WHY PDHPE?
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
!   Many of us are familiar with the PE part of PDHPE -
that is Physical Education.
!   Physical activity is an important part of school life
and the benefits of an active lifestyle are many,
including; good health, improved concentration and
thinking skills, heightened confidence and self-
esteem, and the opportunity to develop social and
personal skills.
!   Therefore, students are
encouraged to participate in
varied physical experiences such
as games, sports, gymnastics and
dance.
BUT, there is much more to PDHPE…
Overall, PDHPE is
concerned with
supporting the
development of social,
mental and physical
wellbeing for every
student.
As such, PDHPE programs provide opportunities
for students to foster the values, attitudes, skills,
knowledge and understandings that enable them
to make healthy choices and lead happy, fulfilling
lives.
