Minor pentatonic diagonally up (and down) the neck.
                               Pattern 1 in A.

                                                                    Root Notes

Most learn the minor pentatonic in five positions on the neck. The reality is,
most musicians connect the five positions using two patterns that cover the
neck. This is the first position. Remember, the Pentatonic minor is used in
the context of the relative major scale. For example you shouldn’t use the A-
minor pentatonic for the Bb major scale, …well you could if you wanted to
but….don’t create any abuse you cant handle. Use only the index and third
finger of your playing hand and slide up when you have to.

In order to find the relative minor, count down three notes from the root note
in the major scale.
e.g. the notes in the key of C major are:
                              C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C
Counting backwards, we’ll get C-B-A, so the relative minor for a song in C
Major will be the A Minor Pentatonic. Which starts at the third fret.
The image of which is above.
                            So go there. Again.
