The results showed a gain in crown height of over 2 mm immediately after surgery, which decreased slightly over time but did not fully stabilize by 6 months. More tissue rebound occurred when the surgical flap was closed closer to the alveolar crest. The amount of bone removed during surgery was also measured and related to the stability of the new crown height over time.

New Ways for Dealing with Medical Conditions.
It has been known for the last 2 decades that telemedicine provides better access to users in addition to reducing the waiting time between diagnosis in primary care and hospital.
In the Catalonian central region, two counties, Bages and Berguedà, have developed a teledermatology programme, which have had considerable success in reducing waiting lists while having wide acceptance among patients. This service is especially useful in rural areas where has been able to attend thousands avoiding unnecessary trips.
I would like to share my experience first as a manager implementing the teledermatology programme in 2010 and now working as a rural GP and actively using this service in my day-to-day work.

ONE STAGE FULL MOUTH DISINFECTION
This study investigated the effects of one-stage full mouth disinfection (OSFMD) using a 20% propolis hydroalcoholic solution in chronic periodontitis patients. 30 patients were divided into a test group that received SRP followed by OSFMD using the propolis solution and a control group that received SRP alone. Clinical parameters including gingival index, plaque index, probing pocket depth, and clinical attachment level as well as microbiological counts of key periodontal pathogens were compared at baseline, 4 weeks, and 12 weeks. The results showed greater reductions in clinical parameters and microbial counts in the test group compared to the control group, indicating the antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects of propolis.

Supportive Periodontal Therapy

2. SPT includes examinations, treatment of reinfected sites, oral hygiene reinforcement, and scheduling of follow-up visits. Studies show patients who receive regular SPT have better periodontal health outcomes and are less likely to lose teeth over the long term compared to those who do not receive ongoing maintenance care.

ONE STAGE FULL MOUTH DISINFECTION
This study investigated the effects of one-stage full mouth disinfection (OSFMD) using a 20% propolis hydroalcoholic solution in chronic periodontitis patients. 30 patients were divided into a test group that received SRP followed by OSFMD using the propolis solution and a control group that received SRP alone. Clinical parameters including gingival index, plaque index, probing pocket depth, and clinical attachment level as well as microbiological counts of key periodontal pathogens were compared at baseline, 4 weeks, and 12 weeks. The results showed greater reductions in clinical parameters and microbial counts in the test group compared to the control group, indicating the antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects of propolis.

An evaluation of a periodontal plastic surgical procedure
This study evaluated a periodontal plastic surgical procedure to reconstruct lost or blunted interdental papillae in the maxillary anterior region for esthetic purposes. 19 patients with 39 open embrasures underwent surgery using a variant of the Beagle technique, which involved raising a partial thickness flap and folding it to obliterate the embrasure. Results found 51% of sites showed increased papilla contour after 24 weeks, with 38.46% almost completely obliterating the embrasure. However, some shrinkage occurred initially. The procedure was found to improve esthetics and maintain oral health, though combining it with bone or tissue grafting may further enhance results.

Laser therapy further reduced TNF-α levels at 1 month compared to nonsurgical therapy alone, but this effect was not sustained at 3 months. This case report describes the full mouth rehabilitation of a 37-year old female patient who had lost most of her teeth due to generalized aggressive periodontitis. After extracting all remaining teeth, the patient received 12 dental implants, with 6 placed in each jaw. Fixed detachable prostheses were fabricated connecting all 12 implants. The patient was satisfied with the final result and remained stable at the 10 month follow up, though continuous maintenance care is critical for long term success given the risk of peri-implantitis in patients with periodontal disease.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

Em consonância com os ODS – Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Estratégia Global para a Saúde das Mulheres, Crianças e Adolescentes, e aplicando uma abordagem baseada nos direitos humanos, os esforços de cuidados pós-natais devem expandir-se para além da cobertura e da simples sobrevivência, de modo a incluir cuidados de qualidade.
Estas diretrizes visam melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados pós-natais essenciais e de rotina prestados às mulheres e aos recém-nascidos, com o objetivo final de melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar materno e neonatal.
Uma “experiência pós-natal positiva” é um resultado importante para todas as mulheres que dão à luz e para os seus recém-nascidos, estabelecendo as bases para a melhoria da saúde e do bem-estar a curto e longo prazo. Uma experiência pós-natal positiva é definida como aquela em que as mulheres, pessoas que gestam, os recém-nascidos, os casais, os pais, os cuidadores e as famílias recebem informação consistente, garantia e apoio de profissionais de saúde motivados; e onde um sistema de saúde flexível e com recursos reconheça as necessidades das mulheres e dos bebês e respeite o seu contexto cultural.
Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. To investigate the efficacy of perio tray treatments in reducing bleeding, a study was done by researchers from IA Periodontics and Prosthodontics and Ohio University School of Rehabilitation and Communication Sciences. The results of this study were published in The Journal of Clinical Dentistry.
- 3. PERIO The study was performed on 66 patients with periodontal disease who had exhausted their treatment options. The patients were put on prescription perio trays, with 1.7 percent hydrogen peroxide gel applied up to two times a day for 2 to 5 years. Data was collected after 6 months, 1 year, and then annually during the course of the study. Positive results were visible within 6 months into the treatment. Researchers found that perio tray delivery was most effective in reducing bleeding in the shallower pockets of the gums (3-4mm), where an 85 percent reduction in bleeding was recorded. In the deeper pockets (7mm plus), a 60 percent reduction in bleeding was recorded.
