structural expressionism adopted in the design of this building is supposed to resemble growing bamboo shoots, symbolising livelihood and prosperity. The whole structure is supported by the five steel columns at the corners of the building, with the triangular frameworks transferring the weight of the building onto these five columns. It is covered with glass curtain walls, and it s unique appearance means that it remains one of Hong Kong s most distinguishable buildings. Although changes had been made it still kept to Paris traditional appearance and was installed within the former Orsay railway station. Between 1900 through to 1939 it was known as the Gare d Orsay and was seen as the head of the southwestern French railroad network. However, after 1939, the station was to serve only the suburbs, as its platforms had become too short for the modern, longer trains that appeared with the progressive modernisation of the railroads. In 1975, the Direction des MusГ©es de France had considered installing a new museum within the train station, in which all of the arts from the second half of the 19th century would be displayed. The station at this time was threatened with demolition and was to be replaced by a large scale hotel complex, however due to the revival of interest in nineteenth century architecture it became listed on the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments on March 8, 1973. It wasn t until October 1977 that the official decision to construct the MusГ©e d Orsay went ahead. The building was then classified as a Historical Monument in 1978, and a civil commission was created to oversee the construction of the museum. Nevertheless, there might be de facto discrimination in practices (in granting compulsory licenses, not in granting patents) due to the fact that most of the patentees are foreigners in a developing country. However, neither de jure discrimination nor de facto discrimination exists in making patents available to foreigners. Arguably, it would be de facto discriminatory to nationals in developing countries. Most important of all, scholars also concur on the opinion that technology specific differentiations can be justifiable, not per se impermissible under TRIPS. The Canada Pharmaceutical Patents panel did not intend to provide a rigid rule to determine what constitutes a legitimate reason to impose a differential treatment. The IPA did not appear to apply the local working requirement only to the pharmaceutical sector. Previously, Brazil introduced a local working provision (article 68) in its Industrial Property Law and the US filed a complaint before the WTO dispute settlement body in 2001. Wade In 1971 Jane Roe attempted to have an abortion, but was opposed by Henry Wade, the District Attorney of Dallas who was determined to enforce the Texas law that made abortion, unless medically necessary, illegal. The conflict only grew in strength and publicity until it landed at the Supreme Court in the now legendary case of Roe v. Wade. When the legal battle was over, women were granted the right to abortionin the second trimester, a right that continues to cause conflict 40 years later. The case ran from 1971 1973 and it got a heated debate started across the United States. The topic of abortion had always been debated heavily but Roe v. Wade sparked a wave of protests and new opinions. The argument over abortion prior to Roe v. This debate could never be more relevant than in present day society, where globalization and advanced communications technologies have synergized to form a ubiquitous digital library of shared information. People began to realize that nothing was being achieved when religion was the only answer to anything and realised that you can have a good life before death. This resulted in a new lifestyle for civilians and a happier life. The fight for who was the cause of the greatest effect of the Scientific Revolutionis an ongoing debate. Today I will be breaking down many people who put their foot forwards in a time of need and seeing who was the greatest. They will be put into a bracket starting with eight people on each side and within four tiers of battles (tier one being the first round of battles and tier four being the championship or fight for who had the biggest impact on The Scientific Revolution) there will be announced a winner. In the first clash of philosophers in the first tier we have Francis Bacon versus Robert Boyle. These two were matched together because of their involvement in early science. Francis Bacon was the developer of the Scientific Method, which is one of the most commonly used ways to figure anything out. Robert Boyle helped advance some things, but my verdict is that overall Francis Bacon was more successful in long term advancements so he wins. • 25. Figurative Language In The Chocolate War By Robert Cormier In the novel The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, the characters are over exaggerated, to state a clear point that this is not a normal story. The story does not follow a regular story line, but one that Robert Cormier decides is fit in his mind and he over exaggerates it aswell for an effect to state his point that, not every time you disturb the universe something good comes out. Robert Cormier wanted the characters be different, he did not make them how others wanted, being socially acceptable, he wrote the book how he thought it should have went in his mind, and doing so he gave the readers some new to read not just the everyday novel. Cormier gives the reader many examples of figurative language to express the real meaning of the story for example, Caroni watched the chalk in Brother Leon s hands, the way the teacher pressed it, rolled it, his fingers like the legs of spiders with a victim in their clutch. (90) In this quote Cormier gives a similar to exaggerate about how Brother Leon was holding the chalk in his hands. It sends a powerful message to the reader that Brother Leon is a horrible man, who had no mercy and he is seen by others as a powerful administrator in the school using quid pro quo in his own evil type of way. Cormier also uses more figurative language to give a specific emotion that Cormier was trying to express throughout his novel, that not every time someone disturbs the universe something good comes out of it. What happened with Renault was bad enough, but there was violence in the air. (209) This quote is the the example that even though Renault did disturb the universe and did try to stop the chocolate sale, he failed and something bad happened to him for trying. In the end Jerry s attempts to stop the chocolate sales failed, and still there was still violence in the air meaning the enemy he tried to defeat was angry, but still undefeated. And many readers dislike Cormiers way to end the book in a way that the hero does not defeat the villain(s). Like Richard Peck said The young will understand the outcome. They won t like it but they ll understand. (10) And this is exactly what Cormier had in mind when he was writing the book, that the readers wouldn t like the ending, but ... There are 2 stages of death, somatic (immediate death) and cellular death. In somatic death, there is loss of movement, cessation of respiration and circulation [5]. The stage of cellular death includes eye changes in the form of loss of corneal reflex, shrunked eye and pale retina. Algor mortis (body cooling), hypostasis, rigor mortis are early postmortem changes that occur in cellular death. Late postmortem changes include putrefaction. The process of postmortem decomposition could be divided into five stages: Fresh (autolysis), putrefaction, black putrefaction, butyric fermentation and dry decay. To achieve these thigh gaps some women and girls would go on diets or some would just stop eating to lose weight just so they can be a part of the trend. The sad thing is that this trend was started with a few pictures of celebrates that were made by the computer. Not once did they stop to question it. Not once did they stop to think. ... • 41. Connectivity And Related Survivability Issues Of Wsns In the previous section, we mainly focus on the connectivity and related survivability issues of WSNs. It is the foundation that we deploy WSNs to achieve its main objective which is to monitor the field of interest / detect desired data and it is coverage that determines whether the field of interest is under strict surveillance or not. So, in this section, we will summarize the related work on integrated connectivity and coverage problem in WSN. In [68], [69], it s clear that connectivity only requires that the location of any active node be within the communication range of one or more active nodes such that all active nodes can form a connected communication backbone, while coverage requires all locations in the coverage region be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The objective of the research efforts on relationship between coverage and connectivity is to utilize the minimum number of sensor nodes to achieve required coverage degree while maintaining desired system connectivity. In the following parts of this section, we will firstly summarize the related work on analyzing the relationship between the sensing range Rs and communication range Rc. Then, we demonstrate the research efforts on finding critical conditions for achieving connectivity and coverage. Finally, we survey the approaches on connectivity and coverage in WSNs. Critical condition for 1 coverage to achieve 1 connectivity: In [68], [69], authors first time proved the sufficient condition for 1 coverage imply to 1 connectivity: for a set of sensors that at least 1 cover a convex region A, the communication graph is connected if Rc≥ 2Rs . Based on this result, when we design a WSN system, we can focus on node deployment strategy and elimiate the connectivity problem by assuming the Rc≥ 2Rs. Zhang and Hou in [70] present a distributed Optimal Geographical Density Control (OGDC) scheme that considers the integrated combine coverage and connectivity problem. The objective of this work is to minimize the number of active nodes in the WSN. Similar to [68], [69], the authors also proved that coverage implies connectivity when Rc≥ 2Rs. In contrast to wealth maximization, the profit maximization holds on to the following views in term of: 1.Time Horizons. It focuses on short term benefits and tries to gain as much profit as possible regardless of the long term effects. 2.Timing of Returns. It does not consider the timing of returns and thus time value of money. 3.Distributions of Income. It tends to ignore the owners wish to receive a portion of earnings in the form of dividends. 4.Risk. It gives less consideration to risk in an attempt to maximize profits, as higher risks will associate with higher return. Other goals of the firm are essential to be stated to avoid any misunderstanding. In order to achieve wealth maximization, the following goals are essentials: 1.Maximization of profits. To make profits is essential to provide stability and growth in operations and rewards to individuals and institutions that contribute to the firm. • 46. Compare And Contrast The Mexian Revolution And French... A revolution is a rebellion of the government with force in favor of a new and better form of government. During the French Revolution, King Louis XVI and his wife, Queen Antoinette, were heavily indebted from spending their money recklessly, which led to high taxes for peasants. In result, the peasants overthrew King Louis XVI from his position. During the Mexican Revolution, Porfirio Diaz became a dictator that limited one s freedom and the imbalance of social classes. Likewise, the leaders removed Porfirio from his position, but it created a bigger problem. People started backstabbing each other to take over the leadership of Mexico. The French Revolutionwas similar to the Mexican Revolution because both nations went through harsh conditions to establish a better government, both of their governments abused their power, and both achieved human rights in many ways. The Mexican Revolution was similar from the French Revolution because they both went through a phase of peasants in poverty and being treated harshly, wanting a change. According to an excerpt by Francisco Madero in November 20, 1910, it states, The oppressive government has gotten bad. We cannot accept it anymore... I need to put myself in front of my fellow citizens. People have placed their confidence in me. (Doc. 1) This evidence shows that both revolutions started because of the unfair laws in the nation placed by the government. They wanted to revolt because they wished for a nation with freedom and rights. This evidence proved that both revolutions had the willpower to fight back for what they want. The French Revolution was at war in their nation, where many men and women fought for their own individual rights and not depending on other to fight for them. Additionally, in a excerpt by John Reed in June 1914, it states, They are fighting because they want something that they can get no other way. The peasants are sick of war. They do not enjoy starvation, thirst, cold, nakedness, and wounds. This has been happening for 3 years. (Doc. 2) This quote demonstrates that peasants fought for freedom, and they were sick of being poor. They wanted a positive change in their life that would benefit them by revolting the government. • 47. `` Thought, By Louis H. Sullivan In his essay, Thought, Louis H. Sullivan illustrates the importance of real thinking and creative thinking. He asserts that words are not really necessary to use to express our thoughts. He presents other wordless forms of communication to translate our thoughts into loud expressions. Music, painting, images and other wordless forms are the solution the author suggest, as better forms of communication. Real thinking is better done without words Sullivan argues. Words cut off the inspiration of creative thinking, and disturbs the imagination when someone tries to translate their thoughts into spoken language. According to the author, images are the best way to translate our creative thoughts without the interruption of finding the perfect word to describe an idea. Sullivan attempts to persuade his audience to avoid reading because it deprives them from real thinking: asserting that it must be only done in the present. He discusses that writing is a slow process: many thoughts dissipates as one struggles to put their thoughts into words. Another point that Sullivan argues is that one should only think in the present, and focus in the present alone because the present is the only thing that matters. Sullivan explains, You cannot think in the past, you can only think of the past... you cannot think in the future, you can only think of the future ... One is dead and the other is yet to be born. The author argues that it is not good idea to expand our imagination onward and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a lot of advancements in technology that make things obviously different, but there are also many changes in our culture and society that has been affected by technological changes that many people fail to realize. One film that showcases the cultural impact of technology is the movie Hackers, directed by Lain Softley. The film is centered around the latest technology available (in 1995 when the film was released) and the growing culture centered around the elite hackercommunity. The premise of the film is that a group of hackers are being framed for a virus that was launched to capsize ships if a demand for five million dollars was not met. The group of hackers work together to prove that they are innocent by hacking into the database of a major corporation. In that database is the virus that was created by the company s head of cyber securitythat was supposed to steal a total of twenty five million dollars. The ships that were to be destroyed were all linked through satellite connections. Each ship is automatically guided and managed by a central computer. While it is commonplace for companies today to use satellite guidance systems and remote access to onboard computers, the movie does nudge the story along by making the whole system extremely vulnerable. Culture stems from the ethnic background do not tend to change because, multiple influences and likes come from culture.
