PEE/PEA Paragraphs
What is a PEE/PEA
paragraph???
A PEE/PEA paragraph is a
technique that you can use
when writing paragraphs. It
stands for POINT, EVIDENCE
and EXPLINATION/ANALYSIS.
But what do they mean?
Point.
Make your point. What is your statement?
E.g. The author describes Alice as a
scared person.
CHECK!
Evidence.
Add evidence to prove your
statement is correct. You can do this by
using quotes from the text.
E.g. “ There is no way I’m going in
there. It is way to scary!”
CHECK!
Explain/Analysis
You need to explain your evidence in
more detail and how it proves your
point.
E.g. This shows that Alice is too scared
to go in the room because of the word
“scary”.
CHECK!!!
Example of a PEE/PEA
paragraph
In the book “Cherry Crush” by Cathy Cassidy,
Cathy describes Honey (one of Cherry’s
stepsisters) as a very selfish person. “ ‘Why are
you using my stuff, Honey?’ said Cherry as she
walked in her room. ‘ Don’t you ever knock?!’ ”
Honey is using Cherry’s stuff without permission.
It shows that Honey is a selfish person to Cherry.
