2. IDENTITYRed Moon Studios is one-of-a-kind. We are about revolutionary ideas that will attract our target market and will
also begin to bleed into other markets acquired by existing businesses that are similar to ours in the industry
but are still playing a different game. Being a music recording agency, you wouldn’t expect a studio to focus on
music engineers more than the artist but the engineers are what will drive our business, increase market share
and target market size, serve as multiple revenue sources, and build the agency’s credibility and advocacy.
3. Profession
I will be working in the music and acting industries. My music business will focus on music recording and artist promotion. My
acting endeavors will consist of commercial, theatre and film projects.
RMS’s focus on the engineers will be what sets us apart from others in the music recording sector of the music industry.
The job title I will hold will be Agency Co-Director(Business and Marketing). My business partner will have
the same title with a different subtitle Agency Co-Director(Music and Production). Other job titles that I looked
up on onetonline.org don’t really do justice to the titles that I thought of just because they really don’t embody the scope of roles
and responsibilities that my business partner and I will perform. But three that I saw are Talent Director, Producer, and Sound
Engineer Technician.
My chosen titles aren't too far from the identity of the industry, but they aren’t common among lots of studio sites. One site
Empire Sound Studio lists its head honcho Alex Gerst as Engineer/Producer. I respect that because that’s what he does
and he’s very good at it too according to his credentials. However we are going to be offering different services within the business
and the rate of which we work with clients on a day to day basis will range from 3 to 5 times your average music recording
studio’s work output. We are going to focus on satisfying our clients by backing them with industry quality music. We will also
provide opportunity for digital distribution and local performances. We will satisfy our engineers by providing them with a pool
of clients, credibility on our website and a RMS engineers kit that will set them up to work for clients, for us using our brand to
create identity of RMS amongst the community and market.
4. Target Audience
First, our target audience are music engineers. We
need a team of engineers in order to produce the amount of
work needed to hit goals.
Second focus of the mix are musicians and artists.
This is where the money comes from. We will concentrate on
the individual artist, which do spend a lot of time in the
studio but typically pay a lot of money for studio time. That’s
actually the fear of most individual artists is
spending money to produce their music and
how to market their music to have it heard. Our
rates will be easily affordable but we will also stress the fact
that we will have an audience for their work to be seen or
heard, and digital distribution and performance for a small fee
will well be worth the money.
Third, I will need music venues. Vendors that rent their
spaces for multiple use will be key for RMS Top Artist
Concerts. This is where the beginning of the glory happens
for the artist and the engineer. Going public with events like
these will definitely begin to make a name for RMS and its
artists and engineers.
5. Career Goals
Immediate Goals: to have RMS up and running in a regular way of operation
before graduation. I want to have at least 300 clients in our books managing 10
engineers under RMS and producing weekly revenue’s of at least $2500 to $5000 a
week. Also am looking to hold a role in a big budget film by the end of 2019
Mid Term Goals: to have an actual space that RMS operates out of, to be a
known entity in the music industry. I want to have acquired at least 10% of the
market share within 5 years. I want to be sag-eligible and a member of the union by
2021.
Long-Term Goal: to have RMS be a department of my multi medium
production studio. RMS will offer more services and skills and will work hand in
hand with the production studio that will producing original Theatre, T.v. and Film
content.

are committed to creating industry level music and
introducing new artists to the circuit. The individual
artists that have a voice and sound they want to share will
be given a platform, resources, and an audience to do so.
The engineer will have a brand, and advocacy to back their
skills and any other resources they may need. We are
committed to creating possibility by chasing opportunity.
9. Competition- Dana Yamaki
According to LinkedIn, Dana is a Full Sail University Alumni who was Valedictorian
in audio engineering and recording. Degree’s aren’t the same but I’ve already studied this degree
program and the career path she chose aligns within my interests.
Dana has 9 years under her belt with Sony Music Entertainment and currently holds title of
Senior Business Development Manager for 2 years now. Her title is one that is
similar to a career I want to have because developing a business means finding and testing
revenue streams to see if they would be profitable for the business. That’s what I’m actively
doing now for my studio is developing the business from the ground up.
Her Online presence is pretty spot on. You type in her name and every listing on the first
page is about her and her professional presence.
I chose her because she inspired me just by looking at her accomplishments, the positions she has
had in the past, her degree’s and schools of study, and her online presence. I want to operate my
business with her caliber.
10. Competition-Legacy Music Group
LMG is a Music recording studio that not only offers
recording and mixing services, they offer classes on music
business topics like copyright, performing rights,
legalities and distribution laws.
Services they offer are, Production and Consulting,
Recording and Mixing, Writing Sessions and
Streaming, Album Release and Parties.
According to their website, they have a team of 3, two
engineers one of which is the head engineer, and a music
business professional Matthew Medlock a degree in
Business Admin-Music Business that handles the
legalities of their business. According to LinkedIn, he is
3rd owner of the business as well.
Starting out, RMS will do most of its business through contracting
engineers. RMS will have at least 10 engineers on the roster at a time.
Artists can choose with whom and where they would like to record
their music. Engineers will be given a kit upon certification that will
allow them to remotely record their music at any location the artist
desires.
RMS offers artist promotional services such as
performance venues, social media management, and
distribution.
RMS has a team of 12, 10 engineers and two directors of agency
which divides into two focus; Business and Marketing and Music
Production
I would say of the two business, LMG would be the closest in competition in terms of services offered. It seems they have a
similar interest in the artist like Red Moon Studios does. RMS still has a strong focus on the engineer.
11. Brand Position
Red Moon Studios is all about the music but most
importantly, the people that create it. RMS has been
constructed to focus on producing industry grade material
for its clients.
We are poised to be as involved as a client would need
from copyright information to artist promotion and
distribution. There is not another studio that will be able
to work with the amount of clients that we can in a week.
There are so many recording agencies and studios but
more than the majority of them aren’t as involved with
their clients as we will be. RMS won’t be just anWe see a
need, and we will fill it.
We are easily affordable for your average artist with
enough production power to thoroughly satisfy the artists
vision. RMS is revolutionary and we are introducing a
new idea to the music industry…..be a part of the “Red-
print”.
12. Network and Marketing
Possible Group and Organization Affiliations
• The Recording Association of America (RIAA) works to protect the intellectual property and First Amendment rights
of artists and music labels; conduct consumer, industry and technical research; and monitor and review state and
federal laws, regulations and policies.
• Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) is the bridge between songwriters and the businesses and organizations that want
to play their music publicly. BMI secures and protects the performance rights of artists and their music.
• SoundExchange is similar to ASCAP and other performance rights organizations, and collects royalties for digital
performances on satellite radio, Internet radio, and cable television.
Online Content
Online content produced by RMS will consist of copyrighted material such as mastered music by RMS, instrumentals,
promotional advertising for studio concerts, artist recognition and promotion, and live studio sessions with consent.
Social Media will be utilized for advertising, promotion, and connecting with the community. Specific platforms RMS will
partner with are Instagram for archiving and promotion of RMS Top Artist Concert. Soundcloud will be used for
promotion of purchasable instrumental music, and copyrighted music produced by RMS. LinkedIn will provide a business
professional presence for the RMS to attract possible business partners or investors.
My digital portfolio will be the “master platform” of content and promotion. All social media branches will link back to the
portfolio. The digital portfolio will list all events that RMS will be attending or hosting. There will also be a public schedule
to view online. This will be used for recognition and acknowledgement of top artists and engineers, sponsors, and
supporters.
13. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
I am currently finishing my degree(2020) which
will provide me with a substantial platform to
effectively operate in the music business. I will seek
internship opportunities that will allow me to be
behind the scenes of the business to see how it all
comes together during game time.
Skills that I need are…
• Artist Management
• Music Business Law
I want to develop…
• Marketing and Advertising Strategies
• Business Development(start up and legal operation)
14. ELEVATOR PITCH
There’s a gap between very talented undiscovered artists and the music performance industry. There’s also an untapped market of
undiscovered artists and music recording engineers. We want to bridge that gap by offering affordable rates(lower than industry
average) and employment, promotional exposure for our clients giving them access to audience, distribution, and musical resources.
