It's not always clear why people volunteer to be community leaders, whether of Open Coffee meetups or any other initiative. I don't want to downplay the personal satisfaction and positive buzz that comes with doing something that is genuinely good for the local community.

CAMentrepreneurs Sydney Launch 2022.pdfRichard Lucas
This event will launch CAMentrepreneurs in Sydney with a pilot event hosted by Richard Lucas Linkedin Founder CAMentrepreneurs who will be visiting Sydney from Europe.
About the event
Expand your network in Sydney by meeting Cambridge & Oxford alumni, students and others interested in entrepreneurship. There are more than 1500 Cambridge and Oxford Alumni in Sydney so there is every reason to think that we could have a thriving group if 2% or more are into entrepreneurship. Our inclusive network offers local connections and global reach for entrepreneurs as well as the opportunity to re-connect with the Cambridge eco-system
This first event will enable prospective members to discuss the kinds of events they would want to attend or organise in Sydney, and make plans for 2023.
Richard Lucas will share his insights on the potential of the network to create value not just in Sydney but also around the world.
The majority of CAMentrepreneurs never attended an Alumni event until they came to one of ours.
Our events have a strong focus on participant engagement - be prepared to meet new people and make new connections.
If you want to make a short community announcement or pitch a business idea please let us know.
If you are interested in helping making a Sydney group thrive, please fill in this form
so we can contact you before the launch. If you are very keen to come, please use the "get involved" form, or make contact with Richard Lucas directly. We will give priority to those who want to help run CAMentrepreneurs in Sydney.
We are targeted at:
Alumni of the University and Judge & Said Business Schools who are in business, want to invest in/start companies, make new connections, find clients, co-founders, team members.
Students who are interested in entrepreneurship, finding investors, co-founders, jobs, internships, freelancing opportunities. If you are a student with a business idea or strongly supportive of entrepreneurship we encourage you to apply to attend.
While CAMentrepreneurs is centred on Cambridge University connected people, we are open to co-operation with other people and organisations that are interested in supporting entrepreneurship. In particular we work closely with Oxford alumni with a similar mindset where-ever they are open to it.
About CAMentrepreneurs
The purpose of CAMentrepreneurs is to support business and social entrepreneurship among Cambridge University alumni, current students and others. CAMentrepreneurs is global. Since its launch CAMentrepreneurs has held 59 events in Cambridge, Dubai, Dallas. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Helsinki, Houston, London, New York, Oxford, Paris, Vancouver and Warsaw, as well as online events.
CAMentrepreneurs operates on a TED -> TEDx model, in that we only launch a group when there are people in the city concerned who want to take the lead in getting a group off the ground (and there is sufficient interest).
The group is officially recognised by Cambridge University Alumni Office

Kraków Enterprise Mondays are free pro-enterprise meetups where students in Kraków meet entrepreneurs and alumni who have gone into business in a friendly informal setting.
✨ Special guest speakers
- Alex Kulbei - Founder of SaaS analytics tool Probe https://getprobe.io/
- Beata Zubaka - founder of invent-science (https://www.invent-science.com)
⚡️Goals
The main goal is to inspire students to think about entrepreneurship as a choice, educate them, help to understand world of business and be accessible to them so that they can ask you questions and get your feedback.
❔Why
Alumni who have gone into business are not enough actively engaged in supporting enterprise among current students. Many existing students are not aware of the opportunities that enterprise offers, careers available in Startups and the support available.
For who?
1. Students who want to start a business (or are thinking about it in future) and want to meet people who have gone into business
2. Entrepreneurs who want to help, meet pro enterprise students
3. Anyone else interested in entrepreneurship

About TED Circle
TED Circles is an open platform of small groups that meet for conversations about ideas. It’s a new TED initiative. 150 Pilot Hosts across 40 countries have volunteered to invite friends, neighbours, strangers, or a mix - to discuss a variety of interesting topics.
TED is running a pilot from September through November 2019 in order to shape the official launch in January 2020.
Hosted by volunteers, these weekly or monthly gatherings aim to empower us to dream and debate.
Each TED Circle is unique and all are virtually connected through the TED Circles platform - making it possible for local conversations to reach a global scale.
This TED Circle will last about 2 hours 30 mins. but we may go for a drink/meal afterwards. You may be expected to watch some 2-3 talks before we meet (like in a book club).
Anyone reading this is welcome to apply to join this Circle. The number of places is limited. Especially welcome are change makers, community activists and the entrepreneurially minded.
To find out more go here https://www.tedcircles.com
Any questions, just contact me.

Please note that this event will take place in cafe in Mengxia Park. There is no charge, but for sure we will need to spend some money to keep the cafe happy. If possible we may move onto the grass but we will have to see how things look on the day.
The route from the hotel TEDxWeekend Taipei people are staying in before hand is here .
It may not be possible to view TED talks in this environment so it will be necessary to have watched the recommended TED talks beforehand. and a repeat on Tuesday 29th once I arrive.
The event will formally end at 19:30 but we may go for a drink/meal afterwards.
These slides were shown at the CAMentrepreneurs Launch in Cambridge on 24th October 2019

This free event is to launch CAMentrepreneurs in Cambridge. Since our launch CAMentrepreneurs have had 23 meetups around the world, in Dubai, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, New York, Sydney and Warsaw. Now we are launching in Cambridge. For our global entrepreneurial diaspora, we will be showcasing some of the many pro-enterprise people active in the Cambridge Entrepreneurial Eco System. For the thriving Cambridge based pro-Enterprise Community we will introduce entrepreneurs from around the world and help explain how they can benefit from the CAMentrepreneurs network.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
