The study investigates perchlorate removal using quaternary amine modified giant reed, demonstrating a maximum adsorption capacity of 169 mg/g. Optimal removal occurs at a pH range of 3.5-7.0, with the adsorption mechanism primarily driven by electrostatic attraction between perchlorate ions and positively charged groups on the modified reed. Kinetic studies reveal rapid initial adsorption, reaching equilibrium within 7 minutes, indicating the potential for this modified agricultural waste as an effective and cost-efficient adsorbent for perchlorate remediation.
