Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

10. BAHASA MELAYU KERTAS 2
1. Kertas ini merupakan kertas soalan subjektif.
2. Kertas soalan ini mengandungi 3 bahagian iaitu bahagian A, B dan C.
3. Semua bahagian A, B dan C wajib dijawab.
4. Masa menjawab soalan diperuntukkan selama 1 jam 15 minit ( 75 minit ).
5. Jumlah markah yang diperuntukkan sebanyak 60 markah. Keseluruhan markah
akan diperatuskan.
6. Markah bahagian A ( 10 markah ), bahagian B ( 30 markah ) dan bahagian C
20 markah.
7. Soalan bahagian A wajib dijawab. Murid-murid perlu membina 5 ayat berdasar-
gambar tunggal atau gambar bersiri diberikan.
8. Tiga soalan dikemukakan di bahagian B iaitu menulis karangan. Murid-murid
perlu memilih satu soalan sahaja.
9. Soalan bahagian C merupakan soalan berkaitan dengan nilai murni. Murid-
murid diberikan satu petikan. Murid-murid dikehendaki mencari nilai-nilai
murni di dalam petikan kemudian membuat ulasan dalam satu perenggan
berdasarkan nilai-nilai murni yang diperolehi.
11. 1. Markah yang diperuntukkan sebanyak 10 markah.
2. Murid-murid diminta memindahkan maklumat daripada bahan grafik iaitu
samaada bentuk gambar, grafik, peta atau carta.
3. Murid-murid dikehendaki membina 5 ayat berdasarkan gambar yang diberikan.
4. Murid-murid diminta membina ayat dengan menggunakan ayat yang gramatis.
5. Ayat gramatis ialah ayat yang betul mengikut peraturan-peraturan tatabahasa.
6. Terdapat 6 item di dalam ayat gramatis iaitu perbendaharaan kata, kosa kata,
imbuhan, struktur ayat, tanda bacaan dan ejaan.
7. Masa menjawab bahagian ini dicadangkan selama 15 minit sahaja.
1. Teliti gambar tunggal atau gambar bersiri yang diberikan.
2. Baca dan fahami arahan soalan.
3. Kenal pasti aktiviti atau situasi yang berlaku.
4. Senaraikan apa yang dilihat berdasarkan kata tanya seperti “apakah”, “bilakah”
siapakah”, “Mengapakah”, “Bagaimanakah”, “dimanakah”.
5. Kumpul maklumat yang terdapat di dalam gambar.
6. Tulis ayat lengkap dengan menggunakan ayat gramatis. Setelah siap, sila
semak ayat yang telah dibina.
12. 1. Tidak meneliti gambar.
2. Tidak menggariskan kunci soalan.
3. Ayat tidak bertepatan dengan gambar yang diberikan. Sebaliknya murid-murid
membuat ulasan.
4. Murid-murid tidak membina ayat dengan menggunakan ayat gramatis.
5. Banyak kesalahan tanda bacaan, perbendaharaan kata yang lemah, struktur
ayat yang lemah, ejaan yang salah, kosa kata yang kurang tepat dan perkataan
yang digunakan tidak menggunakan imbuhan dengan betul.
1 . Nama guru kelas 6 Amanah ialah Puan Izzati binti Ahmad.
2. Beliau merupakan seorang guru yang berdedakasi dan bertanggungjawab
kepada murid-murid 6 Amanah.
3. Keadaan kelas 6 Amanah amat bersih dan selesa sesuai untuk
pengajaran dan pembelajaran.
4. Cikgu Izzati mengajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu di kelas 6 Amanah.
5. Cikgu Izzati mengajar di Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Buloh sejak
10 tahun yang lalu.

14. 1. Markah yang diperuntukkan sebanyak 30 markah.
2. Masa yang dicadangkan menjawab bahagian ini selama 40 minit.
3. Murid-murid diberi 3 tajuk karangan, hanya 1 soalan wajib dijawab.
4. Soalan-soalan yang dikemukakan merupakan karangan berformat dan
karangan tidak berformat.
5. Panjang karangan tidak kurang 80 patah perkataan dan tidak melebihi
120 patah perkataan.
6. Murid-murid hendaklah menulis karangan dengan menggunakan ayat
gramatis.
7 Soalan-soalan yang dikemukakan banyak berkisarkan diri murid-murid,
aktiviti-aktiviti di sekolah dan berdasarkan tempat tinggal murid-murid.
1. Karangan berformat bermaksud karangan yang mesti ditulis mengikut cara
tertentu. Apabila ditulis tidak mengikut format yang ditetapkan, ia boleh
menjejaskan markah.
2. Contoh-contoh karangan berformat seperti Surat kiriman rasmi, Syarahan,
Surat kiriman tidak rasmi, Dialog, Laporan, Berita, Ucapan, perbahasan
dan catatan harian.
15. 1. Baca semua soalan dengan teliti.
2. Pilih hanya satu soalan daripada 3 soalan yang dikemukakan.
3. Pilih soalan yang boleh dijawab iaitu soalan yang benar-benar kamu mengeta-
hui format dan isi-isi yang mencukupi.
4. Baca keseluruhan soalan kemudian cari kunci soalan. Kunci soalan ialah
perkara yang ditanya.
5. Kunci soalan memungkin menyuruh murid-murid menceritakan, menulis, atau
menerangkan faedah-faedah atau menyediakan ucapan.
6. Gariskan kunci soalan, kenalpasti kehendak soalan dan format karangan.
Masa yang dicadangkan : 40 minit
Pilih satu daripada tajuk-tajuk di bawah dan tulis sebuah karangan yang

Tiba-tiba kamu terdengar jeritan orang meminta tolong. Ceritakan tindakan-
kamu dan kawan-kawan kamu.
1. Murid-murid perlu membuat peta minda.
2. Peta minda ialah rangka isi-isi karangan berdasarkan tajuk yang diberi.
Isi-isi karangan mengandungi pendahuluan, isi-isi dan penutup.
3. Peruntukkan masa selama 3-5 minit untuk membina peta minda.
4. Untuk mendapat keputusan yang cemerlang dalam penulisan, murid-murid
hendaklah mengamalkan membina peta minda sebelum menulis karangan.
5. Isi-isi karangan mestilah mengandungi 5-6 isi.
6. Perenggan pula perlulah mengandungi 4-5 baris.
7. Setiap perenggan perlulah mengandungi isi, huraian dan contoh.
8. Karangan perlu ditulis dengan menggunakan AYAT GRAMATIS.
9. AYAT GRAMATIS ialah ayat-ayat berasaskan nahu atau mengikut prinsip-
prinsip tatabahasa. ( Lihat kamus Dewan Bahasa Edisi ke-3 m/s 413 ).
10. Selepas menulis karangan, sila semak semula karangan untuk membetulkan
sebarang kesilapan yang timbul.
17. 1. Bahagian ini menguji murid-murid memahami dan membuat ulasan.
2. Bahagian ini memperuntukkan markah sebanyak 20 markah.
3. Murid-murid dikehendaki membuat ulasan berdasarkan nilai-nilai murni
yang terdapat di dalam petikan.
4. Bahan petikan yang diberikan adalah bahan sastera atau bukan sastera.
5. Panjang ulasan dalam satu perenggan tidak kurang 50 patah perkataan.
6. Masa yang dicadangkan untuk menjawab bahagian ini ialah 20 minit.
7. Buat ulasan dengan menggunakan ayat gramatis.
8. Buat ulasan berdasarkan nilai-nilai murni yang hanya terdapat di
petikan sahaja.

18. 1. Baca petikan dengan teliti dan fahami kandungannya.
2. Senaraikan seberapa banyak nilai murni yang terdapat di dalam petikan.
3. Buat ulasan dalam satu perenggan berdasarkan nilai-nilai murni yang
terdapat di dalam petikan.
4. Panjang ulasan tidak kurang 50 patah perkataan.
5. Buat ulasan dengan menggunakan ayat gramatis.
6. Setelah selesai membua ulasan, sila semak semua karangan/ ulasan.
Asiah dan Farhan berkawan baik. Mereka tinggal di Kampung
Melayu Sungai Buloh. Keluarga mereka hidup berjiran sejak 10 tahun yang
lalu. Bak kata perpatah hidup mereka “bagai aur dengan tebing.”
Jika keluarga Asiah ditimpa kecelakaan, ayah Farhan akan segera
menghulurkan bantuan. Begitu juga sebaliknya jika keluarga Farhan ditimpa
kecelakaan. Jika ada sebarang masalah yang timbul, mereka akan menyelesai
kan masalah itu dengan segera.
Pada suatu hari, Hakim adik Asiah mengalami kcederaan akibat ter-
jatuh ketika bermain basikal di halaman rumahnya. Ayah Farhan segera
menghantar Hakim ke Hospital Sungai Buloh. Ayah Asiah amat berbangga
mempunyai jiran yang bertanggungjawab.

21. Berdasarkan kepada petikan di atas, saya mendapat banyak nilai murni
yang boleh diamalkan. Sikap keluarga Asiah dan Farhan yang saling hormat-
menghormati di antara satu sama lain akan mengukuhkan lagi ikatan persa-
habatan. Amalan murni ini akan mewujudkan persefahaman dan melahirkan
perasaan muhibbah tanpa mengira kedudukan dan pangkat. Dengan ini semua
orang akan hidup aman dan damai tanpa menimbulkan prasangka.
