This document summarizes some benefits of using an immunogen attachment strategy for linking proteins to gold nanoparticles. The strategy allows for (1) an easy and mild single-step surface modification without chemicals that could damage proteins. (2) The linker length between the particle and protein can be adjusted. (3) Proteins do not need to be exposed to chemicals, preserving their integrity and activity. (4) Any protein with a His-tag can be attached using metal chelating, avoiding extra costs.
