History of patent The history of patents is generally considered to have started in  ancient Greek The first  Italian  patent was actually awarded by the Republic of Florence in  1421 In  England  first such letter was granted  1449  to a Flemish man for a 20 year monopoly for his invention Jun 7, 2009
Brief Introduction to Patent
Patent : legal document A patent is a  contract  between the government and the inventor The government gives the inventor the right to  exclude others  from making, using or selling the invention for a term of years. The exclusive right does not give the inventor the right to make, use or sell his invention.  The inventor gives the public  a full and complete   disclosure  of the invention with a teaching of how it works. Jun 7, 2009

What is on a Patent Document? Bibliographic Information Contains key patent data, such as patent number, title, list of prior art, patent class, name of inventor, assignee, filing and issue dates,   Unique patent number and date Title of invention Abstracts gives the main feature of the invention Representative drawing or figures to clarify information described in the text Inventors Date that the patent formally filed with USPTO IPC code is subject related – up to subclass level US classification

Iranian Patent Classification (IPC) http://www.wipo.int/classifications/en/   United States Patent Classification (UPC) http://www.uspto.gov/go/classification/   (to find what is IPC equivalent of a UPC) European Patent Classification (ECLA)   http://l2.espacenet.com/eclasrch   (same structure but is an extension of IPC with more subdivisions)
