Editor's Notes

  1. Time on task With students leading the session, students being taught are more invested in it, they take ownership of their own learning- its their friends that are up there in front, it becomes cooler to do it, also gives the students who a presenting a greater understanding of the position of the teacher and how it feels to be in the front of the class teaching, helps them to have more respect for the teacher
  2. Formula.. Make a project out of anything
  3. Talk about how to assign the dances to the students .. Pick from a list, look up their own, give out random ones Let your kids go and look up songs and figure it out on their own OR make a list of the dances you would like to see them present or that you would accept as a project Some kids will come up with their own, you can allow them, make them do the ones you chose, or take it on a case by case basis For my project, students had to bring in their music. You could do it that way, or already have music available for the dances you have chosen .. It all depends on class level, your expectations of your students, the resources your students have available to them, etc.
